  1. They both have their ups and downs. I prefer a twist but hated them before i got used to it. I dont know who makes it or about quality but somebody sells one that has both in one unit so you can switch back and forth.
  2. holes hot xcr's are awesome for dirt. They will grab great out of the corners too. The razrs are great too though i just have always gotten the hole shots. The original razrs last a long time. As said before anything beats the dunlops.
  3. What was your compression?
  4. Yeah but I just rode it for the first time today but only about ten minutes. I think you missed the part of my post where i said it was something to check, NOT im sure thats your issue. If you do need a rebuild it is simple to do. I spent around 350 including coolant and changing the oil. I had to have my cylinders bored and ports cleaned up.
  5. Mine acted like that and it was because it needed rebuilt. Id check the compression. Im not saying you need a rebuild but its something to rule out before screwing with your carbs.
  6. I havent read the article but the quotes crack me up. I read a dune shootout betwen the raptor yfz and banshee in like 05. They said all were good but the banshee was still the king of the dunes. Now they are junk? If i remember right they were all stock still too.
  7. for future reference there is a pinned thread that has a link to a service manual with this information. Its the bottom one that says useful links.
  8. When you used them did you notice a difference in power? I just put some in mine and havent had the chance to really ride it. I was wondering the same thing as the op because the site just says to buy their jet kit. I ended up just going to 270 to 280 on stock carbs. The guy that did my machine work said they might even be fine at 270 to just try it and see.
  9. Which amsoil did you run? I ran some in my lt that didnt have a smell but the dominator i run now smells good. Its not as strong as others but its still there. Someone also mentioned the price being high but around here its cheaper than other comparible oils.
  10. I would try to trade it or trade plus cash from them. If you play it right you can get another quad and some cash. Probably the best way to get your money back though. Id have trouble letting one that nice go.
  11. I use the dominator. I think its great and not to bad on the price. I get it for about 60 a gallon and it last me quite a while. Sometimes i turn around and ride where i just went just so i can smell it too.
  12. For your rebuild you need to pull it apart and see whats been done. You need to have your cylinders checked so you know what size piston to order.
  13. I would just cut it and solder the right one to it. be sure to use the heat shrink also.
  14. If you change the oil more often with the cheap stuff then its still going to cost around the same. I think a little more money for superior protection is worth it.
  15. Im pretty sure only some of the vitos are made by wiseco. If you look at their site it says it on some but not the others. I just got some superstocks too but havent gotten it put back together to try them out.
  16. I like ultra black or ultra gray.
  17. I'm sure you could but with all the work and money it probably wont be worth it. It would be a fun project though. If you do it post some pics and stuff.
  18. I had an 87 and tried to put a rear yfz shock on it. If i remeber right the length was close. The linkage was so different it wasnt even worth trying to fabricate something. I believe it was to wide at the mounts. Works was still making shocks for them a few years ago. You can rebuild them also.
  19. What are you looking to spend? What type of riding do you do? As far as the porting prices go check out the sponsors for prices. If you want to go fast it takes cash.
  20. I would use a good synthetic designed for quads. Im sure atf works fine but i just feel its worth a couple bucks extra for oil designed specificly for use in a quad. For mixing I use amsoil dominator but there are plenty of good brands.
  21. You can also pick up the adjustable timing plate for around 35-40 bucks. Just the ease and peace of mind are worth it.
  22. X2 on snops second picture. They are magnetic and you can easily take the all. I think sears carrie some of that style.
  23. Am i the only one that has noticed he thinks $65000 for a car is just fine but $35 for an adjustable timing plate is out of line? Then a $40000 or more truck, but $250 is ridiculous for a head.
  24. Never used yamabond but i've used ultra gray a lot mainly on cars but some quad stuff too. It works great for everything and is usable within an hour.
  25. Way to go sloryder you've have talked everyone on your side into buying a cool head. Do me a favor and go punch yourself in the balls.
