I run cascade heat wraps as well with my cpi. I have white knuckle intakes and angled pods, but without the nasa wraps its a melted outerwear.

There you go, when you watch what is going on inside with both modified and unmodified components, it becomes pretty clear, that was the point i was trying to make to possum earlier. For anybody still not understanding i will give a hint. With a stock shaft when you move the shifter you are "asking" the bike to shift. With a modified shaft you are "demanding" that it shift. The modded star just makes the process feel smoother. And i will further agree with what has been posted as far as the external mods are worth doing even without the internal mods. If im not splitting the cases i still do the shaft and star mod and it certainly helps. However on all my personal bikes i cut the trans and do a few other tweaks. It just makes a world of difference and i feel its worth the time. Now of course having a properly adjusted clutch with good basket,hub and pressure plate is absolutely necessary as well.

completely agree with cam on this one, the shift star mod and the shaft mod really have nothing to do with each other. You need to look at how the system works and why the shaft mod is important.

The group i dune with has 6 or 7 high dollar long travel V8 sand cars. Several 6 figure builds. Guess what, the last 2 years they fucking sit in camp while everybody drives the shit out of the XP900s. Reliable and cheap compared to a sand car and when the whole group is in them, really just as fun if not more. The 20k price tag is of no concern when you are blowing up 10-20k sequential gear boxes and blown LS motors on the regular. It seems like every trip at least one of the rails has a catastrophic failure of some sort. I have no doubt that next month at least a few of the xp900s will have been replaced by the 1k models so hopefully i will get to put some seat time on a 1k. the 900s are fun as hell so im expecting the 1k will be badass. I have a feeling it will be my next toy

Yep i have an nv5600, and am getting ready to rebuild it. It took me months to find synchros. If you need any hard parts good luck. Prior to this i would have never purchased and auto but if i were buying today it would be an auto truck they have come a long long way.

Everybody has already said what needs to be said. I dont think the price is out of line for somebody that wants a really clean stocker that they will preserve. You could not restore one for that much money and at the end of the day it still would be restored not new. Hell those plastics alone in new shape are damn near priceless. Good luck finding a set in any kind of condition let alone like new. If you are going to modify it its a complete waste of money.
