If nobody can help on the jetting, can someone give advice on the air screws?
-
The bike was running absolutely wonderful after the rings set in, and I had 2 tanks through it yesterday. But the pilots were a little high... Kevin recommended 50's and I had 52's in with 160 mains. The mains were close I think with those pilots. But here is the situation... many might be able to crack this puzzle right away. I put 48 pilots in, and now it is breaking up a bit in the higher rpm's, which it wasn't before. I believe that is a main probelm. Now remeber, I still have the 160 mains in after I made that swap from 52 to 48 pilots. I had my 160 mains and 48 pilotsin, and it was idling better and responding better on the throttle parked when I gave it gas. So I believe the pilots are on. That is good. But the main I believe is a little big. 155 mains with 52 pilots ran lean. But what about 155 mains with 48 pilots? When I did my test today, I ran it with the air screws 2 turns out. Where should my air screws be with my mods in my sig? Basically what do you guys think for mains, pilots and air screw turns? I think the pilots are good, and I also believe that the mains need to be down not to the 155 range, maybe a littel richer, but I don't know. Definately less than 160... And what about the air screws?

Alot of ups and downs with opinions on AVGAS. Some say do, some say don't. I personally wouldn't because it is the same price as CAM2, and I just don't like the science behind it. Why do it if you don't have to. It won't hurt as I saw guys run it for years and they still do, but I would just stay away IF YOU COULD. In terms of getting CAM2 or another alternative, look around. Some small motor shops/machine shops have it in barrels that they will sell. I get mine at a performace shop that doesn't advertise having it. You have to just ask. I bet you'll be shocked who has it. Just like Josh said, you pay for the name. It sure is pricey for sure. Good fuel, but pricey. CAM2 will get the job donje for sure. I am very pleased with it.

You'd be surprised with Sunoco's line of Race fuel. The CAM2 line actually. 110, 112 and 116. I run the 116, it is $48 per 5 gallons here. It is good stuff.

I was beating every 450 I came across before I did my mods. Yamahas were the tough ones... they tayed within a bike or two on flat surface or pavement. I had just bolt ons, trinity pipes, cool head, and THE 2 INTO 1!!! My bike before was tough to beat. In fact, every bike ate the dust pretty good except one YFZ. It is pipes, filter, quickshot, and cam. That was the only bike actually that stayed within a bike or two. I think it is different in a straight line, and then you guys are saying whoops and hills with bumps. The 450's have better suspension setups, etc. They should be a little better. But in a straight line, an official drag, I am taking a fine tuned bolt on banshee any day of the week over a bolt on 450. I have seen 20-30 450's try, and they all fail. But like I said... no whoops, no bumps, no hill races in the dunes... Just drag racing. The banshee I have now is a totally different animal obviously. Lots of work to it now... Maybe I'll see how they hang now lol I also believe the rider has alot to do with it, but still, I will stick to my guns... banshee wins in a straight line with bolt ons vs. bolt ons.

Well you guys can take a look at it tomorrow... as far as I can tell, it is running good and looks ok for now (the jetting) But I guess we will see tomorrow. It isn't missing or bogging, just not the perfect color on the plugs
-
You want the porceline there to be caramel/darker brown? I put 152's in and it was like that. No black and/or color on the threads or metal... just caramel/dark brown on the inside porceline. That was with new plugs.

WHta do you think??? 155 mains...

Finished up the bike this morning, and ran a few 10-15 minutes rides letting it cool down completely after each time. Just came back, snapped some pics... It runs like a bat out of hell now, compared to the 2 into 1 setup I had before. The dual 33 pwks, the intake, the pods, the hot hillshooter port by Kevin Herr, and the bore and hone .020 by Kevin, heavy duty Barnett clutch springs, 17cc domes instead of 20's, and +6 timing are all the mods I did. And I swapped my '01 blue plastics with a friend for these '03 blacks. I kept my warning plates off my blue ones though lol I also put the beadlocks on the front... I came to the conclusion I need to defiantely get a +2 or +4 swingarm as well. Before all the mods... And after a 3 week downperiod... man was it worth it. A special thanks go to Kevin Herr, jbooker and everyone who helkped me out through the process. I thank all of you!!!

Hey, thanks guys. I just got done with the first 3 10-15 minute rides/cool downs. It really rips, I can't even explain it!

Going to break in the motor this afternoon... how do you guys do your heat cycles? I plan on doing a few and then running a tank and a half through it easy.

Let me know ASAP... I will be running the fronts on the banshee on Saturday if I don't hear back from you. I will keep them as well if you don't get back to me. -

Hopefully those jets will be good, and if not spot on, I will head over the gap and see if they can hook me up with the right size. I want it to be good. And plus I'll have a few extra sizes to play with if I ever need to go up. The pilots should be ok from what everybody told me, hopefully those 155's will be good. What are the incriments in jet sizes? The mains should I say... every 1, 2, etc.? Like i55, 156, etc. Can I get 154's, 153's, etc. if I need to climb down a little?

OK, I believe I am going to keep the fronts and throw them on the 'shee unless someone wants them. So unless someone offers, then they are staying, and going on my bike tomorrow. But the rears are still available. If not, then I will put some vampire TSL's on those suckers and start sending them up coal hill! Here is a pic from this afternoon in the garage... -
I have 155, 158, 160, and 165 mains on hand. I have 48, 50, and 52 pilots on hand. Hopefully the 155 will be lean enough if that's the case Matt. Like I said, the carbs are on there, with the 160's in there. I'll fire her up, and do a couple short rides, and see how it looks. I am thinking they are too big too. I am just hoping the 155's will be enough, otherwise, I hope Gap has them because Paul doesn't have those jets in stock if I have to go any smaller. Any other replies would be greatly appreciated.

Got all the parts, basically have it all together, just need to put some engine ice in, and put one side of the exhaust and the plastics on. My mods will be: -HJR Hot Hillshooter port -.020 bore and hone by HJR -.020 Wiseco forged pistons -Noss Cool head with 17cc domes - +6 timing -Boyesson reeds -Boss Racing billet intake with crossover -Keihin 33mm PWK carbs -K&N pods with outerwears -Trinity Stage IV stainless exhaust and silencers I will be running Sunoco Maximal 116 leaded with 32:1 Klotz Super tech premix Kevin at HJR recommends 158 mains and 50 pilots with CEL needle on middle/3rd clip. I am just trying to get more advice maybe from someone closer to me. I am in the middle of Pa, it says our sea level is 1200 to 1400 feet. I currently have 160 mains and 52 pilots in. Will that be close?

How and where do you guys make your sigs with your name, pic in it and all that cool stuff?

Out of all the 450's... there are really 4 that you see all the time. The yamaha, the kawasaki, the honda and the suzuki. These are the ones priced to buy. Not like the ktm, etc. Out of those 4, I have seen time and time again the yamahas being top dog. Both stock and aftermarket. In terms of riding them, the suzukis are like a cadilac. The kawasakis have a rock hard seat. And the hondas are a good bike... But the yamahas are tough to beat... they really are.
