  1. Could be a bad gauge.. Im not saying that your top end isnt toast but you could be getting a lower reading then what it actually is! I had bought a brand new gauge a couple of months ago that read about 35psi lower then what it really was!! Also when using a compression gauge you must use a tip that is as long as the spark plug to achieve the most accurate kicking reading!! If the tips are shorter the readings will also be lower by a few psi!!
  2. i had four different sets of pipes on my quad.. trinity,t5s,fmfs, shearers!! out of all four pipes my shearers were hands down the BEST for fit and finish out of the bunch!! however i have taken them off because they did not suit my riding style!! pulled like a mofo on the big end tho!!
  3. A motor wont fire without compression!! Buy a gauge and check it out!!
  4. This motor is a hard runner!! And he is a good dude!! So buy with confidence!!
  5. Some motors like reed spaces.. But banshee motors are not one of those motors!! Dont let anyone fool ya!!
  6. Wow!! Thats impressive!!
  7. Clean carbs!! I bet its a fuel issue!! My money is on needle and seat is siezed!! Or the pilots are blocked!!
  8. Youll just have to try and see!! Might have to move it two positions! Just move it one at a time tho then take her for a rip to see if its good or not!!Good luck
  9. Move clip up one to start! That will lower the needle in the main jet.. There for blocking the flow of fuel!!
  10. First thing is to find out where the bike is running rich at!! I dont think your main will be to far off from the 280s you have in!! Id say your needle position is what you have to work on!! A plug chop will get you dialed in for the main size!!
  11. Reeds are a good idea!! But reed spacers are a bad idea!!
  12. If your not sure if its a lean or rich condition.. Alway add fuel first to see if the problem gets worse or better!!
  13. Port it, timing plate, head with proper domes!! Shee will rip!!
  14. i run t5s on my 4mil stock cylinder and they work great as an all around pipe!! fmfs will probably be just fine..especially if your on a budget!!
  15. if you have the extra cash id definently get it ported!! it will make your bike run like never before!! it will cost ya somewhere between 250ish-500ish depending on the style of port!! you'll probably be on the lower side of that beings how i dont think you'll be after an all out drag port!! its well worth the cash especially if a site sponser will have your cylinders anyway for the bore job! id recommend fast racing because i have had great dealings with them in the past, but im sure you'll get great results from any other site sponser here!! as far as bore size goes.. you really dont get to pick what size bore you want! it all depends on the damage your cylinders have now! they will try to bore the cylinder as small as they can to repair the damage! but to anwser your question there is no noticable power difference, or reason to bore the cylinders any larger then is needed to repair the damage!!
  16. i bet there will be some good wrecks come race day! looks very bumpy and uneven to be having timed racing! doesnt look steep but still looks like fun! goodluck on race day!!
  17. Just get the stock cylinders ported! Give Jeff at fast a call!! My old set up was a stock stroke dune/play port with boost ports,Stock carbs, +4 timing, vforce, airbox with k&n, t5's. It was a hard runner and would trail ride very well!
  18. make sure your pods are cleaned and properly oiled! ive seen a lot of people try to tune in a bike and they never bother to make sure the air cleaner/pods are clean or properly oiled! a shitted up air cleaner will mess with the air flow there for mess with the jetting! with that said.. all bikes are different! just because little johnys running a certain jet size, it does not mean that is what you will be running, it should be fairly close tho if both bikes have the same modds!
  19. i cant really coment on the reed valve but as far as the 2-1 carb goes id personally rip it off and go back with the twin carb set up!! i have never seen a hard running shee with a 2-1 carb! some people swear by the 2-1 but i have yet to become a believer!!
  20. i more or less have the same motor set up as your getting! get the pwk35's! you'll love them
  21. if your bike runs great a wot then is not the main.. if you can run the quad around 1/4 and below the pilot is not the problem.. everthing in between is the needle!! this is the part of tuning that can be the most frusterating! if you stab the throttle and it does not take it id lower the clip a notch or two! if your not 100% sure if its a lean or a rich problem alway add more fuel first!!
  22. Your best bet is calling jeff at fast to order the jets and needle!! He will get you real close on the jet sizes!! Ypu'll just have to fine tune from there! The pwk35's are very easy to tune!!
  23. keep the 35's and try them!! with your motor combo your not gonna feel a huge difference with any carb!! you will end up doing work to the banshee down the road and will need the bigger carbs!! trust me!! try them out!! they will work just fine!! if you feel that you lost to much bottom(witch i personally dont think it will hurt it that much)run the factory carbs untill you go bigger on the motor!!
  24. Might loss a bit of bottom end but id say try them out!! You'll pick up a bit on upper part of mid and top end if ya run pods!!
