  1. Ide get the '97 if it was in good shape, check out the frame for bends or cranks do a compression test on it. Just check it out real good. About the only difference between them is the '03 has a brake light, with the crank being bad you will probably have to rebuild the top end also. Hope that helps. Good luck and welcome to BHQ
  2. The brass nipple is an overflow. An air leak can cause it to backfire because it will cause it to run lean. Check your intake boots for cracks. They will crack around the carb clamps and where the crossover tube goes. Is the balance tube in? Its the black tube that goes between the carbs.
  3. Do a leak down test to check for air leaks. Make sure the wires from your pickup coil didnt get into the flywheel. Do you still have the tors and ebrake hooked up? When did it start doing this?
  4. Full set of ITP sand stars on ITP wheels with 3 trips on them $300. Stock reed cages with what looks to be boyesen reeds but not for sure what kind they are one reed cage has some scuffs in it where the intake boots mount will get pics of it if anyone is interested in them the spacers are included also $40. Lazer star billet bar clamp and light mount new in package $45. Cascade grill $40. Polished PRM grabbar has some road rash but cleaned it up the best i could $40. I also have a blue rad shroud a couple of inbox k&n filters and lots of stock parts. Pm me if you see anything you want.

    I have a set of r.i.s. rear billet pipe hangers brand new still in the package, and a msr clutch lever. I'll get pics of them tmw. I have some other billet odds and ends laying around to. Pm me if your interested.

  10. Welcome to bhq. You should invest in a clymers manual. Like muggzy said check the tors also check the e-brake and the wires coming from the throttle. Most ppl unhook all of that.

  12. I agree your better off buying a set, they are machined matched to eachother.
  13. You may be rich. What are your mods and what needle's are you running? Did you unplug the black box for the tors? Its under the tanks on the left side towards the front.
  14. Make sure the wires coming from your pickup coil didn't get rubbed by the flywheel. I had the same problem and that's what caused it. I also agree with sleeper your jetting sounds lean. When I had the problem it acted rich.
  15. It may be lean. How do your plugs look, whats your elevation, and temp? What needles are you running?
  16. Go up a few sizes on the main. When jetting you always want to start rich.

  18. I have one from trinity it's billet and holds 2 plugs. Here's a pic its the only one I could find on my computer.
