PT High Rev don't fit on my rz engine
Thewhite replied to Thewhite's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Right now, the pipe are install on the cylinder spigot with a spring and hook to the frame mounting point. The pipe have slip joint, like nornmal pipe. The end of the pipe is about 1 inch lower that silencer beginning and it don't allow enought space to add the PV housing. I will take picture this evening. -

'ELKARACING_SHEE' is it the young kid that have problem with his father to install pipe ? If I'm correct, it ended by a hammer over the pipe and thge kid was looking for other brand pipe. -
PT High Rev don't fit on my rz engine
Thewhite replied to Thewhite's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The Frame is OK, not bent. I was able to mount my T5 with those cylinder and they fit perfectly. The only issue with the T5: you don't have enought spave for the PV housing and cable. Will make another try later this week. thanks -
Gentlemen, I tried to install my Paul tuner high rev pipe on my new RZ set-up, but I got no success. The pipe fit on the exhaust spigot, the hanger, but the end of the pipe is about 1 inche lower that the silencer beginning. Does someone else have experience that kind of problem. Now, I'm asking if the pipe are welded as per specfifiacation or something goes bad during the assembly or the RZ cylinder don't have the same geometry. The only way to make them fit will be to cut the tube after the tune pipe and reweld it once the front pipe and the silencer will be align. It may required to bend the tube. Second problem, the LH pipe don't allow enought space to fit the powervalve housing. This can be solve if I modify the tube from the tune pipe since it don't fit correctly. Any advise or experience will help. To reweld the tube and the tune-pipe, do you recommend TIG weld since the pipe is made form 20 ga steel or MIG weld is acceptable. thanks in advance, Martin

I done a leak down test on my new RZ350 set-up and I got the following: start with 6 PSI end up with 5 psi at 6 minutes end up with 4 psi at 12 minutes From what I heard, the test was to hold 6 psi for 6 minutes. Is my results are acceptable ? thnaks, Martin

In the past, I ran some PWK 28mm and I got the dry bowl issue when I did 2 to 3 hard pass from 1 to 6 gear at WOT. I bought a pair of PWK 33 last month, will see this summer.

If I use the T5 pipe, I will not be able to mount the power valve housing on the left hand cylinder. The pipe / cylinder clearance is not enought to boult the housing. The T5 pipe can only be monted if I intent to jam the power valve at the open fully open position.

Last time that I did it, I used a zip gun to push the bolt about 4'' and I cut the other end. Then repush the bolt about one inch to clear the frame and the swing arm will free fall on the ground. You will need a new sleve and bolt.

Someone have a comparaison of the powerband and the peak hp-RPM between the T5 and ther PT high rev ? My current RZ cylinders were ported for T5 and I'm thinking to run the PT. thanks
-
are you able to get a picture of the RZ left hand cylinder with the trinity stage 4 mounted? thanks

I'm building my first RZshee and I'm not sure witch pipe to go between the Rocket and the Paul-Turner hign rev. Have you any opinion for that set-up? and have you tried the PT high rev (to compare) ? thanks, Martin

agree with that, I ride my banshee since 2005 with a twist throttle and the feeling is amazing. Will never go back to a thumb. I ride every thing from tight trail to sand pit. But I have to agree the twist can be scarry at the beginning. Don't go too hard and follow a learning curve about how to handle the twist during tight turn. Usually when people get scarry, they freeze and keep the throttle with their right hand .... bad bad bad ... take the habit realease thottle (same as for wheelie). Enjoy your twist !

Looking for a set of Paul Turner High Rev pipe to complete my RZ set-up. To be ship near Montreal, Canada. thanks, Martin

Also, unless I missed this within the other posts, for the RZ conversion you will also need to make exhaust manifolds. The rz manifolds are bolt ons not one peice like on the shee. Chris I got some flanges (spigot) from Toomey Racing, the Blaster exhaust have the same flange pattern. I called the tech service and the guy told me that the outside diameter of teh manifold is the same as a banshee. Two weeks later when I received the parts I found I smaller diameter (about 40mm instead of 45mm). To fix the problem I got some machined sleeve to press on. I also turn the inside diameter to match the exhaust port size. For sure a 2 stroke engine will never have the bottom end of a 4 stroke. Is there the beauty of the beast. But the power valve allow to have the power of a duner engine with a more decent bottom end. I haven't run the bike yet but by what Jim (Passion Racing) said to me: 'this set-up will make low to mid 70 hp at wheel, Will see this summer. thanks, Martin
-
The lead time of Jim is not always the best, but the porting look like a 5 axis milling machine. I know he is also working full time some where else. I tried to post pic, but I need t figure how. For the pipe, I will definitively go with the PT High Rev.

The reason why I choose the RZ cylinder is the wider powerband. If I compare to a banshee engine, I will have more bottom torque and a freaking top end. At low rpm the power valve will be close the exhaust port about 2 mm more that the banshee and at high RPM the exhaust port will be open 3.5 mm higher. That have been said: I ride everything from tight trail to small dune and sometime drag racing (for the summer). During winter, in Canada, we received a lot of snow. The only place tahtI can ride is on some compacted snow trail (like for snowmobile). Will try to post pic during week-end.

am i shooting my self in the foot

I ran 15-41 with 20 inch rear tire and 14-41 during winter with 22inch paddle tire(4snow tire) -
From my point of view, reed spacer is another place to get an air leak. In a perfect world a better manifold will solve the carb clearance issue.

The RZ350 engine built look easy at the beginning, but it's not really an bolt-on kit. Last year I blow a crank, one piston and dome on my banshee motor. Then I begin to get parts, here are the listing: Tranny mod: a modified RZ350 shfit drum with a bearing on the stator side (from WCR) RZ fork with roller pin modded shift shaft (from FAST) Shift star mod (mull engineering) shift pro lever (with bearing) magnum clutch basket cascade pankage bearing Engine: RZ350 1985 cylinder 11 ports design (by Passion Racing Engines, need to post pic, the porting is amazing) power valve cable and housing RZ350 Pro-design head with custom domes (by Passion Racing) Brand new welded crank Wiseco piston 65mm ported case (by FAST) Tommy Blater B1 flange for pipe adaptor (inside diameter matched to the exhaust port) Intake: V-Force 2 cage with new reeds BOSS intake with cross-over Keihin PWK 33mm carb CFM aluminium air box with K&N pods new rubber boots Electric: Zeeltronic programmable computer (advance and power valve opening) power valve servo-controller (came from the exup valve of a Yamaya R1) RZ350 stator and flywheel RZ350 voltage regulator/rectifier (I haven't found a brand new aftermarket replacement part) Other: All engine bolt are new with an allen key type head, high grade 12.9 and zinc plated or Stainless. Fastenal can supply all type of bolting ... but not cheap. Brand new connector Yamaha type. Addinf zerk to the swing arm casing and bolt. all parts are in house except PT pipes, new CFM air box and Zeeltronic computer. It took about 10 month to get parts, porting and money ......... very expensive ...... It can be more simple, but all parts are matched and I take the time to finallyse all the small details. Will post pics soon. I also need to say thanks to 'Passion Racings Engines' and 'Farm and Sand Toy' for their advises and tips. They are very good guys: I live near Montreal in Canada and I bought 80% of my parts to those guys in the US.

I just found that my T5 pipes won't fit on my RZ350 cylinder and I will perfer to not dent the pipe for power issue. I know that the Rocket pipe and the Paul Turner high rev will fit, but I wondering if someone have mounted other brand pipe. My engine builder (Passion Racing Engine) don't like the Rocket and prefer the PT High rev. But personnaly I don't like the layout of the PT: they are very exposed to flywing rock. I hear that the Trinity and old FMF can clear the power valve housing, but I'm not sure. I also prefer a mid-top end pipe. Where is the best place to buy the Paul turner pipe thanks

how is the bottom end torque with the Rocket if you compare to T5 ? -
exhaust port question with rocket pipes
Thewhite replied to tommy346's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
what pipe have you use in the past and what do you think of your new rocket pipe. I need to choose between the rocket and the paul tuner high rev for my RZ set-up and I would like to have some input before to buy it. thanks -
did I need to keep the big outter oring to install it on the magnum basket or I can discard it. thanks
