  1. Yea... I just had a REALLY, REALLY BAD day yesterday. Once I get it going, it's gone... kiss her goodbye. But the bottom/mid power has a bog. Is is hesitating before it hits the top. Once on the top, if you keep it revved out, it is a fun toy. She ran awesome today, besides the bog I speak of. That Honda didn't stand a chance. I mean I completely let off the throttle in the middle of 4th and lookked back and he was just out of sight by at least 7 bikes, maybe more. And that was a 450 with a rider on it that can ride it too. The bike had alot of work done to it, but just couldn't compete with this motor. Once I get this lag out of it, it will be good because I won't have to clutch it at the bottom of hills. Like I said, jetting is not the problen. I found the sweet spot. And it loves the needle on the 4th clip too. But I gotta get this bog on the bottom fixed so I can get her on video at Coal Hill or Mile Hill.
  2. When we built this motor, I wanted as much top end as possible. I am going to keep the +6 timing if I could... but if I must, I will drop it down. I like the power it has once you are on it. It is tough to beat once you have it ripping. It stays on it too.... doesn't fall off. Just the low end. I'll get it figured out.
  3. I just needed to get away from it. I slept good last night, woke up on the right side of the bed in a good mood. Had a positive outlook on it today. Got it jetted right in it's sweet spot, but it's not jetting. Those are the two things we will be checking next. If I can't get this to go on +6 timing on the bottom just a tad, I am going to have Butch "00tbanshee" look at it as all his buddies and himself are running Kevin's motors and +6 timing.
  4. What do you guys think about that? Could it be too much octane? 116 I was running mixed 36:1. PSI was 185. Could that be it? Or the timing too high? Although Kevin does say it is a common setup, but for what I need it for... I need some bottom end to get started on the hills around here. Without it I am bogging my ass backwards. So maybe +4 instead of +6?
  5. I got it running good today, put 50 pilotys in it with 155 mains. CEL on 4th clip, 1.5 turns out on screws. That is the sweetest spot I can find. But it still has the bottom end lag. Talked with Kevin, and another guy locally. I tested my compression today after I bought a tester at uto Zone. 184 PSI on left, 185 PSI on right. Both Kevin Herr and vthe local machine guy who knows banshees well both agree my 116 octane could be too high. Also, the +6 timing may be too much. The local machine shop guys thinks with that PSI in the cylinders, it could be burning that high octane too slow. I agree... That might be what is causing the mid/low bog. Fuel is burning too slow. NEXT STEP IN MY GAMEPLAN: burn all this good fuel as gast as I can. Only have 1/2 tank, maybe less left. Get some 112 and mix it with 93 pump to get 104ish. The put that in. Ifg nothing, bump the timing down a hair, maybe +4. One step at a time. That is where I am right now. Alot better mindset since I slept off such a bad day yesterday. :: I did manage to get it running pretty good, just still bad on the bottom end. But once she is going, she is ripping hard. Lined up with a honda 450r that had a high compression piston, cam filters pipe and 490 bore. Only needed 4 gears to have him by 7 bikes. The banshee runs, it does. Just that bottom end bog/lag it has. I am thinking the fuel is burning too slow with that compression. Both me and Kevin thought it was going to be higher with the 17cc domes and the +6 timing. But it's not, and I can get away with 103-105 octane. Today was much better... thanks everyone for your help. Furthur assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  6. The top end was fine. Once on it, it was rippin good. It was at 1/4 throttle where the problem was. I went down to 45 pilots and then it all hit the fan. The bike feels like it's ready to take a shit now.
  7. Straight 116. That's what was recommended. I am testing it ASAP as soon as I can get my hands on a threaded comp tester. Hopefully tomorrow. But I am currently working out some deals on some of the parts. If I can sell this bike I would rather just do that.
  8. Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help. Plugs are good, gas is fresh and mixed right. I run 116 Sunoco Maximal. I just got it the other day. I also have a clymers manual. I really appreciate the help. I just wish it can be figured out.
  9. Thanks for the positive thinking. I am just really frustrated right now. I have the patience of a saint, I really do. I just can't understand why it's not responding to jetting. And to be honest, I put my last remaining dollar that I had to put into it. I have to pay bills as all of us do and really can't afford to buy anything if it is another problem like a stator or something. That's why I am mad. It should be just jetting, but in my case, I don't think that it is. So I am upset because I can't fix it if it is something else. Riding is over for me for sure until next year.
  10. Nobody wants to tackle this
  11. :: :shoothead:
  12. Jack, the bike is going man. I had it. I took another day to try and do this and still won't run. I think anybody that put the time into trying to get this to run as I did in the last 9 days would be just as pissed.
  13. Can this problem be from reeds being bad?
  14. Well I tried everything once again, nothing. Went out with the air screws 2 and 2.5 turns with no results. So I get in the truck and head on over to the local race shop. Bought 45 pilots and 150 mains for $26. Put the pilots in, cleared it up a littel. Tried the air screws, nothing. Did all I can do...
  15. When the bike ran better with a 2 into 1 non ported/bored motor, not to mention timing advance, dual carbs and filters, new reeds and a fresh top end 30 over, I think anybody would be pretty damm frustrated with the machine. I spent so much time trying to jet this and I put several different sizes in it, had the air screws at several locations, etc. I am getting nowhere.
  16. Ok, well I came to 2 conclusions. 3 actually... Since I tried for a full week and a half, I can't seem to get it right. As much as I want to say the money was well spent into porting it, boring it and going to a nice dual carb setup, and advancing the timing, smaller domes, etc.... I really would like to say it was worth it but right now, I am a little disappointed. I am to the point right now that I am ready to sell this thing and watch someone else that knows what the hell they are doing rip shit up with it because they can jet the fucking machine. 1. I can take it to a shop around here, and hope they can get it right even though they tell me they have no rrom to run it to jet it right. 2. I can take it to another shop that I didn't try yet and get raped in price to jet it. 3. Sell it
  17. I just swapped out the 155 mains, and put 152 mains in. I also took the 50 pilots out and put 48 pilots in. Still have CEL on 4th clip. I made a few runs behind the house with it. No big change... I made a run with the air screws 1.5 turns out. No change. I made a run with air screws 1.75 turns out... no change. I didn't try 2 turns out, or any more than that. If it is safe to go beyond 2 turns, I will try that. I tried everything that I possibly can. I really miss my 2 into 1 carb non-ported/non-bored motor right now  I guess I can try 2 turns and 2.25 turns and 2.5 turns out on the air screws tomorrow.
  18. I seriously think this is a needle diameter problem. That guide says it to a T. "1/4 throttle bogging and hesitant to get on the power" means too rich of a needle/too thick of a diameter in the needle. I will try the 152 mains I just got and didn't try yet, but this seems like a bigger problem since my plugs are a dark caramel brown with 155's and it runs good in the higher rpm's.
  19. The main seems on, as the the plugs are a dark brown. And once on the power, it is really awesome running. Taking the CEL from the 3rd to the 4th clip took away the top end hesitation I had. It ran good today other than the 1/8-1/4 throttle hesitation to get on the power. Like I said, the 52 pilot acted the same way the 50 is doing. I have CGL needles in my jet container in the garage. But they are the same diameter as the CEL's. They will do the same thing probably.
  20. I have 155 mains and 50 pilots in. 52 pilots acted the same way. I have 48's too if I ever need them. But the above underlined bold statement from the keihin jetting guide is exactly my problem, wouldn't you agree Matt?
  21. The thing that really sucks is I have nobody to help me here. The shops around here say "I have nowhere to try it out" or "nowhere here can I ride it to help you jet it". And everybody else never went through this. I am really on my own and I have nowhere to turn here. I am pleased with the power ONCE YOU GET ON IT, but it is hesitating really bad in the lower throttle range getting to the power. But once there, it is good. I can clutch it to get it there, but it hesitates using the throttle to get to the power.
  22. Matt... I dropped the needle down... or in other words, raised the clip from the 3rd to the 4th slot. It cleared it just a little... nothing noticeable. It stays on the power now instead of dropping off in the higher rpms. It didn't do too much with the lower end problem I described above. Matt, do you think you can help me describe this problem to these guys on here? I tried describing this problem to the best of my ability here. You rode the bike...
  23. After reading the "Keihin Bible" of jetting, I came across the jetting problem I am having. I have a problem with my 1/4 throttle area. It is boggong and is lazy to get on the power/top end of the motor. It is hesitating so to speak to get on the powerband. So I read this and came across something that I thought to myself... "that is the problem right there!" Here it is... I copied and pasted it DIAMETER: The needle diameter controls the jetting just above the pilot jet, right as the engine begins to pull. On most engine combinations the needle diameter is felt in the
  24. I got 5 guys coming out, 4 banshees and a thumper
