  1. I've got my front suspension perfect Full Flight +3+1 a arms For (YFZ-450 Shocks) with Chromoly Heims, and the following parts off a 2009 YFZ-450R: shocks, spindles, hubs, brakes, brake lines, steering stem (and flag). And I need to stiffen up the rear. I have the shock tightened all the way and it needs a little more. I'm 6'3 and I weigh about 225 pounds. I sat on my buddy's Raptor the other day and it felt perfect, so I thought I'd get a Silver "Matching" Raptor 660R Shock for the rear I did a little research on Google and from what I've read only one year will work.......2001. What do you guy suggest? any input would be very helpful. Jim
  2. Okay, In no way do I plan on doing this, but I've always wondered and I figured if any body knew the answer it would be a guy on this forum. I went to Little Sandy ATV Drag Strip a few years back (8yrs ago). a buddy of mine had a Modded Polaris Sport 400 that ran pretty good, all the other Polaris guys that were running super fast times had big Snow Mobil motors on there Polaris Sports and Scramblers. I had a Yamaha Blaster at the time so of course I was a die hard Yamaha Fan and I wanted a Banshee to smoke those heavy automatic pieces of junk. So it came down to the end of the heads up drag racing and a Built Banshee and a Polaris Sport with a Snow Mobil engine were going head to head for the last race............... And the Polaris ended up winning but not by much. On the way home I told my buddy the race was bull shit, If the guy that raced the Banshee wanted to destroy his quad and put a GP-800R or a GP-1200R out of a Yamaha Wave Runner on his quad he would have stopped the shit out of that Polaris. So now years later I've got a Built XC Banshee and I wanted to know why no one has ever done this? It makes more sense to me to put a Yamaha GP-800R on a Banshee then putting some kind of crotch rocket motor on one, and this is the reason I say that: 1. The Banshee was named the Banshee because of it's sound. 2. Both the GP-800R and the Banshee are in-line 2 cylinder 2 strokes made by Yamaha. 3. I Ran across a dude that put a R-1 motor on a Banshee on you tube; the R-1 has 130hp, the GP-800R has 120. (Plus its a 2 stroke ) 4. The engines are set up similar, and they look alot alike so it would have to bolt up easier. I know its a engine made for water and the radiator would need to be ginormous , But it would be a bad machine and still have the cool Banshee quality's that make the Banshee what it is. If you were real crafty and you put the GP-1200R 155 horse power three cylinder in the Banshee it would be something words couldn't describe. You can get that motor up around 200 horse power with an arm full of eBay modds. Guys please don't rake me over the coles on this one, I would love to see it done JCT 1

  4. You can greatly improve the Banshee's ride and handling characteristics by using the YFZ-450R/X front Suspension parts. What throws the shit into the fan is the a arms themselves . I have a 2004 Banshee that I built to run XC Races. I bought the entire 2009 YFZ-450R Front suspension Shocks, a Arms, Spindles, Hubs, Brake lines, Brakes, steering Stem (and Steering stem flag) a little at a time. And had a machine shop work the a arms over several times. When it came down the the end results I wasn't happy because it wasn't perfect. So this was my solution and I guarantee theres not a Banshee out there with a un-modified frame that handles or rides better than my Banshee. I took the milled 2009 YFZ-450R a arms off and sold them to a guy who wanted to tweak some more and try to make them work on his Banshee so recuperated my money on those "$94.00", and I kept all the other parts listed above. Then I contacted Full Flight Racing and talked to them. Evidently I wasn't the first guy who tried to make the Later model YFZ Front suspension work . They put together a +3+1 a arm kit with tie rods and 12 point adjustable Chromoly Heims thats made to work with all the other YFZ suspension components. He told me most guys that were attempting this had sold all or part of there stock Banshee Suspension, and that had put them up Shit Creek without a paddle, and he knew there would be a demand for such a kit. Man does it make a difference!!!! It takes some time to get the adjustments right, but in the end the goal is achieved.......A Banshee that rides drives and jumps like a real MX Bike. It only differs from the new YFZ in a couple of ways and I'm trying to perfect those things as well. 1. The steering is stiffer than the YFZ. 2. It's exactly .5 inches narrower and 2 inches higher than the YFZ. 3. The center of gravity is quite-a-bit higher do the the seat lay out. So I'm ordering a steering stabilizer to take care of the stiff steering, I changed my front tires from 21X6-10 to 19X4-10. I adjusted the shocks just a little to let the front end out .5 inches, and now I'm trying to find a way to lower the center of gravity by changing the seat. . Thats what I was looking for when I ran across this forum post, Is there anything you can do short of modding the frame (and I'm NOT doing that) to get a better center of gravity? I was wondering can a Raptor, YFZ, or any other sport quads seat be modified to get you ass down a couple of inches? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the reply, I looked all over the internet and all I can find is the entire tank, I don't remember what quad they had it on in the picture, or if they even made it for a Banshee. I remember thinking "how do they get that to seal perfect and fit flush on the tank ?" I tried to attach a generic paint picture to act as a visual aid, I hope it loaded right. I built my Banshee to trail ride and endurance race, and I've got a tone of mods that add power and comfort. I know with out a doubt my bike has the power to be a high competitor, but it absolutely loves the fuel. I don't want to buy the bigger tank; not because it looks bad because I have my Banshee's appearance just the way I wont it. I couldn't decide if I liked the Maier Custom "Raptor" front end or not so I bought a new Black Custom front and a new traditional Red Front end with a Silver Radiator cover, and Black Tank Covers. I went with the Banshee Maier "OEM" Style Rear Fenders. I wanted to have interchangeable front plastic so I bought a Brand New 2003 Yamaha Banshee Limited Edition Flame graphic kit and sent it to a friend "Casson Signs & Art" and had him make two sets of replica graphics. My "OEM" Style front end fades from Red to Black with Silver Flames, and my Custom front end is just Black with Silver Flames. I found a company on the Internet that makes a Quick Billet Fastener Kit for the guys that race the Old School Honda TRX-250R. This makes the change quick I can have one front end off and the other one on in less than five minutes with nothing more than a small flat headed screw driver, and it makes for a clean smooth flowing appearance. I contacted Clarke and they said you couldn't put graphics on there tank; they wouldn't stick , I would have to cut my brand new OEM Style plastic, and the custom front end wouldn't work at all. All that being said if I don't find this Piggy Back tank I'm going to have to stop and fill up two times to every Thumpers one fill up. My brother (1989 HONDA TRX-250R) are the only 2 stroke bikes out of 68 Sport ATV's. I Please help me find this.

  7. Way back in 1999 when I had my old Blaster and read Dirt Wheels and all the other ATV Magazines I thought a used to see a add advertising a bubble shaped piggy back like gas tank that could be attached to the top of the Banshee or Blaster tank that held an extra 1/2 gallon of fuel...... Did I dream this? I'm not talking about the Clarke tanks. This little apparatus was removable. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
  8. DRIVE-LINE makes a bad ass clutch kit for any style of riding they use the steel and carbon plates out of a YZF-1000. You can pick up a Heavy Duty Trail and Track Clutch Kit Guaranteed to hold 75+ horse power of eBay for $75.00 Shipped.
  9. Alf's right, Full Flight Tie Rods look nothing like the tie rod in that picture. First of all Full Flight Tie rods are made out of precision formed seamless heat treated .120 Wall, 5/8 inch Aircraft Grade Steel Tubing, and there powder coated to match the a arms. I've seen people use tie rod and tie rod ends off Yamaha Utility ATV's like the GRIZZLY when they get in a tight spot and need longer tie rods to accommodate for the added width. This is very common on some of the YFZ-450 Front Suspension Swap. I have a Full Flight +3+1, Silver Vain, with 12pt adjustable Chromoly Heims , for YFZ-450 Shocks Kit on my Banshee and I couldn't be happier everything is heavy duty and top of the line. The 12 point adjustable Chromoly Heims give you alot more to work with. It you buy there kit with that option you can upgrade your entire front suspension by swapping newer (2008 and up) YFZ-450R/450X shocks, spindles, hubs, brakes, steering stem (and steering stem flag) and it works perfectly nothing binds or has bad geometry. I have a friend that I ride with who has a new YFZ-450X and our quads ride almost exactly the same. It was a huge improvement over the stock suspension. I gave around $180 for all the YFZ-450 Parts, and picked up a set of like new take off YFZ-450X Shocks for $69.00 plus $15 shipping. I highly recommend this set up for any guys that trail ride or race Hare Scrambles. Yamaha should have upgraded to those parts years ago.
  10. Great clutch, my Banshee's 75+ horse power and I use this clutch. I had a Barnett Dirt Digger and I melted it. I bought the Drive-Line kit your talking about with the YZF 1000 steels and friction plates and put it in my Billet Aluminum Barnett Clutch basket, replaced the crank case oil with fresh Klotz Flex Drive 30 and it's not even acted like it was going to slip. My Banshee's set up for trail riding, and endurance racing the only thing that I don't love about this $75 Super Clutch is the stiffness; its a little stiffer than the OEM, and the Barnett. I'm going to try to take care of that one small problem by upgrading my clutch lever. IMO I don't think you can go wrong with the Drive-Line Clutches. Pick out there kit that best suits you, your bike, and your riding style and have at it!
  11. I know its expensive but I take a Kleenex from time to time and dip it in Z-MAX Micro-lubricant and lay it on the Chromoly Hiems when my banshee sets for a long period of time. Then when its time to ride I take the Kleenex off and throw it away and wipe off the excess lubricant. unlike WD-40 or other lubricants Z-MAX can be wiped off, and still protect because it penetrates metal, and secrets a microscopic film that dirt and dust wont stick to. Z-MAX is $20 for a little 12oz bottle, but I think its the best stuff on the market. I run a small amount the fuel treatment in every tank of fuel. heres a You-Tube video: My Full Flights have 12 pt adjustable Chromoly Heims. The guys at Full Flight told me in order to run the YFZ Shocks I needed to buy the kit they make for the YFZ Shocks and they are +3+1's. I don't know why they get bad reviews I can't find one thing wrong with them.
  12. I agree the Full Flight a arms are great! They are built very well. I bought a set of +3+1 Full Flight a arms (For use with YFZ-450 Shocks) with the 12 point adjustable Chromoly Heims. They are Powder Coated Silver and they look awesome. By paying a little extra and getting the 12 point adjustable Chromoly Heims I was able to upgrade my front suspension even more. I ended up buying a new set of take off 2010 YFZ-450R spindles, Hubs, Brakes, steering stem and steering stem flag and adjusting the a arms to make it work. A buddy of mine has a 2008 YFZ-450 and my Banshee IMOA rides better than his YFZ. the Banshee has a great rear suspension set up. I read some where that all the Yamaha techs spent there time on the Banshee perfecting the rear suspension trying to keep the rear tires planted and on the ground. They must have been wore out by the time they got to the front suspension. My Banshee with the stock front suspension rode like a hay wagon compared to my new set up. Everything fit perfect and nothings binding like it did when I had the YFZ-450 a arms on there. I have about 30hrs of trail riding, jumping, and cruising on the new set and there are ABSOLUTELY NO signs of ware or problems. Maybe you guys can answer a question for me, why do most riders prefer other brands of a arms (Houser, Fox, and so on) over the Full Flights? I've went over mine with a fine tooth comb and I can't find any short comings what so ever, and they have a life time warranty that they stand behind?

  14. I picked up a set for 115.00 shipping and all off eBay a month or two ago that look just like the ones in your picture. I'm running mine with Full Flight +3+1 FOR YFZ SHOCKS ,Silver vein, with the Chromoly heims. the bike rides great, but it sets a little higher.
  15. What would you charge me for a arm spacers needed after you do the YZF Conversion? I made a set out of a old a arm I had and I was happy with them until I saw yours. Please contact me as soon as possible; I'll send you money through Pay Pal. My address is 588 Copperfield Drive Lawrenceburg Kentucky, 40342. Please get back with me, this is the last part of my 04 Banshee Build. E-mail- [email protected] Cell- 1(502)-598-6331
  16. I did the YFZ Conversion on my Banshee. I used donor parts off a 2010, that a guy had upgraded to FOX Shocks and Houser a arms. The parts only had about 2 hours total on them. Correct me if I'm wrong; the 2009-2010 YFZ-450R Shocks are longer than the earlier years. My Banshee has the exact amount of front clearance it had with the stock set up.
  17. What year YFZ Front end did you use? And how long did your tie rods end up being? As far as I know I'm the first person on the HQ Forum that swapped the Banshee Suspension for the newer 2009-2010 YFZ-450R Suspension. I ended up buying Full Flight's Banshee +3 tie rods and they were still to short. I ended up sending them to a machine shop and having them make me up a set that were 16 inches long. The stock YFZ-450R Tie rods that came with the a arms were 14 inches, the + 3 Full Flights were 15 inches, and the stock Banshee tie rods were 12 inches.
