  1. Does anyone know what thread size the bolts are that hold the silencers on? I've lost my bolts and need to get new ones. Want to pick some up on the way home from work. Thanks
  2. I need a choke valve and 2 float valves for a set of Keihin PJ 36mm carbs. Anybody have anything. Thanks
  3. Charges $60 per carb. Includes new gaskets, etc. One side is leaking so just blowing out the jets and cleaning wont fix it. Already tried. How much is a carb kit with gaskets? If it's a lot less then $120 for both, i'll just do it myself. I just need the leak fixed. The motor is already there so I figured I would just let them do it, but if I can buy the kit much cheaper, ill do it myself. They are 35mm carbs
  4. If a built motor sits for 2 years, should you rebuild the carb before you ride it? One of the carbs had a bad leak last time I rode it. Trying to be on the safe side but not sure if it's worth $120.
  5. I had problems with my arms also. Bracket not welding right. They took care of it
  6. Nevermind, if it's the weekend after the 17th i'll be out of town
  7. I'll be there. Only 45min drive for me
  8. Went to install my new in frame shearers and noticed they didn't come with clamps. What does everyone else use? I know I can use just a hose and a hose clamp but doesn't look that great. I seen some chrome ones once before but cant remember where I seen them. Also, does anyone know the tap size for the holes in the rear of the frame where the silencers bolt to? Had the frame powder coated and I need to run a tap in there. Would just check the bolt BUUUUUTTTT I lost them so I have to get new ones. Thanks
  9. Can someone tell me which clutch pushrod I need? Mine broke off inside and at the bolt head at the clutch. So I guess I need everything. I was able to get the old one out without splitting the case but I don't want it to happen again. I also need that new part that goes down into the case that the cable hooks to because it looks worn out. Found some stock ones on ebay, but is there anything better then stock? Thanks
  10. LOL I know that's right. I'm 6 grand into mine and it's not even finished. And I started with a complete bike. It adds up quick when those "old parts" don't look good on that "new" frame. If I were you i'd look for a parts bike
  11. How did you do yours? Just clean it really well, prime and paint? I'm sure it takes a while to get clean. But...I can clean it. Just never took one completely apart. Don't really want to
  12. I like the sand blast look but I don't want to take the motor completely apart. I may just use the case paint that sprinkerman suggested
  13. Well my build is just about finished..(well...was). Had to pull the motor back out to split the cases (haven't done it yet). Everything on this bike is either brand new, or has been powder coated to look brand new. the engine looks the worst out of everything. Is there anything I can paint it with while its out of the bike that will look decent and hold up? I'm getting chrome case covers but the case itself looks like crap. I see some people have theirs powder coated, how much work is involved in doing that? I don't want to do much, maybe just tape everything off and spray it with some high temp black.? What does everyone else do?
  14. Located in NC. PM me if interested http://raleigh.craigslist.org/sno/4121331303.html
  15. Gotcha. Thanks. Looks like i'm going to split the case and do that. Thanks for all the help
  16. Is there a write up on this anywhere? I could machine the parts, I'm just not sure what i'm looking for. This may sound stupid but what are the "dogs"?
  17. Or I could thread it and put a threaded plug there so if it ever happened again, it would be a quick fix.
  18. Thanks for all the tips. I'll be sure to keep everything clean. I've also read on here of a few people drilling a 1/8 inch hole in the side of the case and using a punch to knock it out. I'm a machinist so I could ream it to .125 and make a plug to press in very tight. bad idea?
  19. Ok so I pulled the clutch cable lever out of the case and I can see the other end of the shaft. It's a little mushroomed. you can see a good sized burr on it. Is there enough play in there where I would maybe push it from one end and pull from the other? I tried turning it on the side and tapping on the trans shaft with a hammer while pulling with a small magnet and it didn't work. Any ideas?
  20. I haven't pulled that out but it does makes sense. I'll take it out and look.
  21. yeah I turned the bike over on the side to where it was pretty much at the balance point on 2 wheels and (after the basket slid off) I tapped on the shaft with a hammer. I didn't tap it hard though. I'll try it again when I get home from work and tap it a little harder.
  22. Ok it's not coming out with the magnet. it's loose inside and will slide back and forth but will gets to a point and wont come any farther. I downloaded the manual and looked at a parts diagram and I just do not see what could be holding it. Is it time to split the case or are there any other ideas?
  23. Sorta...it's still in there. I've been so busy lately and out of town, I Just haven't had time. I did spend about 30min messing with it. If you stick a screwdriver in there you can spin it pretty easy. You can even grab onto part of it with a flathead and pull it out, just not enough to get my fingers on it. I feel much better knowing that it's just in there loose. I'm going to pick up a magnet and I think that will take care of it. I messed up though. I forgot that I didn't have the nut holding the clutch basket onto the shaft when I leaned the bike on the side. The basket came off and hit the floor and broke one of the tabs. So now need to order a new clutch basket and hopefully I can get this thing back together.
