I need help to help a friend. This weekend a buddy of mine has a built YFZ 450 w/ 480 kit and burns 112 octane and the local shop was out. We got smart  and mixed 110 and 114, 1/2 and 1/2 to make 112. Sounds good right , his rings siezed to the cylinder when we were lining up yesterday. The bike was perfect before we changed the gas, plugs, and cleaned the filter. Any suggestions or comments are aprecated. Thanks.

Do I need to replace both front and rear sprocket with a new chain? What is the stock Chain length (15F-41R)?

ABLA told me to buy a boost bottle too. :yelrotflmao: -
He was stock and you are modded out, you were suppose to spot him... If you spot him you lose! Victory(not in my eyes or by any drag standards)! What happens when he mods equal to you --you get WHOOPED and look stupid . -just my 2cents :shoothead:

I thought about that but I was just going to replace my chain and not sprockets because they look good so why replace?

Ok, here you go... Take a coat hanger and magnetize the end (just set a magnet on the tip for a few mins.) and put that in the case and you can bent it to any angle you need. Easy Fix, Been there done that...

1. Overrevving - Max out the motor -IE reach the point at where the connecting rod has went beyon the mechcanical capabilities. Like turning 9200 RPM with a motor designed to go 9000, it could strech the connecting rod, Split the crank and/ or the pistion can hit the top of the cylinder. 2. Did I say jet the motor or turn up the idle? STUPID! when you turn up the idle it's about perfect with that setup he has for bottom end power, when it gets lumpy because of the amount of fuel the carbs are adding it affects take off. It adds low to mid range where he wants the power. Plus some throttle responce. 3. Come to VA oh yea you can bring my new bike (was yours) :yelrotflmao: 4. Just for fun I'll add aboost bottle and can't loose - You don't want that... No serously if you see a boost bottle on my bike don't run it. You have been warned!

Buy some racing fuel.

Thats what my trail bike runs with 93 octane only and +3 on the timing advance; +5 gives me detionation so +3 is safe. The difference between the bikes is the porting job though. Compression testing will help out alot, my other bike has 185 compression -9 retard and a colder plug and runs like hell. And will smoke my trail bike any distance off pump gas. When I go to the track I advance the timing +10 and 115 octane (red gas) new plugs and can beat any body - oh It looks all stock. Tune and tune again is my advice.

CHANGE YOUR EXAUST TO T-5 for more power.

Ok, everybody knows everything; but I have 165 psi compression and a stock bottom end so BS on it comming apart. That comes from over-revving the bike. To fix your problem just turn up the idle on your carbs about 1/4 to 1/2 turn each. Turn it up after the bike has warmed up and lisen to the engine run it'll tell you what it wants. The Idle should get a little lumpy like you have a cam in it then hold on. I had the same problem after I ported my bike. Next I would change my oil to a full synthetic for winter and caster 927 (smells good) for summer if you want performance. What kind of filter are you running ?/ airbox? they all come to play. I wish you lived near me I would square you up. Any one that lives in or near Virginia knows me and the power the bikes I work on yeld. My bike looks all stock but will beat just about every one here. And thats after I spot them out. Performance is tuning and tuning again.

What happened to you? I'm now running AMSOIL Dominator (red). Are there any problems that I need to be aware of? I don't want to buy another motor.
-
Thanks for all of the input, but I just bought some "AMSOIL" and running that. It has a pretty good smell too...

Fellas I'm new to the winter riding game but I need to know of a good oil that won't breakdown because its now cold :: . I normally run Castor 927 and 93 pump but that breaks down at 25-27 degrees with 93oct and 35 with 110oct according to Castor rep. I need some thing for a banshee that is ported, polished, shaved stock head, jetted, T-5's, VF3's (lables removed), TOR's disable but still on the bike, K&N in the stock box w/ no seat lid, +4 advanced, and the bike looks 100% stock(thats how I get paid ). Thanks
