  1. yep. unfortunately it is.. it has up and down play.. not in and out.. it is very loose and wobbly.. do you have a link to those upp basket cushions?
  2. yep.. more compression can ause detonation.. throw some more fuel at it, and keep an eye on those plugs.. are you at least using 93 octane fuel?
  3. i am hearing a loud rattle noise from the motor, its not coming from the topend or crank, but from the clutch cover.. i was getting metal shavings in the oil also.. i discovered that the shaft that the clutch basket rides on has a lot of end play.. you can wobble it up and down and it makes a clunking noise.. the bearing is definately loose... is this where my noise and metal shavings are coming from??? i have a hinson clutch basket also, and the cushions seem very loose also, with almost 1/4" play.. help me out here guys.. someone has surely ran into this before.
  4. there verdict is in!!! i did not find anything that looked worn, except, the clutch basket cushions have excessive play, and the tranny bearing (behind the clutch basket) is loose as hell!!! not the bushing in the basket,.. you can grab the clutch basket and wobble it up and down.. so there is a lot of end play on the tranny shaft.. so i guess its time to split the cases AGAIN.. i have a new set of bearings already, but need the hinson basket cushions.. u guys think this (bearing) is what is making all the noise and metal shavings??? need some input..
  5. well, with the limited use it has seen so far. i rode it on open gravel roads being very easy on it.. i only really backloaded it once.. that should not have filled the oil with metal shavings.. and with the noise it made from the start, there is something that I did wrong.. i will know here in a few minutes.. i am thinking that i left a washer out from behind the basket.. im switching over to synthetic oil after this .. maybe the synthetic will help cut down on the wear on the forks.
  6. hey thanks for chiming in dave.. from what i am seeing, it looks like maybe i left the rear washer out for the basket. cause the crank gear looks awful shiny!! lol.. i'll check back in a few.. im letting the oil finishing up draining so i took a break. lol
  7. well.. have you ever pushed your kickstarter down when your bike is already running?? that litle chatter clicking noise?? basically sounds like that, but a little louder.. i just drained the oil and coolant, from peeking through the lexan glass with a flashlight, it looks like the crank gear may be rubbing the clutchbasket.. maybe i forgot the washer behind the clutch basket??? i always double check things, but nobodys perfect.. i'll report back with some pictures of what i find.. dam. working on her again... lol
  8. hey guys.. today i noticed the oil in the tranny (through the glass of course) is dirty as shit.. and seems to have some mettalic shine to it.. is this from the new clutch breaking in?? what the hell?? i have only rode this bike for about 2 hours since i put it together.. i am also hearing a strange noise..i double check everything when i put an engine together.. maybe i should pull the clutch cover off to inspect.
  9. kool ok.. just figured a little better lubricant would help. i dont wana tear this motor back down for a couple years if ya know what i mean.. so im gonna just take it out and beat the shit out of it.
  10. this may be a dumb question. i do understand that the forks will wear eventually, but what if i used a full synthetic oil in the tranny?? it sure would cut down on shift fork wear, but on a side note would the synthetic oil make the clutch slip? i would think not considering i am using a lockout on the clutch.. i am really considering trying the synthetic oil.. if it makes it slip i'll just drain it out and put regular oil back in it..
  11. not exactly.. i have been told not to backload it over 8k rpm.. anything under is ok.. i was definately over 8k when i backloaded.. this little cub turns some serious rpm.. it runs hard, and the tune is real close, im gonna do a little more tuning with it, i know i can get a little more out of it, but it runs dam good the way it is. most importantly, i want to make sure i am on a good SAFE tune. i don't run my bikes terribly lean, i like them to have plenty of fuel, but still run hard.
  12. its a 392 cub, so it has plenty of power.. i may go with a 15-40 and a 22" tire.. and thanks for the help guys.. with a little gearing this thing will haul ass in a hurry.
  13. yea its badas shifting under WOT without the clutch.. you can bang the shit outta gears.. its like a car with an automatic with a shift kit, but better.. very fun ride.. i had people watching and thinking "WHAT THE FUCK DID HE DO TO THAT THING?" its definately a rocket.. just need to gear it up
  14. i am running a dunable overide, so 6th gear is history, what gearing are you guys using?? could i go with the older style stock hub to use a smaller rear sprocket?? whats the biggest fron sprocket i can use on the front (i have a case saver).. 1st gear is geared pretty low, and 5th not enough.. i think i currently have 14/42.. not too sure.. help a brotha out.. lol
  15. i have a dunable 1-5 n down tranny.. took it for a ride today.. WOW.. its a rocket now.. i was on the road and layed into it.. before i knew it i was already in 4th gear and it stood up on me.. i panic'd a little and let off of it.. i know i backloaded it because i felt the shifter push down.. hope i didn;t hurt it too bad.. it still shifts great.. any input?? im not going to ride it on blacktop any more really.. with just a +2 swinger on a cub, its dangerous on the road..
  16. WRIGLEYS.. just chew you up a shitload of it, spread it out on the cases, then slapem together.. give it 6 months to a year to harden up real good.. then you are ready to roll.. haha. J/K .. i use threebond 1211 also.. its good shit.
  17. yep, i love mine. it does come with mounting brackets.. i made my own though.. i like it for the engine temp. and everything else is a plus..
  18. kool.. i am more aimed toward using them for dirt drags, and playing around in the sand.. i really need a good tire for dirt drags really..
  19. mine has a little slap in it.. always did.. even when it was new.. just enough to notice..
  20. how well do they hook dave??
  21. yea.. i was thinking chrome would look great on just about any bike.. it will be a nice cover to win..
  22. ok guys, just went out in the garage, i DO have a clutch cover.. it is in perfect shape with NO brake lever rash at all.. it will be a perfect cover to PC.. so lets keep votin on the color..
  23. he is correct!! i bought my ole lady a banshee for x mas, she is a newb at riding, i put a 2 into 1 pipe on the bike to DETUNE it for her.. so her banshee is currently castrated for now.. when she gets better at riding i have some lrd's i'll throw on it.. only thing i like about the 2 into 1 pipe, is the sound.. hope that helps you.
