Stock vs stock the 450 wins because it's a newer bike with better technology, a bigger motor and better suspension. Once you start talking about mods it's a whole new ball game.

Does anyone actually use 1st gear for anything but putting around? If you're on the throttle at all shouldn't you be in at least 2nd?

Has anyone found a guide to motor numbers beyond 1999? I have a Clymers manual and it stops at 99. One of my motors is a 3GG-202609 and I would like to know what year it is. Thanks

Wow, old thread, here's my .02. I have a 99 F-250, 2 door, longbed with the 7.3; it was originally owned by a large construction company here in town and was then purchased at auction by my father in law. My father in law drove all over the west coast buying and selling catalytic converters. I bought it from him and use it to tow my ~5000lb carpet cleaning trailer on a daily basis. It has over 300,000 miles on it and still pulls like a beast. My father in law put a transmission cooler on it and I think that saved the tranny. No major issues, almost no issues at all. I wish they still made the 7.3. I'd like to get a newer truck but this one is paid for and still going strong. It's a Superduty so it rides like a tank but it has all the torque in the world and stops great too. Even on the highway with my ten foot tall enclosed trailer it has no problem with passing or steep grades.

Sounds like your rear brake master cylinder is shot. Time for a rebuild.

If you end up cutting them off like I did and want another set of stockers let me know. I have 3 sets I'll send you really cheap.

Probably better not to use hardware store parts. you can usually find OEM replacements on here, or E-bay, when other people buy the pretty ones. The Cascade ones are nice but it's just for looks.

I'm sure a professional paint job could look as good as powdercoat. The biggest reason I went with powdercoat was for the durability.
