  1. I'm doing a full rebuild, and i need to know what would be the best solvent to soak my cases in to disolve some of the grease. i've been thinking either gas or mineral spirits. what else is there?
  2. i bought a new style (2 bolt) axle carrier for my 87, and i was hoping there'd be a good place to buy the correct bolts for it, any ideas?
  3. just got my reed cages and intake boots from chariot, and i'm thuroughly impressed, everything was neatly bagged and clean, and quick shipping. i'll definitely buy from them again
  4. alright, i'll let you know, i'm hopin to have this thing goin by 4th of july weekend cause i'm supposed to go to silver lake
  5. haha i'll get the bottom one, but my shee is an 87, so do i just have to get a bolt kit from the newer ones that have the 2 long bolts instead of 4 short, and everything else will be fine?
  6. the right edge of my axle carrier looks like someone cut it with a cutting torch. it's all jagged and sharp edges, i have no idea what happened, and the bearings are terrible. i saw a few on ebay new with bearings in them that looked pretty legit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-BANSHEE-350-REPLACEMENT-AXLE-BEARING-CARRIER-/280690747450?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415a78e83a particularly this one has anyone had experience with these before? and is that a good deal? if not, what would be the best option?
  7. hopin someone is from around here that's willing to come help me out with my motor rebuild. i mostly know what i'm doing, but i just dont like "just goign for it" on my first build
  8. pretty simple question really, do the yfz 450 shocks work on the J arms the same as they do on the a arms? i know there's modification to be done with the a arm frames, just wondering if it's the same mod for the j arms
  9. i took the shocks off and the arms move up and down fine, so it's gotta be the shocks
  10. need some new front shocks, depending on price i'll go aftermarket, but probably just some nice stock ones, offer up
  11. i got an 87 shee that's been sitting for a few years, and the front shocks are very stiff. if i stand on the front bumper an jump it'll only move a couple inches. is there anyway to fix this short of buying new shocks?
  12. haha calm down, i didn't put any cranks in it, i got it for free. i think what might've happened is the detonation, or if the guy that had it replaced the crank but left the stock bearings in it.
  13. yes i've torn it apart, the head was pretty awful, the cases are matched, it didn't look like there was much time on the new pistons, i'm not sure what a squish is? but here's a picture of the head
  14. i really dont know that much about it, i just got it for free the other day, i think the only things done to it is toomey pipes a uni filter, vents in the air box, and boyesen reeds. they were all hotrod cranks and the rod bearing on the left side, the one on the crank itself, not on the piston
  15. i've got a banshee that's had 3 new cranks through it and all three have had the same rod bearing go out, any ideas why? the guy i got it from thinks that the bore might be crooked or something, i have no idea. whats your guys' thoughts?
  16. i've always seen stuff about the pancake bearings but idk what they are, could someone help me out? and how would i be able to tell if the idler gear bearing is bad?
  17. i got a free banshee from my girlfriend's dad, but it needs a new crank because one of the rod bearings is out, so i'm doing a full rebuild, and i was hoping for a little help with what all i need to buy/have done. tell me what i'm forgetting cylinders bored cylinders ported new crank, welded top end rebuild kit (gaskets and pistons and such) bottom end rebuild kit (new crank, bearings, seals) the transmission and clutch are both new it needs a new clutch cable carb rebuild kits reed petals that's all i can think of right now, what else needs to be done?
  18. that makes me think there's still hope for it haha
  19. it's been rebuilt quite a few times, my girlfriend's dad gave it to me, it's had 3 crank bearings go out on the same side, he gave me a box of old parts that had 6 old pistons in it, so it's definitely had it's share of beating on. also, there's a crack in the back right side of the lower half of the case, that's been welded, i'll have to get pictures up, i hope that won't cause problems
  20. i pulled the head off my banshee the other day and it's pretty torn up, is there anyway to fix it? if not, does someone want to sell me one?
  21. my brother was checking out the crank, and found the problem. here's a video of it
  22. i just took the jugs off, it doesn't look terrible, but i'm not sure of everything to look for, so we'll see what happens the more i progress
  23. i'm hopin that's true, but i really dont wanna buy new cylinders, unless someone wants to sell me some that have some porting done
