hey all.. just got a motor back a month ago ish.. its a 4 mil dune/play port with boost ports-vforce3-upp intakes- +4 timing- straight cut gears-pwk35s.. all performed by fast racing!!! i have 155 mains 50 pilots cel needle and have tried everthing from 148-165 and 45-55 and dek, dgk, eek and ever clip postion... i cant figure this thing out! plug chops look real nice with 155! my problem is somewhere off idle to 1/2 throttle..runs like a mofo on top but down bottom to mid i just cant get it right.. its almost like its not getting fuel... feels like your driving and turn the fuel off when you go to get on it.. i guess my question is, anyway the pwk35s are too much for stock cylinders, because im having a hell of a time with this. it almost feels like there is too much air dumbing in all at once. is there anything else that could cause this problem? im kinda running out of ideas! oh yeah and im by no means a pro at tuning this stuff so any pointers would be helful! i want to try to figure this out without pesting Jeff. i know there swapped and feel bad for calling them all the time!! thanks

x2 but i had pwk35s

two summers ago i had f.a.s.t. racing do a dune/play port... i ran t-5/ vforce 3/+4 timing/ stock carbs/ and a noss head with 20cc domes. i loved it!! thing was a beast for what i consider a "kinda stock bike"! i just had f.a.s.t covert this set up to a 4mil and what a huge difference but i also put some other goodies on as well! i would definently give Jeff at f.a.s.t a call and talk to him. he is a super dude and could for sure hook you up!

i was just making a suggestion.. i did not say that this was the absoulute best way.. just the way i have been braking things in for years, anything from quads 2strokes and 4strokes, big block chevys, small block chevys and even my little nitro powered rc trucks. i really do believe that if it is assembled properly and no interal part fails you'll be good to go regardless of your technique. i just do it this way for a "piece of mind" kind of deal. does it really help?? i dont know, its just the way i have been doing things for a while and it has been working for me! i guess its all personal preference!

there are many theories out there.. i personally like to bring the motor up to temp and do a light mx style ride for 15mins or so then let it cool down completly before doing it all over again. i do this for about 1/2 tank. I personaly believe that this is the best technique because you are putting positive and negitive charges on the rings to ensure they seat right. Is this the absoulute best way?? who knows. It works for me!! i know that starting it up and letting it idle in the drive way for 1/2 hour is not a good idea!!

i ride in the coal region. i do a lot of trail riding and hill climbing. there is alot or loose, rocky, slippery conditions! i tried many different tires with not much success for a banshee. had 2 yfz 450s and the tires really didnt matter as much because they really plant the power to the ground alot easier, but with the out of control power band of a banshee(witch is what we all love) i really only found that the itp mudlites work well for me for an all around tire. this is my 2nd summer on this set and the tread holds up rather well and have not got any holes in them YET! i run them on all 4 corners of my shee and would never buy anything else. i do however have a set of paddle tires i run when only playing on the coal hills for the day! but you cant go wrong with mudlites for a great all around tire. 20-11-9 rears 22-7-10 front

hey guys im pretty sure this has been gone over and over before but cant seem to find it. I'm currenty running a set of k&n 6" pods with outerwears. This is the first time i ever ran a bike without an airbox and it is a little scarey for me because of my riding enviroment. I ride in north eastern pa in the coal region. Alot of dusty, griddy coal dirt everywhere! My questions is about protection and not so much about performance. I,m looking for the best protecting filter against the griddy coal silt that could whip out a motor if ingested. So what is the better filter to keep all of the fine junk out?? K&n or uni?? i will be running outerwears on either application. i know an airbox would help but i have a stouty little 4mil and need to let her breath. thanks guys!

I was in more or less the same boat.. Wanted good stuff but was on a budget! I went with +2+1 full flight arms, elka front shock, and tusk 2" rear wheel spacers.( this is a kit thats offered from full flight)For the rear swingarm i went with a +4 wolfs metal fabrication swinger. Its a real heavy duty swingarm witch i love for trails. It uses the factory style carrier witch will save you a couple bucks and is a direct bolt on.Im very happy with the performance gains in the handling department!! All the parts that i listed i would definetly recommend for anyone looking for a real nice trail setup on a budget!!

thinking i need to rejett? help!
special06shee replied to jwharris's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
The jets should be clearly engraved/ stamped.. Just have to take them out to see what they are. Sure premix would effect the performace. What oil you running? Different oils require different abouts usually anywhere from 32/1-50/1. I run klotz r50 at 32/1. By you adding more oil the last couple of tanks you made a richer mixture witch could be causing your problem. But its a real good idea to accually see what jets you currently have. Like i said before there are real smart dudes on here that can help you out alot! Just have to post all of your current info to give them a good idea on your current setup so they can go from there. Good luck -
thinking i need to rejett? help!
special06shee replied to jwharris's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Huh? If it ran good in 40-50 degrees and not at 75ish sounds like you might be to rich. In colder temps you have to bump up on jets sizes. I would recommend finding out what jets you currenty have and post them.. There are some super knowledgeable dudes on here that will help you out from there.. But from what you said it sounds like a lean condition.. But just be certain! -
Told all of you that this would get GOOD! Hahaha! But on a flip side isn't this a jetting forum?? Who cares how much you make! A successful paycheck does not mean your an Einstein... Or a schmuck.. Just means you have a decent job!!! And thats it!
-
Oh man this is gonna get good!! Hahaha lol!!!!! With that said i know im not an idiot but somethimes i make dumbass mistakes!! It happens to the best of them. And there are some banshee geniuses on here!!

The higher you move the clip up the lower the needle goes onto the main. So you are leaning the mid range out. The lower you go with the clip the higher the needle is out of the main making for a richer mixture. You can keep playing around with clip heights until you find the best performance but i would only go one clip at a time!

I just installed a set of +2+1 full flight arm with elka shocks. I love the way it rides and handles.. Way better then stock thats for sure but i would bet the shocks play a big role in the performance. However the arm themselves are a nice quality especially for the price. And they bolt right up with ease witch is always a plus!! So far i really like the setup.. Id recommend them especially if your on a budget such as myself..

Are you giving carbs- reeds - intake??? If so i would say 700ish if not.. 500ish. Just my opinion
-
Haha its funny that im even gonna try to give you any pointer because im currently seeking a little guidence myself with my completly new set up.. But anyway last year i ran a stock stroke dune/play port with boost ports also done by Fast! That set up i had dialed in! I had 350 mains-27.5 pilots and the toomey needles( cant remember whant clip.. Think it was 2nd from bottom).. But i now that the toomey needles help me out huge. I aslo ran t5 vforce 3 and timing at +4. I would definetly try the toomey needles.. Made me a believer with stock carbs!! Hope this helps!!

Jetting 4 mil dune/play port help
special06shee replied to special06shee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Well after test and tuning today i found out that the 1/4-1/2 throttle stutter is accually a lean spot. I started with the cel needle with the clip in the middle and it would not take it.. So i accually lowered the needle to lean it out because i was so conviced that it was rich.. But it made it so much worse!!! Could not believe it. So i then raised the needle all the way up and it is so much better but not perfect.. Still needs more fuel in the mid. I put a size bigger mains in thinking that might help but all that did was make the big end not as stout.. So i guess i just have to find a little richer needle then the CEL. Anyone know of a richer needle off the top of their head? Thanks for the tech help guys!!! -
Jetting 4 mil dune/play port help
special06shee replied to special06shee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Cfm air box is an aluminum box.. It holds two smaller style k&n pod filter.. And no it does not have a lid.. Went with this set up because i like the idea of having the extra protection in the envirorment i ride in.. And also thought fitting the factory box in would be next to impossiable with the bigger carbs and intake set up. Its a pretty nice set up.. Just hope this is not my problem!! Thanks for the advise.. Will try it out today!! -
Jetting 4 mil dune/play port help
special06shee replied to special06shee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Forgot to state i originally started with 165 mains and worked my way down to the 150 that is in it and the stutter has been there along -
Hi guys.. I have a fresh 4 mil dune/ play port with boost ports dune by fast racing. Pwk35- toomey t5 - cfm airbox- noss head with 21cc domes for pump fuel. Im at around 600 ft elevation. My jetting is currently 150 main 52 pilots cel needle middle clip and 11/2 out air fuel screw. Runs great on the big end but at 1/4-1/2 throttle if you roll in it or stap it it stutters and wont take it. Did plug chops with 155/ 52 pilots and it was rich so i dropped the main to 150. Tryied different pilots 50/48 and played with the needle a bit but cant seem to clear the mid up. Any help would be great. I could call Jeff at fast but i just dont want to be a pain in the ass even though i know he does not mind!!! He is a super dude and always is willing to help but i know he is crazy busy. Thanks

banshee vs. raptor vs. yfz 450
special06shee replied to H8 ROCKET's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I had all three and ended up with the banshee. Raptor is more for laid back trail riding while the yfz performs better the more aggressive you ride it... and for the banshee.. just cant beat the power and the sweet sounds it produces!!!
