Yeah I know watch you mean I been on since June and It's like I've learned so much. The banshee is like in it's own class and after chatting with some of the builders and just picking theyre brains on what they know its like wow, where have I been. Ontop of it my friends started getting shees after I got mine, but when I first got it I completely took it apart to learnt how everything works, then put it back together, rode it a little and now its back apart so I can do all the mods that are in my sig. I turn 16 Oct. 25 though

dont feel bad bro , I am about to be 16, but I have been on here for a while and this site is unlimited knowledge. And I have been around 2-strokes for most my life so this isnt very new to me. So feel free to e-mail me at anytime if you need some help bro [email protected], also just make a post for whatever you need and the guys on here are more than willing to help you out. Welcome to the HQ btw
-
Thanks bro. A couple people I trust recommended me to him, and when I talked to him he was familiar with the banshee and when I said I wanted an agressive trail port he knew exactly what I was talking about and said when he ports it he is going to raise the exhaust ports so it is recomended that I run a higher compression head and I said I was going to run a NOSS or a Pro-design and he said that will work. So he seems to know what he is doing, but he is not just banshee's, he has been doing all kinds of small engines, mostly MX and drag bikes, but a friend of mine had is shee cylinders fixed like a week before me by this guy and he said he has delt with banshee's before, and I figured since all he does really is MX and drag bikes mostly 2-strokes he should be able to do a good job after 20+ years, but my main concern and reasoning for starting this post was because I didnt think there was anything that could be done after me getting it ported except going with a dune port, with out going to a 4mil or cub set up
-
While your bike still runs it is definantly not running to its full potential. Even on the Toomey website it states "This all new pipe, designed specifically for the standard non-modified Yamaha Banshee Engine, creates more low-end and mid-range power AND peak power than any other pipe design available." That's straight off the website if you want to check. I dont really want to argue but I have T-5's because multiple builders from on here have told me this, and I have a friend that switched from T-6's to the T-5's because he was told this and noticed the difference and he only had bolt-ons
-
ok thanks guys, he seemed knowledgable about them, but then again he does all kinds of small motors
-
No T-6's are pretty much just for stock and a couple bolt-ons. Go with the T-5's if your going to do more than a clean-up port than dont go with T-6's. The more you ride the more power your going to want so just go with the T-5's
-
Yeah my bad I was thinking of a cub setup, sorry about that. If you can do both do it! I was about to do the same, however my cylinders are always being ported already so I'm going to hold off on that
-
I havnt heard of this happening but its good to know since after my cylinders get out of the shop I was going to run that exact set up. the only thing i can think of is use like the stock exhaust clamps
-
He is familiar with the banshee how much idk, the guy i took it to does like any kind of engine that doesnt belong in a car, so Im almost thinking of seeing about cancelling and sending out to someone cuz i dont have the $ right not to get a crank itll be another month or so, but isnt that kinda messed up to just cancel
-
Does the builder need the crank to do this because I dont have the money right now and I can change what porting but the builder will be getting to my cylinders in a couple days. Theyre sitting in the shop
-
Ok so Im have all the mods in my sig... well the porting is being done right now and I have to get the crank welded and order the new timing plate, so almost done, but I had a question. Is there any thing I can do to make more power over what I have, without having to get new cylinders and pull the motor apart again. I know I can go with a dune port, but is there anything else. Maybe running alky, cuz I haven't ordered my carbs yet so I could order alky carbs, but I think I may want more power and I think I've reached my limits with out replacing the cylinders. The only reason why im not going with this option in the first place is my cylinders are in the shop right now, the guy hasnt touched them yet, but I think that would be kinda of messed up just to cancel
-
Im getting my cylinders ported right now, but as soon as I get them back and get them painted Ill post pics of that, and I am considering doing my cool head too
-
It depends on your style of riding. A 4mil is more light switch type of power so if you do alot of trail riding I'd go with an agressive trail port. To go with this IDK what your other mods are but with the mods in my sig I have to get the crank true and welded and im going with a heavy duty clutch with heavy duty springs, but thats about it. Hope that answers your question

Welcome to the site man. Yeah I know what you mean. Im 6'3" and about 200, and my ex girlfriend had a blaster, I bought my shee this last summer and was amazed with the difference. Good luck with your search bro
-
As far as I know putting it in with out porting will make it run like crap, you'd be better off not installing the +4. 66mm is like what .080, that is pretty far gone. Your best bet would be see if you can find a set of stock cylinders, even on here for cheap they dont have to be stock bore, but with no porting done to them and have it ported to your 4mil. Put a post in the wanted section for a set
-
Here's some pics of how they came out
-
theyre not installed on the bike yet but yeah ill post them
-
Yeah there should be some kind of little o-ring on the header where it attaches to the cylinder and a little High temp liquid gasket should work, but as far as the tranny it sounds almost like the cable isnt being pulled as far as it should be, but I could be wrong like I said I'm not use to dealing with the lock outs

NEED TO READ This is for some of the newer guys on here just to help out, and I thought it would be a cool little trick to post. I found a pretty good way to ceramic coat your pipes or whatever you want that can be done at your house. This is not as quality as getting it profesionally done but it does work and holds up pretty well, or it has for me atleast. Duplicolor has a high heat paint called "Duplicolor High Heat with ceramic" it's thhe 1200 degree formula. Prep whatever surface your going to be using with a scotch brite pad or I used 220 grit sand paper. Rinse it off with some water and dry, or use a prepwipe pad. Do this in a place that is 60-92F preferably 68-72F. Then paint your part, do three coats 2 light and the last a little heavier, allow only about 10 minutes in between coats. If you need to flip the part over and do the other side then wiat 3 hours for paint to cure a little bit. once it is painted to your satisfaction give it a day or so to cure. After this cure it in an oven for 2 hours at 300F or an hour and a half at 400F then let it cool. This step needs to be done with windows open and fans blowing the smoke out the windows because it will create smoke but not alot. Once it has cooled it is ready to install. I have only tried this on exhaust but am going to try it on cylinders and my head. In case you forget what to do it is on the back of the Duplicolor spray can, they have multiple colors, so if you can't afford to get it professionally done or your a do it yourself kind of guy, try this!
-
Im not sure about the clutch bro cuz im not use to dealing with the lock outs, but the ehaust spatter that means its not sealing right for whatever reason which is bad. I have not experienced this myself so im not 100% sure, but I have heard multiple times that it can over heat from this. its probably just the seal try cleaning both surfaces and using a little liquid gasket, you can get it at any auto parts store

what is normal compression for a stock banshee
278 replied to bad ass camaro's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thats really low like they said i think it should be like 120-125 stock. So try a defferent tester and if its the same get it rebuilt, like they said above if its apart you should get it ported, because you will want to sooner or later -
So guys I though that they discontinued the shee in '06, that yfz350x sure does look like a shee to me lol
-
Yeah go with T-5's. T-6's aer just mostly for a stock bike but the T-5's are one of the most popular pipes, because they are good for stock and even better when you mod your bike. As far as the mods your doing... dont bore it unless you have to, just hone the cylinders.
-
Thats why banshee owner's and actually anyone that loves customizing vehicles are more artists than sales men. We do it cuz we love it not to make a buck  But sorry to see your bike go... if your still getting rid of it, its a nice lookin shee

Its true though like i showed my girl that shit and she was like now you understand me, you should listen to it. I was like dont talk to me like that
