  1. Thanks for all the info. I bought this thing from a guy for cheap. It was rode hard and ragged out.. Rode it once then tore it down. I haven't got a chance to try it yet but I will tonight. I didn't put a lot of thought into it when I first noticed what had happened. I just assumed it was threaded. I'm determined to get it out without splitting the cases, hopefully I can just turn the bike on its side, tap it, and have it fall right out. Thanks for the link on the manual. I'm about to download it right now
  2. Lol you would think right? We flew out to pick it up for someone else. It was a 2004 duramax that was "ready for the drive" The wheel bearing was making a noise when we pulled out of Tacoma.
  3. What's the name of that steakhouse in Texas I keep hearing about? Also, I think we are going to drive straight through. No hotels or anything. We have 3 people. One driving, one sleeping in the back, and one keeping the driver awake. We are going to rotate. We made it back from Tacoma, WA to Raleigh in 2.5 days doing it like this...and we broke down 3 times. One of those times had to replace a front wheel hub/bearing on the side of the road.
  4. This is what I was afraid of. I'll try a magnet tomorrow. what about a left hand drill bit if the magnet doesn't work?
  5. I do need to get a manual. I'll order one when I order the new part. I'll just feel better when I get the broken pieces out
  6. So the ball and rod is broke off inside? I was thinking it was threads. Any ideas on how to get it out so I can install a new one?
  7. went to install my new clutch because last time I rode it, it wanted to stay engaged the entire time. Pulled the old one out and this is what happened. Not sure if it broke before, or while I was taking it out. I just don't know what to do. Going to try to extract it, but not sure if it will work. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do? Am I in for more work and $$? I'm just ready to finish this thing.
  8. Thanks for the tips. I'll start calling some of those places when we are a few states away. If they run out, i'll pick some up at a race shop in another state
  9. Thanks for all the info. The trailer we are pulling is pretty small. it will barley fit 2 bikes if you put them sideways. Will bring extra tires for sure. We don't have registration on atvs here in NC so hope that's not a problem. So the gas needs to be in red jugs? That's crazy. All I have is the white VP jugs. Guess i'll need to go buy some red ones. I didn't know race gas wasn't suppose to be used out there, do they ever check that stuff?
  10. I don't have a camper to take. I have a 4door sierra that we are going to take and pull a small trailer with 2 bikes on it, and the other bike in the back. I was looking online and found a place where you can rent campers on site. May be doing that. now if there are other people in my area who want to go in on a rental camper or something and pull a bigger trailer and drive out, I would be down for that too
  11. Has anyone else ever drove to Glamis from the east coast? MapQuest shows 2400 miles and 35 hours from Raleigh, NC. We are planning on coming the week of Thanksgiving. I'm bringing my Banshee and 2 other friends are coming bringing a 450r and a 400ex. I've been twice before but it was while I was in San Diego for the week and I just drove out and rented from a place in Yuma. This year we want to bring our own bikes. Looks like it will be cheaper to drive and ride our own bikes then it would be to fly out and rent bikes. I just have a few questions: Parts- Where can I get parts for my banshee in the dunes if something was to break? is there anywhere? If not, what should I bring with me other then a bag of spark plugs? Gas- 2 of the bikes we are bringing must run 110 octane. Is there anywhere in the area we can get it? Registration- Since we are from NC, Would we need any kind of registration for our bikes other then the dune pass? Is there anywhere else to get firewood in the area that isn't $25 a load? Has anyone else made the drive across the county to ride this place? I've always wanted to do it and I think the drive out would be as fun as the ride there.
  12. Driving out from NC the week of thanksgiving. I need to run 110 in my banshee AND my friends 450r. I don't really want to haul a 55 gallon drum across the country. Is there any place I can buy it on the way or at glamis? I've done a search and it seems there's a lot of old info. Will we have any problems? Last thing we want to do is drive 2200 miles only to not find gas.
  13. Mine was rough when I got it also. Ended up tearing it down to the frame and powder coating it. Been working on this thing for a year and a half (with other projects going on at same time). Be prepared to spend some money to make it "show quality". over 6 grand in mine so far and it's still not done.
  14. I was told not to use a master link but to pen it together?
  15. Mostly just whenever. I live about 45min from there and use to go about every other weekend. So what kind of paddle tires do people run during an event? Sounds like I may need 2 sets.
  16. Good info. I called one company and they would only insure it for like $2500. I'm going to need it insured for at least 5k and that's less then I have in it.
  17. Isn't that what comes on the 400ex stock? Someone else just told me last night to find some 400ex tires. Those look like them, i'll order those. Thanks
  18. Which tires work best on the drag strip there? My bike is almost finished and it's time to get some. Once person said the pro wedge 2s work good there and someone else said they don't hook up there so i'm not sure? What's everyone else run? I just want a tire that will hook on the track and also be good to ride around on hard packed ground. No mud or wooded trails. Any ideas?
  19. Nevermind. Bought some new shearers
  20. Looking for a nice clean set of pipes in NC. Not sure if I want drag pipes or not. Really want a set of T5s with nice chrome. Anybody have anything? Thanks
  21. I need exhaust for my bike but damn....i'm having a hard time forking over $600 for some pipes. I really want some T5s or in frame drag pipes. They are going on a freshly built bike so don't want to put anything that looks bad on it. Looks like east coast atv wants $585 + $30 for shiping. is there anywhere i can get them cheaper? Thanks
