  1. Wow daj, I had some respect for you before this. Seems it's tougher for people to be real men rather than keyboard crybaby tough men these days... Would we be talking like this and taking smart-ass pot shots toward each other if we were setting around the camp fire at the dunes? Or standing at a race and shootin the breeze? Hell no, so why do it on here? Jared and I would be making fun of Kansas, it was a long hot boring drive and I don't like the state. I don't see the harm in that though. Out right attacking somone is a little over the line though. I try not to say anything on here I wouldn't say face to face. Right now I'm just a little confused as to what the FAST camp is all about... Isn't professionalism supposed to surpass this childish bs on the internet? Guess not... that's probably why Jeff never responded to Jared when he needed a top end and some domes a while back... If the FAST stuff is so great why wasn't Jeff eager to help Jared out? I guess when you have enough business you can tell anyone who doesn't swing off your nuts 24/7 to fuck off...
  2. There's not set rule... I ran +5 with 91 octane but I only had 135psi compression. +4 is a good rule though, especially if your getting close to the 140-150 range in compression. If your lower on compression it will take a little more timing without detonating...
  3. Umm, excuse me, he didn't get the bike. I did... Jared is a good friend and offered to go down there with me to pick it up which was really cool. He does not speak for me though, you would do good to sort out your differences with him and NOT involve me. I can't believe you guys can't take a little playful ribbing... All's he said was when we get the stickers off it'll be faster. Guess what... There would have been FAST stickers on my other bike but Jeff didn't send them when he told me he would on the phone. Maybe he forgot, he's a busy dude which should be some testament of his work. I've never had a bad thing to say about Jeff or his work on here... Bigred has his opinions and they may or may not be shared by me but that is MY CHOICE. Jared will be giving a fair amount of advice on this thing and helping wrench on it I'm sure. If that bothers ya'll I guess you can get over it. If anyone hates to see me work on my OWN BIKE I'll sell it to the first F.A.S.T. nutswinger who steps up with the right amount of cash...
  4. VF3's are one of the LAST things I would spend your money on. Not that they aren't great, but you can spend less on a set of ported stock cages (DIY) and a set of Boysen dual stage reeds. They run good, some claim better than VF3 even..
  5. Why would you be concerned? I understand the differences between dune porting and drag porting and have definitely considered that. If I can't stand the powerband I can always get a set of stock cylinders and have them dune ported. I also know I may need to play with different domes to get a compression that works good for long dune rides as opposed to 300' rips. I don't know which direction I'm going at the moment, if I have fun with it as a drag bike I may leave it as it sits. If it isn't seeing use I'll turn it into a duner. If that happens the lowered front shocks, rear marvin shaw, narrow axle, drag bars, and lack of front brakes will be the first things to go... Thanks for the help, may be calling you for a WCR...
  6. Awesome! Does anyone have a website or contact info for WCR? Thanks
  7. The new bike I just got has a full blown override right now. I LOVE the way you can mow through the gears with it but I'm not sure I'm going to keep this machine a full drag bike. Also, our drag racing hill has been known to be hard on overrides because of the whoops, etc. Who makes a good duneable override that you can really ride like normal? I've heard that the earlier ones were blowing up left and right, and that you needed to still treat them like a true override but they were just more "forgiving". If I make this bike a duner, I want something I can really dune ride. Not stop and go back to first every time I need to downshift. If I find a duneable override that will work for me I'll probably sell / trade this full override I have now as it's in perfect condition the way it sits. Thanks a lot Greg
  8. I would send my cylinders to Kevin if I lived in zimbabwe, and DEFINITELY if he was that close to me... He does great work.
  9. www.sudco.com Stock carbs suck donkey ballz. I would look for a set of Keihin 33PWK's or Mikuni 34mm TM flatslides. Would compliment your porting really nice and support a 4mil etc if you go bigger in the future...
  10. Well, you will need to run a spacer plate if your cylinders are already ported for a stock stroke. Running offset domes with no spacer plate would screw up the port timings and it would run, but who knows how well... Also do yourself a favor and let someone who knows banshees do your machine work. A lot of "local shops" do good work but there's more to it than hacking some material out of the domes. If you decide to go with offset domes and get a different set of cylinders ported for a 4mil, you will need to decide what kind of fuel you're going to run, what PSI you want, then measure your deck height with everything installed and give those measurements to your dome builder. Most builders can get you close without measuring the deck height, but it's a good idea. The size of the bowl in the dome, the squish (clearance btw dome and piston), and squish angle all affect what compression you will be at and ultimately how the bike will run. Local machine shops don't have a clue about stuff like that. Nitrous isn't going to cool your bike down either, that's a big misconception...
  11. No worries Jeff. No one I would trust more with it than bigred. It is a very well built bike, you and Kurt did a good job on it. If it runs in the sand as good as I think it will, and half as good as it looks, we've got a keeper.
  12. I don't have any trouble with the piped ones on my duner. Guess I haven't raced one that was hopped up with cams, high comp piston, big bore, etc. I've seen them run with hotcams, hi comp piston, and tuning and they are no joke!!! My bike wasn't ready to run then as a 4mil but I would have liked to line up with the guy. Would have had my work cut out for me on a stock swingarm! lol
  13. Porting is the biggest increase you can notice, it's crazy... Like when you go from stock to pipes, a coolhead, and timing advance, well double or tripple that feeling. Kevin does great work, highly recommended!
  14. Yep, that's kurt's machine. Traded him my King Quad 700 4x4 for it. He's gonna have a lot more fun on a machine like that where he lives. He can tow his boat down to the river to fish, hit up some mud, etc etc. ...and I'll probably have a tad of fun on the banshee out here in the sand
  15. lol n00b. No need to post the same thing over and over. You already have answers in your other thread.
  16. LOL I guess you will not be volunteering to go next time I'm headed back east??? Thanks for goin out, was not that bad of a trip other than the boringness and filthy humid bug ridden climate already mentioned. Here are some pics. The Beast Side Direct Drive Lockup Trusty Co Driver LOL ...and boring ass Kansas
  17. Cool man. Returned your PM
  18. What are you asking for them? I'm looking to trade my T-5's for a set if you're interested.
  19. What he said ^^ I got some stock shocks.
  20. I have one in good shape out of a low hrs engine. Was running perfect when I went to a 4mil setup. Shoot me a pm and we'll work something out on it. -Greg
  21. Tate, would be worth pulling your head and checking your domes for any signs of detonation. If there are no signs of detonation on the domes, and it doesnt try to back the domes out you will probably be fine on good old 91. It's one of those border line things where it's better to be safe than sorry for me, but every bike is different and the only way to tell is to run it see what happens. And yes that must be a typo, pretty sure he meant 270 jets... About right for our elevation, that's what I was running on my stock stroke with T-5's, etc...
  22. Your cub was doing more slipping than spinning when you were launching in 4th...
  23. I'm interested in trying a set of CPI's on my bike. If you want to try a set of T-5's mine are in great shape. Head pipes, stingers and aluminum silencers with mounts included. Would prefer chrome CPI's and I could throw in some cash but let me see what you got. Thanks, Greg
  24. Well I got a chance to really get some time in on this motor build and it's awesome!!! Kevin was very helpful through the whole process, he sold me only what I needed and made reccomendations for a few of the little things I had forgotten about. He made sure I had everything I needed but didn't try to sell me extra crap. His porting is second to none IMO. Bigred has his stuff ported by Gorr over in Europe and he was impressed with Kevin's work. Both how it looked and ran. I laid out the pain for the 450's, 700's, and of course 660's. Raced a Qzilla a few times and he would get me by about 1.5 lenghts but that was because of my launch. I REALLY need a longer swingarm and some more paddle for this much power... I finally got the hang of slipping the clutch a little and staying just on top of the pipe so I could come out of the hole. Course it wheelied in every gear 1-4th up the drag hill but I could ride it out after I hit 2nd. Bike ran strong all weekend. Beat on it hard drag racing, took it on 40+ mile round trip ride, started up everytime and ran strong. SUCH A BLAST. Couldn't have done it without Kevins expertise, fast turnaround, and most of all BIG RED'S willingness to help and share EVERYTHING he has with me. I think it has more of his spare little odds and ends parts than it does of my own LOL! To anyone considering Kevin's work, go for it!!! He knows what he is doing. I told him my riding style, weight, pipes, carbs, etc and he did a custom port job based on that and he was right on the money. He also did the domes for me, told him I wanted 150psi and that's what I got. 150psi EXACTLY, and at my elevation that wasn't an easy guess LOL. Just thought I would share. :-)
