He did the same shit to me when I was supposed to meet up with him. We all need to sometime have a certain time and area to meet up. I would really like to meet up with some of you guys and pound a few cold ones. It is tough to locate someone when you are down there for a quick day trip and riding with a group of people. It would be awesome to have an HQ meet down at the dunes sometime.

Made it down Saturday. Stayed at the Cowboy campground. It was an awesome day for riding. The 450 rocks in the sand, but sucks at the dragstrip. I looked around for you led but obviously didn't find you. Hope you had a good time.

You are on the right track in your thinking. But do it in steps. Start with putting the needle in the stock position and take it out and ride it. If it runs good in the midrange but misses out on the top THEN drop your main down.

Sounds like you are running way too rich in the midrange. Move the clip up to the middle slot on the needle and do another plug run. If it starts easy and will idle leave the pilot and airscrew alone for now until you get the midrange dialed in.

I have been around for a few years. I mostly just read the posts but try and help out when I can. I can't believe all the stuff I have learned from people on this site and differnet member's websites. I didn't know crap about 2 strokes when I first landed here but now I feel confident in doing all my own wrenching and tuning. And I know if I do run into a problem I'll always be able to get the answer here. I may have switched over to the darkside for now (four stroke ) But the BHQ will always be my favorite set of forums and I'll continue to hit this place at least once a day to check out what is going on and try to pass on a little of what I have learned here to the guys just starting out. If you don't have the tool to hold it still while loosening the nut then try using a air impact gun. That is what I use and it just spins it right off.

I plan on bringing the slowstroke down Saturday and seeing how it does in the sand. I'll try and look you up.

Overheating and backfiring is a sure sign of either an air leak or lean jetting. Might look into those two things first.

Damn even the full front fenders. That is a sleeper. I like the 450 alot. I have been wanting to race a few grand prix races they have here local and I think the 450 will do better in that type of riding then my banshee would have. I had my banshee built to run WOT in the sand. Wish I could have kept both but I am getting ready to build a house so I had to pick between the two. I don't care what anyone says though, after owning both of them, the banshee is still king of the dunes.

My .02 I had a sleeper myself and alot people always made comments about a stock looking banshee out running the drag bikes. I had right at 80 hp with a +1.5" extended swingarm. I couldn't keep the front end down at all. So I bought an adjustable lowering strut for the rear and dropped the rear down just one notch and ran about 10 psi in my haulers and was able to launch in second with the throttle pinned. The front came up about 4 inches off the ground and stayed there through about 4th gear then settled down. Always got the holeshot and stayed out front. Damn it, now I am starting to miss her.

It would be cool if we all just got together sometime and go for it. The last couple of years the guys over at planetsand have held a drag race called "Smooth Drag Day" The first year it was held on a Monday with an awesome turnout of people. The cool thing about having it on a weekday is the dunes were damn near empty except for the drag racers and a few of us spectators. The reason I bring this up is if we could get enough people to make the trip down say for the weekend and stay over til Monday it would be a heck of alot less dangerous meeting someone head on in the trails. We could also have spotters, I'd say wifes and GFs but my wife would probably want to race, scattered between the start and finish. I know alot of people don't have jobs where they can just take off anytime but if it was planned for later in the year like Sept or Oct maybe that would be enough time for people to scheduled some off time. Oh well, just thinking out load.
