I would check it with a dial indicator referencing the bore. A baffle strike is the last thing you want. There's very little wiggle room from a 30 cal can with 762.

Make sure the threads on the barrel are concentric to the bore and that the shoulder is straight. There aren't enough threads there to have it rethreaded.
