  1. Hit up the for sale section every day. You'll find a nice set of proven pipes for less than what the DGs are new.
  2. As far as tempurature goes, I believe the drag racers shoot for a tire temp close to that of the asphalt itself. But burning out also works the tire, etching it and ridding it of the glaze previously mentioned. Some guys use a roller with fine short needles to puncture the outter most tread, and I've seen some car guys run sand paper over the tires (side to side). Does it help? Who knows, but a good set up and tire with a soft compound will make the biggest difference, along with proper tire pressure.
  3. Now he's all "big time"... lol, congrats man. After the motor is finished, you'll be recieving a set of shocks to tinker with.
  4. When he replies back, I'll post up what he has to say on the subject.
  5. Basically what the title asks. I've got an IMS 5.5 gallon gas tank. My engine build includes the option of either CPI or Rocket R2 pipes, but the R2s look like they rise up and out quite a bit. Maybe enough to interfere with the oversized tank?
  6. Midlife, there are some cheap alternatives to better shifting. For a trail bike, check out the simple mods such as a modified shift shaft from FAST, modded shift star, and a lighter shift detent spring. All can be done without removing the engine. Also, I shortened my shift lever which seemed to help with ergonomics for me. Or... HJR, a site sponsor here, will cut the dogs on your trans to make for easier shifting with out turning it into a full override. This is the current option I'm weighing in on.
  7. These are new Chariot pieces, correct? I've been interested in them for a while. Whats the best price you could do on a natural raw finish piece?
  8. WARNING: Threadjacking for the good of the cause What is the power consumption of a direct drive lock out vs. a slingshot style? I'm looking at the picture (which looks badass) and I see that the fingers are going to be slapping the trans fluid quite a bit. I suppose flinging oil around will help throw oil up and lube the drive gears and such, but how much draw on the engine will that be if you're pegged at 9000rpm (which the lock out would be spinning at a hair over 3000rpm?) Maybe once it spins fast enough the fluid doesn't have enough time to flow back between the clutch fingers. Anyway, I'm looking into a lock out and any input is appreciated. Also, what is the weight difference between the two styles? To Midlife, the fingers (6 black pieces with allen bolt/nut through them) pivot on the base (the shiny star piece mounted to the clutch assembly). As the unit spins faster, the fingers with the bolts want to move outward from the center. On the other side of the pivot, the fingers will press against the clutch. As it spins faster, more centrifugal force is created on the fingers which in turn presses harder on the clutch disks. A slingshot uses centrifugal force, too. It places weighted balls in a machined track that "ramps". As the clutch spins faster, the balls are forced outward in there track, wedging between a fixed piece and a piece against the clutch. Since the fixed piece will not move, the result is pressure against the clutch disks. As you can see, both units can be "tuned" by increasing or decreasing the spinning weight. There, now I don't feel so bad about jacking your thread. lol
  9. My chain and sprockets looked new (they only had 10 hours on the set). My swinger bushings need to be replaced. Maybe the added torque in first and second was enough to pull the swing arm and axle in on the left side enough to place the rear sprocket closer and/or at a funky angle so the chain would skip? Anyways, the quad is apart and there isn't much I can do to troubleshoot until its back together in the spring. That is, if the problem still persists. Thanks for the input guys!
  10. ...and I should add that no part of my transmission looked suspicious. Actually, it looked hardly used at all. Anyways, the engines apart and recieving new parts as we speak. The problem should be solved. lol
  11. oooh, would this make an audible "click" that other riders could hear behind me? It was pretty loud. Anyways, I plan on new inner/outer clutch hub, plates, frictions, springs, and a lock up.
  12. Yes I do. I remember typing it out for ya monday but maybe it didn't go through as I don't see it in my outbox. I'll shoot it to ya again. Moving by myself (Fiance has a hell of sinus infection, lol) so I've been kinda busy. Anyways, Check your messages. Sorry bout that!
  13. Crank has been sold and shipped to 252, sorry. All I got left is the clutch cover.
  14. Methyman, I seen that searching on Ebay. Seems to be a good deal to me. I really don't need a polished show piece as it will get the shit kicked out of it racing and trails and such. I really want the quick change cover just for the ease of tuning a lock-up clutch without having to pull the entire cover off. Thanks guys.
  15. If I had a blaster, mine would be faster. Cuz I'm a rappin master... who am I kidding, its a disaster. Yea boi, sometimes drinking makes me wanna be black... but then I think about it and no, I really don't. Oh yea, my age! I was pronounced legal by the state of Wisconsin to consume alcoholic beverages for extremely inflated prices in non-public places and/or privatly owned and licensed taverns since the first of February, 2010.
  16. I'm just curious, would it be economical to have my stock clutch cover sent out to be machined so that it will work with a lock-up clutch? Is there a place anyone recommends? I'll need a lock-up clutch for my build, and I have a stock cover that I would like to do something with whether it be sent out and worked on or use it as a core extange for a little bit of money off??? Let me know what your opinions and thoughts are about this. Thanks!
  17. I bet you're runnin your bike way lean. I'd jump up considerably on your jet size and work your way down before you cause some serious damage.
  18. Still got the crank and clutch cover for sale!
  19. Sorry Donkey, I shipped them out today to mcraig. I'll keep an eye out for another set of cylinders for ya!
  20. I love the look of one out each side. I wonder how they'll work if I'm flying through the trails and jumps though? lol free bump for awesome prices.
  21. Carbs have just been sold. Still have the crank and the clutch cover. Cylinders will be on hold through tomorrow pending payment.
  22. Kwietshee and 252, check your messages for your tracking numbers. Carb setup- $110 Running stock crank- $40 Clutch cover-$30
  23. The dent is turning people off because it hinders more than just the appearance of the pipes. The expansion chamber's dimensions have been altered and might not be as efficient at reflecting fresh air/fuel back into the cylinder when the powerband comes on. Potential buyers might be turned off knowing there is a chance these pipes might not perform as good as clean pipes. I've heard of people using compressed air or filling the pipe with water and freezing it to pop the dents out, but that would be an "at your own risk" type of advice as I've never personally had to do it.
  24. Thanks for the bump Sandfrk33. My 4mil build wouldn't be possible if I had to purchase all of MY parts new, so I really owe it to the forums and the members here who've given me a good deal on used-but-functional parts. With that thought in the back of my head, I'd like to keep that spirit when selling parts that I don't need anymore. I know there has been a wave of deadbeat sellers here lately and everyone is more cautious because of it, but I just purchased '200 of bubble wrap and have been scavenging up boxes from Teegan's (my fiance)work preparing to ship out the first wave of parts Monday. Hopefully with enough positive feedback in the for sale section we can really get sellers and buyers motivated again... because I'll be needing some parts in the future! lol Anyways-carb setup, crank, and clutch cover still available and those prices are not set in stone. I'm holding the jugs until end of Wednesday for a member here. Toomeys are bubble wrapped (got a banana box and an egg box I'll try to get them into otherwise I'll make some rounds to the local stores to see what they got) and the shocks are wrapped and boxed ready to go tomorrow. PM me with any questions guys!
  25. Pipes sold and will continue their journey toward 252 shortly. Still got the carb setup, crank, and clutch cover. All reasonable offers will be entertained!
