  1. Me riding at Beaver Oklahoma last July 4th: My nephew riding my Shee at Beaver Spring Break 2010:
  2. Got lucky and only the left one was torn. Wasn't leaking at the bottom at that tear but there was also a tear at the crossover tube and it went all the way through. Put the spares on late today and cleaned the carbs and all is good again. Sure glad I caught it before a meltdown since my engine is still pretty fresh.
  3. Thanks for the help. Will get them changed so I can ride later. Guess I should order another set so I will have some spares.
  4. Was digging in a box of misc. parts I got from a guy. Found a pair but they must be aftermarket or something. They don't have the little rubber protrusions on the reed side. I know for V-Force reeds we cut these off on a friends bike. Anyway will these work ok with the stock reed cage set up? I have Boyesen Power reeds on stock cages.
  5. Banshee would not idle today so started investigating. Noticed the intake boots on the reed/engine side are getting some tears in them. Anyway what intakes would be best? Stock ones are arounbd $21 each. Found some UPP stock replacement ones on E-Bay but they are $80 and that seems a little steep. Are there any others available and if so what would be best to use?
  6. I ended up with an older one in a box of stuff. It ended up having a wire pinched between the timing plate and the stator housing. Heat shrunk the pinched area, floated the ground and did the DC lighting mod and have had no issues. Knock on wood!! I talked to the guy at Rick's Motorsport Electrics and his stuff is all I would buy new from here on out. He told me he would be happy to rewind the Ricky Stator one "when" it dies. Not if but "when". Still carry my stock Yamaha one on a timing plate just in case.
  7. Mine was doing that last fall and it ended up being the plug caps. I forget what brand I bought but think it was NGK. They fit nice and tight and with some di-electric grease never have had an issue again.
  8. I ride in Kansas and at LS OKLA. I have FMF Gnarly's w/Power Core II silencers. I end up with 290's in 40-60 degree weather w/lid, 280's in 70-90 degrees w/lid and usually pull the air box lid above 90's rather than rejet
  9. Got my GoPro wide off E-Bay right after the first of the year for around $135. They usually don't come with a memory card but they aren't terribly expensive. Good camera for the money.
  10. Probably not even 12 miles. I live right across from Walnut Grove Trailer Court south of 24.
  11. My boy and I will be at Liberal for 3 days starting next Saturday (March 13-16). Going to Beaver on Sunday. Do you know if there is public access to the Cimmaron River out by The Mighty Sampson Bridge? Used to live in Liberal 20 some years ago and always saw tracks in the sand but never rode out there.
  12. I had my stock foot pegs and foot guards done with Line-X. I like it and it cleans up nice. Should wear for years. Got tired of retouching the paint on those parts to keep them looking nice.
  13. I wired mine exactly according to those instructions and it works great. The only difference was I got a very small battery from the Yamaha shop and mounted it inside the back of the air box behind the air filter. Have had it to the dunes 5 times over the summer and all works well. The only thing I had to do was use 20 watt bulbs in the handlebar sockets and 35 watt ones in the stock fender sockets. Ricky Stator told me that for the system to keep up with the battery and lights the total draw could not exceed 120 watts.
  14. A friend gave me this swing arm. It has been repaired and I never mounted it so know nothing about it. I shotpeened it and got it ready for powdercoat but just don't think I will end up using it. I like to trail ride and I just don't think the extended arm will do me any favors. Not sure what to price it at so pm me some offers. Jerry
  15. Looks like good weather for Waynoka for Friday and Saturday. Weather Channel dot com shows 72 for Friday!!
  16. I may be there. Heading in from Manhattan, KS. My ex has our boy for that holiday so figured I'd ride rather than sit home twiddling my thumbs.
  17. Rotella 15W40. $11.99 a gallon once in a while on sale at Tractor Supply.
  18. I ordered a new stock one for mine through the local dealer. I think it was $14. I bet you can get some fool on E-Bay to buy the boost bottle for that much!!
  19. I won't run without an inline filter. When I first tore into my Banshee, I heard something rattling around in the tank. It was the so-called filter screen that is supposed to be in the petcock. It had fallen out and was letting unfiltered fuel in to the carbs. What is worse, a little restriction ( which shouldn't amount to much if you change the filter regularly) in flow, or running crap through the carbs and engine?
  20. Mine was that way when I got it. The local Yamaha shop ordered me some aftermarket carb kits for around $12 each. Put new inlet needle and seats in and problem solved. The Viton tips on the needle get worn over time and nothing can be done except replace them.
  21. I have my pics set so anyone can see them. Share them with my dad all the time and he isn't a member on facebook.
  22. The link I posted earlier was messed up. Wouldn't let me edit so reposting the info. Thanks to regalrocket and Whitbread and the write ups they did, I managed to mod a spare set of a-arms for my Banshee. The pics are mixed in an album on my FaceBook page here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2010235&id=1506481251&l=2b22c62b5f The arms are off to powder coat at a local window manufacturing plant that does outside work. I will post some pics when I get them back. No immediate plans to put them on. Just wanted to have a set ready so if my stock joints or arms got damaged I wouldn't be down for any significant amount of time.

  24. Ditto on the Rotella. The parts guy at the Yamaha dealer here recommended it and I have had no problems.
