  1. In my opinion, I would make sure that you have a good rolling chassis. Meaning tie rods, a-arms, bearings etc. You don't want parts flying off when your blazing through the trees. Then I would get a good used set of pipes that would be good for trail riding and jet accordingly. Next, get a good air filter. After that I would entertain the idea of getting shocks. I would not go cheap on shocks or other parts. If you don't know what your looking at and know what good quality parts look like it can get expensive. Do you research on here though. Good luck with your choice.
  2. Tom... is it just you coming to the dunes this trip or do you have a group going? I'm looking forward to it. Should be fun
  3. Tom... you will be fine. If your worried about it, then we can put your banshee in the back of my truck. They don't check those. Besides I have never seen anyone get checked. John was checked once though. As long as you have spark arrestors you should be fine. I had T5's with very bad packing and I was never checked. Just when you go thru the gate, don't rev your bike to the moon
  4. There was an article that came out about a year ago stating that the D.H.S. (department of homeland security), Center for disease control, Military, and the national weather service were all buying very large amounts of ammo. Mostly 40 cal and .223/5.56. I think that some of these non-law enforcement agency's were able to buy it through a surplus in budgeting. The article was in Time magazine and was very odd to me given that some of these agency's were buying millions of rounds. As far as .22lr, there is still a huge shortage here in Michigan. I tried ordering some from Midwayusa.com and they have been pushing me back each time for my .22lr order. Even 22-250 has been sold out everywhere and that's not a common round. 9mm is starting to make a comeback. I just bought some cheap stuff for $23 per 100. In my opinion, I think that Gov. wants to have control over this and is understanding that they can't stop people from getting guns, but they can affect how easily you can get or afford ammo. Given the fact that 22lr is a universal round that can be used for many different purposes makes it a hot commodity right now.
  5. toytech... there is a chance that I might be going on the Badlands trip. The last time I went I drove down the night before, rode the next day and drove back on that same day. Made for a long day but it worked. Might be possible to carpool.
  6. I'm Frank from the grand rapids, MI area. I've got an 87 4mil. Looking forward to it. Nice to meet you Tom
  7. tdod... glad that your coming on this trip. It will be nice to meet you. Sounds like we have an extra set of paddles for your banshee. Plan on having a good time. I will be riding half the day sunday. I think that John was also thinking of doing the same.
  8. I know that you are looking for a +2 but I have a +4 swingarm with a round carrier and skidplate mounts. I bought it from fast racing in the spring and used it only 2 times. If your able to send me a number that I can text a pic of it to you. I am bad with pics on here. It is the MX swingarm from fast and I bought it for 450 and am looking to sell it for 375 plus shipping.
  9. white13... were you the one that got yelled at for coming to close to someone?
  10. I just bought the tto coolant temp gauge. Love it
  11. At one point there was 3 four strokes and 4 banshees racing on the north side of the drag area. As the day went on it did get a little more interesting. Shanye... I was on the 87 full fender banshee. Stock looking except for the +6 swingarm. ha. Were you up there? What were you riding?
  12. It was a great weekend up there. We were racing 8 wide most of the day. Yes there were some bumps in the drag area but people were just working with it. We did so much dragging that on sat night that the launch area was completely rutted out.
  13. I had t5 pipes with the teacup sparkys that can be removed from the silencers with a snap ring. I took the teacup sparkys and machined down the ledge that holds the sparky in and increased the diameter of the Cpi silencer tips, slid them together and welded them on. All of that work was done for free. Of course I had to pay for the sparkys ($70 a piece). What I love about that setup is that I can take out the screens very easily and run without sparkys. The setup also looks very good in my opinion. To put the screens back in takes about 30 seconds and it passes all of the forestry standards.
  14. if you pm your number I can send you some pics of what I did. It works great. I am not the best with pics on here.
  15. Maybe we will have to find a different section to drag in. It doesn't help with Lake Michigan being so high this year. Just a year of a high water table. But I know our group will have fun flying thru the directional hills and roosting off the tops of each hill. My thumb is getting twitchy just thinking about it.
  16. The forecast showed that the rain was going to stop on tues night and be dry all the way thru the weekend. Hopefully it dries up on the dragstrip. Should be a great weekend weather-wise.
  17. Anyone looking to head up to silver lake this coming weekend. Its going to be a good group up there. This is one of WindycityJohns dune dates. Hope to see a good showing!
  18. When I bought my '87 banshee it didn't come with a title and I didn't worry much. I have never been checked asking if that was my quad or if I had insurance on it. But hey, I'm in Michigan. Maybe the rules are different in other states.
  19. Deadbeat...You got a laugh out of me.
  20. Deadbeat.... I say your a douche because of your negativity and a--hole remarks. Obviously Troy is high on his price. I don't disagree with you on that. It could be a Gem, but there is high probability that it could have issues given the age. I happened to find a Gem that was am '87, so I know whats possible. I just get sick of seeing people being really bold behind their computer screens and saying nasty things. I treat everything on here as if I am personally in front of that person that way if I ever meet someone on a HQ ride they will know that I'm not some douche behind a computer. If I have a beef with someone I will personally tell them. I just get frustrated trying to sift through all the bullshit posts to get to the ones that are actually entertaining or helpful. Sorry Deadbeat. I don't have issue with you, just getting sick of the bs. that's my 2c! Good luck with the sale Troy. Hope I didn't hinder anyone from the sale.
  21. Deadbeat... I just say it the way that it is. But your still a douche
  22. I love the S&W 340pd. Small J-frame 357 mag. airlite. Great for concealing, has excellent knockdown power and Never Jams. You can shoot 357 thru it and 38. Love the guy, but it takes a man to shoot it twice. ha
