I need a new clutch for my bike. what all do i need? can i just buy the disks? right now i'm just trying to get by as cheap as possible and will upgrade to a heavy duty later on
Got the swingarm on, chain, sprockets, +4 axle, and brake disk. Put the old wheels back on it so I could roll it around. Still need new tires/wheels, plastics, clutch, chain roller and exhaust. These plastics are for sale
ok so I guess i'm going to go with a 14/41 on a 21 inch tire. Next question without starting another thread...which tires should i go with? Mostly ride at Busco beach in NC. Its sand but hard packed sand
I guess I could have been more descriptive. The gearing that was on the bike when I took it apart was WAY too low (not even sure what it is, I’ll have to look). It would wind out just way too fast. 1st gear was just useless. Since I need to buy new chain, sprockets, and tires, and 60% of the bikes time will be spent drag racing I figured I would see what would be best to put back on there. I believe stock is what?..14-41?
Figured i would post a few pics of the bike i keep asking questions about.
Started out with this that i picked up for $1650
had the motor built, ran one tank of gas through it and broke a ball joint. Decided to powercoat the frame.
back from powder coat
current
Waiting on 2+2 axle and bearings to come in this week so i can have it a roller again. Still need quite a few things.
Can't decide if i want to do away with the yellow front fender and go with new black ones or not, AND if i do that, I cant decide if i want to keep the stock grill with a chrome insert or go fullbore.
I'll post more pics as it comes together
Just looked them up. Seems like a lot of money to spend on bolts that you won't see or use anyway. Where could i find just the ones i want? like for a arms, swingarm, motor and plastics?
What does everyone do about bolts and nuts? I'm rebuilding my bike and it seems stupid to reuse the same dirty, rusty bolts on a fresh powdercoated frame with all new parts. I don't know, it just stands out to me and i want new ones. I would paint them but i know it would just chip. Things like swingarm, a arm shock bolts, etc. I'm assuming you need a higher grade bolt. what does everyone else do? is it best to go through yamaha or is there somewhere else i can go?
I could always sell it and get another one later if it doesn't work out. I really wanted it in black, but roundhouse would be nice.
What kind of price are we talking for a used roundhouse in black? All the ones i could find were $350+
Thanks. I already have the +2 arms on it. Guess I should go ahead and order a +4 axle. Most of the races around here are on dirt/hard sand. Guess i should have stuck with the stock arms for drag racing. thanks for the advice
I ended up ordering a +6 off ebay for $230 shipped. I know it's not the best but i'm just ready to get this bike done. I'm a machinist in a fab shop so if it looks weak, i'll beef it up.
