can i realy be this off in jetting?!?!
EvilBanshee replied to blubyyou's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Adjusting your pilot will branch onto your main jetting still. I should have been more spefic. FRom what i see. His pilot of rich to begin with. He should be 40-45, Not 48. So put it to 45. Then just play with the main's 2 sizes at a time. Again though. Could be dropping a cylinder. Check those Boots!! -

What are your plugs gapped at? If i were you i would drop 2 mains and 2 pilots. If it Runs the same, DRop another 2. your wasting your time doing 1 size at a time. You wont notice a huge difference between 1 size. Do 2 sizes at a time. If their as black as you say they are. i wouldn't be scared to do even 3 sizes the first time. Alllso i will tell you, my experience. I was chasing jetting. and happened to be My plug boots were worn out. When i would rev the machine up in Neutral it would sound amazing and crisp. Once i put a load on it ( going through the gear) It would drop a cylinder and the thing was a LAzy pile of crap. That could be your problem. your issue sounds alot like what i had. too just my .02! -

Alright ill look into a set of small bore Shearer's or trinity's. I do have another question, Im a V8 guy. Changing the pipe to a shearer or trinity from FMF's, Will this throw all my jetting? If so how much? A jet size or 2 bigger or so?? Orr will i just bolt on and go? -

OH really? What size does the Big Bore Shearer's call for CC wise? 500CC plus? -
Ya, get a fresh set. Gap them at .028 thou. Do a WOOT pass or 5 and check them right away. Then get back to me.

The Company i bought the engine kit from said in frame Big bore Shearer's would be perfect for my engine. Me and my Builder did very mild clean up to the port's. We just made it "More Efficient" as he said lol. Any body have any idea what a set of Shearer's are worth? like 600 bucks?.. -
Hey guys, i want your opinion of the best pipe for my set up. Its a 421 with FMF fatty's and I feel like my quad is just starting to get into its sweet stop up high then it stops pulling. I think my Pipes are restricting my quad. I do open riding. Alot of drag racing. Dont get me wrong my quad pulls good. But if i let it rev out its like someone lets off the throttle. I know their is alot more in this thing. Its jetted perfect. I have 34mm Keihlins on it. It has to be the pipes. I have tried everything with the fuel lines to get zero restriction. I still want alittle mid range. But i would prefer a more top end pipe.
-
Yes you can hear detonation. Its a PING-ING sound. It has a different pitch to it. Its a different sounding ping then a regular 2 stroke pipe sound.
-
Im looking into getting Sherer's as well for my 421. But Fuck that if i have to ditch my air box lol
-
Im not really sure why is would make a difference it being a stock 350 with 22cc domes or a 500cc with 22cc domes or ( equal compression) Compression and timing need higher octaine. Does matter how small or big your engine is. ( Just like a chevy 350CI or a 427ci big block.) If their both 9.5:1 engines they will run on 89 octain just fine.
-
I dont think both sides are damaged? I Think hes just talking about one side. I know what lean looks like. Judging by those plugs she is FAAAATT.
-
Well it sure as hell aint lean! lol 22cc domes is more then enough for 98 octaine? I think it might be something eles. 91 pump fuel would do 22cc domes. Look like a piece of bearing or metal of some sort got in their and bounced around a few times. See if your rod bearing it getting loose or worn out.
-
Iv beaten a few ported 350's with my 421. Maybe the ported ones a raced sucked lol. But why not port a big bore and whoop serious serious ass?
-
If you can save your jugs, Just send them away to get ported. Most 2 strokes need to be reved out pretty decent to make power. Or vito's has a new engine kit you can buy. I think its a 66mm? with the +4 stroker crank with the long rods. I have a vito 421 68mm big bore. I love it. But it makes its power up high. No low range. Alittle mid range.
-
I had a Vito's Big bore 68mm ,stock stroke 404cc engine. And then my brother blew it up after a year and a half from over revving the shit out of it, Now last Year i bought a 68mm big bore +4 stroker 421cc engine from them. I think their quality is fine. Is their products the biggest and fastest? NO. But Vito's still makes nice stuff handsdown. Their crank is still holding up for me. I wouldnt be scared to go buy another engine kit from them. The reason why i went with them is because their shipping station is 2 hours from my door. But let me tell you this. Around my neck of the woods. MY quad is yet to be beaten... And its only got +4 degrease timing and 22cc domes in it with FMF Fatty's.. Let me put a real top end pipe on it, 20 or 19cc domes... Then ill be making serious power! Dont Dis Vito's folks, Their not the best, but their far from crap.
-
i had issues like this last year with my new 421, I replaced everything electical.. accept the plug boots. Finally I replaced the plug boots and BAM! The things runs like a champ!! Worth a try if you havent already?...
-
This happened to me last year. It was my plug boots shorting out. Once i put a load on the engine it would drop a cyclinder. I tried everything.......... It was plugs boots.
