  1. of course your not trying to save the bearings. the main concearn is not damaging the cases or fuk up the bearing bore. thats why you heat the cases in a oven to around 250ish. that reduces your interference fit and allows the bearing to pop out with little effort. pressing them out isnt much better than hammering them out, either way your still trying to force the bearing out of a .003" or so interference fit. if you look at the bottom of the shift drum bearing it likely has a lip between the bearing and case. this is where your BB puller will grab. whether theres a inner race or not makes no difference. you can probly also pop the needles out and try grabbing it at the top lips but usually those type of bearings have a larger lip at the bottom specifically for grabbing with a puller the tab screws have loctitie from the factory. heating them will do no good as that only makes the screw bigger. a qaulity impact driver like snapon and 1 or 2 taps from a dead blow rubbet mallet is all that should be needed. if you strip out the philips head youll be fuked big time if you dont have the proper tools you might want to find somebody that does
  2. banging the bearings out is always a bad idea. should of just told the ol lady to go out for the night and then used the oven 2 of the bearings you need a blind bearing puller. the other one you need to take those 2 tabs out
  3. how does the key fall out when it cant go forward or back. must of been you whole flywheel fell off is the only way. joshuamstevens will fix you up
  4. i imagine thats why the sponsers are 6months backed up. might want to pay the fee and get your name up on the site. be rollin in dough
  5. you do know that only a couple guys around here do any engine work dont you ? the rest, well, pry cases apart with screw drivers, beat pistons in with mallets, paint flywheels, . but whats there to be mad about. thats more money in your pocket
  6. the extra material at the intake side and between the transfers on the exterior was a good idea and greatly reduces the amount of welding needed. thats one good thing about these cylinders. if the machining and attention to detail was a bit better these would be a nice cylinder well worth $300. maybe the ones i got was just a bad batch. ill send you a pm. it would be really cool if you could just exchange my set for a new set, since these ones have a couple defective areas
  7. skf is what i like to use but they aint cheap. $85 a pop for rollers from most any local bearing house. about $60 online. ring grooves have to be cut in all the lower bearing bores. shit adds up but its just money. ballbearing style are alot cheaper at $20 or so each and dont need any machining on the cases. alot of times the rod breaks before the bearings go bad so its pointless to use expensive rollers. to put rollers on a $400 hotrods, youll be into it around $900 when its all said and done unless you can do all the labor yourself
  8. brandnew hotrods bearings wobble like a fat chick going to the cubbord for a twinkie. im sure the vitos bearings are no better. might even be the same taiwan manufacturer
  9. ill sale you this one. might need to machine it down alittle
  10. whats a lower piston bearing and head sleeve ? oh never mind its hopeless. these guys were right, just box it up and send it off
  11. just trying to fit around here with the rest of the sheep. seems theres hardly even any parts changers left anymore. just send it off to a sponsor now a days. how sad
  12. call a site sponsor. from now on that will be my response to every question. why wont my handle bars tighten, call a site sponsor. why wont my tires pump up, call a site sponsor. how do i adjust my chain, call a site sponsor. my gas cap fell off, fuck it call a site sponsor
  13. thats some serious corrosion you got going. find who painted the flywheel and kick em in the ballz
  14. no i didnt know they were a sponsor. bought this set off ebay but it wasnt from niche directly because niche told me they were only selling them with pistons but some shop on ebay was splitting them up and selling just the cylinders. already had pistons so i just needed the cylinders. didnt bother contacting the ebay seller because i already had the paint stripped off before i noticed some of the issues. ill make em work but if i ever buy another set ill go over them with a fine tooth comb soon as i get em out of the box. then again ill probly just resleeve some stockers next time
  15. seems like a posted a pic on the previous page. rear transfer on the left cylinder is 2mm narrower than its opposing side.
  16. the average joe likely wouldnt notice all the little nuances that ive pointed out. the more i think about it, i probly would of been better off resleeving some worn out stockers one cylinder aint bad visually, regarding the casting. the other cylinder is horrible. the front stud pocket wasnt cast correctly, stud holes not sqaure. pretty sure i mentioned earlier about the horrible transfer mismatch between the sleeve and casting. not a big deal if your porting but to run them out of the box i can imagine they would be a turd since one of my cylinders is better than the other, its possible some sets will be better than others. you may have got a decent set with not as many flaws. still if you were to look close, im sure theres plenty of bumps in the road if you know what i meen
  17. some of them studs like in the cylinder are a goofy size. 6mm extractor is to small and 8mm is to big. american size extractor may work. can rent em from autozone for free
  18. havent seen that specific washer but some washers are hardened i do believe. plain jane washer from ace hardware may not last long
  19. forgot to tighten it correctly and use the lock washer ? if the threads are fucked up , they likely wont hold the 40ftlb torq any more
  20. i have no idea if ray is minkia38 but what i do know as fact is both minkia38 and komisar use a bait and switch tactic
  21. minkia does the same thing. puts a nice pic then sends a different part. he even admitted it in a message
  22. you may have issues with the case but the hotrods supplied bearings are nothing to write home about. when you compare them to a good bearing they look pretty cheesy
  23. maybe he has some decent parts but i got a box of shit
  24. komisar sells junk. wont even get into my story with that guy
  25. another word of caution. if you buy a trans and it still has the sprocket installed tell them to take it off and take pics. otherwise you may get a suprise when you find the threads all fuked up
