  1. i dont think it matters what psi the gauge says (especially after porting).. Im pretty sure his uncorrected compression ratio is more important. Maybe someone else can help me out with this though
  2. In order to keep the rings from popping out of the cylinder, you'll probably need to run a really thick gasket (which raises port timings) . Even then you probably have to get the domes dished a lot. people who notice the gasket on the bottom will know something is up though...
  3. thanks man, i think i will just look for a regular set of gravity fed PWKs!! how can i tell if they are pumper or gravity fed carbs?
  4. K&N system worked great for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140385680106&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT
  5. if they are pumper carbs, would they have floats inside? these have floats. thanks everyone for the replies!
  6. it would be 2 of these carbs on a 421 stroker cub i was running TM28mm carbs on the motor and then playing around tried out my brother's 35mm TMX carbs and the difference was HUGE. just revving in idle you can tell a difference. I'm looking into 39mm PWK because that is what the builder told me to get.
  7. second pic showing the fuel inlet that faces downwards
  8. can anyone please tell me if these will work and what do i do with the nipple coming out of the bottom of the float bowl? also, what about the other nipple i put an arrow on? and where i put in the fuel hose from the gas tank, does it matter that these carbs have the nipple facing down?
  9. pm me a price shipped to miami florida 33185
  10. let me know how the sunoco 110 turns out.. i spoke to vp racing today and they recommended c12 or vp113. they said vp110 would probably work as its better than sunoco 110 but that c12 and vp113 are overall better fuels. still waiting for passion racing to call me back. thanks guys
  11. the plugs look good but then again i havent kept riding it. i let it happen twice and i stopped riding. im at a plus 7 timing b/c jim from passion told me to do that. its a 421 setup. he told me to do 110 octane but i think the problem is that sunocco 110 is not really the same as vp. im going to talk to him today. thanks guys
  12. sunoco says that gas is good up to 13:1 compression but im thinking i might need something rated for more compression since im mixing the fuel with oil... can anyone help????
  13. yes im tightening them hard enough... im runninig an uncorrected 12:1 compression ratio with 7 degree timing advance. i run sunocco 110 that gas is leaded/unoxygenated and 105 MON, 110 (r+m)/2
  14. Can someone tell me if when sparkplugs get loose - if its a problem with not enough octane or is it a problem with too lean of a jet? thanks
  15. guys Ive been reading a lot on what durations people port shearers for and i don't understand why on a stock cylinder the usual exhaust duration is around 198/200 and then on a cub the durations are usually a little lower like 196.. does anyone know why the cubs are ported with less duration?
  16. hi, can someone please give me the stock durations for the exhaust and intake on a stock cylinder im trying to see if i know how to do this degree wheel thing!!!
  17. i was told that for example, in a 4mm stroke you would port each window 2mm down and 2mm up after that you would have to do w.e else you would do for the regular drag/dune port
  18. can you explain what you mean by that?? dont you get the same outcome whether you use: - short rod with regular pistons - long rod with 795series (higher pin height) pistons (assuming both cranks are a 4mm stroke)
  19. does anyone here have this vito setup? If not, how about the cub guys? is this something to race at the track strictly or can this be something reliable i can run all day long? i ride about 4 hours a day, every sunday. gas consumption is not a problem it would be a pump gas (140psi), 4 deg timing, mild setup...
  20. hey guys why would someone say that their 4mm cylinders are ported for a short rod? I dont get it, wether a 4mm crank is short or long shouldnt change the porting... The only thing i see that changes is the pin height on the piston but both are a +4mm stroke.
