If you can score some Elkas or Olins (or fox, axis, peps, ect) I recommend you to go for it. Works shocks are way better than stock shocks, but compared to other aftermarket shocks they're generally considered lower on the performance scale. (I switched from stock, to Works triples, to currently PEPs triples w rezzies)

banshee vs trx 700xx vs trx 450r
gotta_goatsfast replied to bansheedude55's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I've never seen a 700xx full throttle before, but I believe the engines derive from honda's 650 dirtbike (tuned a little different for 4 wheeler weight). The 450r and a piped banshee are VERY close. But, once you port it you'll pull on most 4 strokes. Go with a 4mil stroker and you'll be able to run away from them. Build a cub and you'll be able to hide behind the finish line before they even see it. lol -
lol, why do guys post up asking for references on a specific part or company AFTER they order it. Anyway, if you search you'll find plenty of reviews regaurding WCR. Personally, I would never go with them. I don't like to gamble my money, though.

We're not saying don't race. Just don't wager your title. lol. Its a rider's race really. I'm willing to bet who ever leaves the line quickest will win. -
Why limit yourself to just works shocks?

...or get it ported. Then you'll have a new 4 poke. -
X2. Post up good close up pictures. For pipes, detailed pictures is what sells. Just so you have an idea, I sold some T5s for 250 shipped. I just purchased CPIs for 285. Pipes (and most other parts) don't really bring in much money. You could be better off trading for other parts if you don't need the money. Anyways, good luck with the sale!

whats the best way fix a dented silencer
gotta_goatsfast replied to too_fazt's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
That may work for the expansion chamber, but the silencer is a bit thicker. You can try to tap the dent and pull it with a screw. If that works just spot weld the tapped hole. -
Domes... to really make a difference have the cylinders ported for the extra stroke. IMO never use a spacer plate. An extra place to leak.

banshee vs trx 700xx vs trx 450r
gotta_goatsfast replied to bansheedude55's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If they launch hard and get you out of the hole I doubt you'll be able to overpower them. Race them for fun, but don't do pinks! -
You'd be an idiot of you installed reeds and did not check jetting after the install. I'm not going to guarentee you'll need a richer main jet, but there is a strong possibility. Bump up a size, plug chop and if you're too rich go back to the original jet you had.

Tradin in the banshee.
gotta_goatsfast replied to bluebanshee421's topic in General Banshee Discussion
lol, you wouldn't make it a day in construction. Its all giving shit and taking shit there. Of course people here are going to think Banshees are awesome. WTF do you think this site is about? Check out a Raptor forum. To that crowd there is no better ATV. (or check out any 450 forum... ect) Anyway, I guess I didn't realise how thin-skinned some people are. I'll try to keep my wise cracks to a minimum. -
Tradin in the banshee.
gotta_goatsfast replied to bluebanshee421's topic in General Banshee Discussion
They're just givin him shit. No need to get all butt-hurt. Some people just can't handle the nature of the beast and need a more modest ATV to ride. Owning a Banshee is a hobby in itself. It takes a special skill to ride vs. todays easy-to-ride 4 strokes. The owner has to have a passion about it. If you look at jetting your quad for weather as a chore, its not for you. If you look at it as a project to pass time, then you've found the right machine. The Banshee is right for me, because I usually have the rpms up on the pipe and in the powerband anyway (low end torque wouldn't matter to me) but for my buddies with 4 strokes they are used to lugging it around instead of down shifting. To each his own, I have my reasons for NEVER owning a rapror. -

how do you guys think bout yz450fs?
gotta_goatsfast replied to bansheedude55's topic in General Banshee Discussion
The YZ450 is a smooth bike. Take it for a ride. If it impresses you then make the deal. -
Easy there killer. Sounds like you're a lot "closer" to raptors than most. I'm not going to go broke on a raptor. What do you get? Sub-par handling for today's technology. A piss poor power-to-cc ratio (450s will hang in a straight line with this big bore quad). And in my group of guys, these things cough up more parts than any other machine including dirt bikes and side by sides (all though one polaris comes close). IMO they work well for someone who likes to putt around on trails because they do offer monster torque at idle, but they don't like to be spun fast. Now, I know raptors can be made to handle and rev harder up top.... but thats even MORE money. I'll build up a banshee to out handle it, out run it, and outlast it for that kind of budget.

Its posted as blizzard warning up here too, Jeff. Take a day off, have some chickin soup and hump the wife all day. Thats my plan.
-
Get a -1 or -2 swing arm, wider axle, and some +2+1 a-arms with shocks and you'll never even consider a YFZ450 again. You'll wheelie and handle great with that 2 stroke hit.

If you do decide to go with 12cc domes, please video tape your first start up for us!

going back to my 2 into 1 pipe
gotta_goatsfast replied to lms1977's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I'm not big on snowmobiles, but the last radar run my buddies and I attended all the hottest 2 cycle sleds that launched hardest and were capable of higher top speeds had an exhaust for each cylinder. They also did NOT fit under the stock plastic. Maybe that is why a "bolt on" pipe for trail sleds are one pipe. To me, I need more proof that a certain product is better than the competition. Someone's "butt dyno" doesn't cut it. If that were true, we'd all be street racing with turbonators! -
Elevation is an important factor. Are your cylinders ported at all? Is your ignition advanced at all?

going back to my 2 into 1 pipe
gotta_goatsfast replied to lms1977's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I suppose people who run a 2 into 1 pipe really don't understand how two stroke pipes function. In very simple terms, you have a megaphone (the part of the pipe that gets bigger). This creates a low pressure wave right behind the exhaust pulse to aid in pulling exhaust gases out and also to pull fresh air/fuel through the transfers. Unfortunatly, it pulls the fresh mixture through the exhaust port, too. Next is a reverse megaphone (the cone shaped area that reduces in size until it is the diameter of the stinger). This reflects the soundwave toward the cylinder, forcing the fresh mixture back through the exhaust port right before the piston closes the port. Now-unless I'm missing something-the 2 into 1 pipe fails because only half of the air/fuel mixture residing in the exhaust would be reflected back. I say this because the soundwave reflecting from a single expansion chamber gets divided when it hits the "Y" portion of the pipe. So, half of the soundwave energy drives the fresh mixture in and the other half of this energy is either hitting the opposing cylinder's piston or worse yet fighting the exhausted gasses from being expelled from an open exhaust port. On the other hand, go ahead and purchase single pipes. I ride with two banshees that (used to) swear by them (along with single carbs) and I whooped the hell out of them in all types of riding from open fields to MX courses to tight woods with FMF pipes. Since then one has switched back to stock carbs and FMFs and the other dual 28pwks and Pro Circuits with mild porting. Unfortunatly for them I'm building a 421 serval. lol, but I really do think that anyone who has a 2 into 1 pipe should look into a used set of dual pipes aimed at low rpm performance.
