If you look at the bowl there is a tube that sticks up into the carb. When the fuel gets that high it leaks out. Get a needlevalve and/or readjust the floats -

play with the needle clip up and down and see if that fixes it. my guess is that it need to be leaned out in the midrange.

Did you try and search about them? They are made to vitos specs by weisco from what i understand and are cut to let the exhaust open sooner almost somewhat immitating a ported exhaust. You can use them in a stock motor but i wouldnt advise it for a ported one. -
Mine goes right on the crank. I use 2 flywheel nuts to keep it tight. I dont see any reason you cant do like you said to make it fit as long as you can keep the hole centered

What kind of riding are you doin? A cub is setup for drag racing out of the box so you wont have much bottom end on it.. What pipes have you got? Start here by stating your goals for the banshee, maybe we have an insight your friend doesnt have -
