  4. HUH, I guess I'm not observant enough to pick up on any "pot shots" in this thread ... So far Kevin, Jeff, and Flotek have all been VERY helpful, ... and now that I feel comfortable with getting the porting done, I am VERY excited to get it back together and see how many lengths (I hope) that I can pull on the High comp pistoned & hot cammed 450's I bought my 'SHEE (used) Feb 8th 2007, so I think I had better get the parts sent somewhere this week for it's 3rd birthday THANKS ALL !!! ~DaVe
  5. Well I thought about doing a stroker (I have a 388 ci SBC, and working on a 496 BBC) BUT I just need to throw the Banshee together this time without splitting the cases ... $$$ is sorta a issue, so that is why the questions about porting. I just don't think I can leave that much power (from the porting) on the table, since I have the cylinders off ... ~DaVe
  6. Congrats on the BANSHEE purchase ... BUT "I" noticed the screen name .. are you running a 1992 Z28 ??? If so PICS ! ~DaVe
  7. Well it looks as if it is unanimous, get the porting done ... Now the age old battle of Jeff or Kevin ... Thanks everyone !!! ~DaVe
  8. So from your site: Dune/Hillshoot $300.00 + Full rebuild $295.00 = 595.00 + The cool head / domes (keeping them seperate as they are BOLT ons) ... Correct ? ~DaVe
  9. Hello, after WAY TOO MANY hours on a stock cylinder 1999 Banshee, it finally "burned down" and needs a rebuild ... The non cosmetic mods were: Pro-Tec boost bottle (going to eliminate that) Toomey's T-5 pipes, and Cascade billet exhaust clamps K&N POD filters w/ outerwear's K&T performance: Milled head (don't know how much?), Lightened flywheel, and +4 timing plus 2" rear swing arm w/ braided rear brake line Boysen power reeds W/ spacers CASCADE Clutch Disengagement Adjuster CASCADE Modified Shift segment Pro Design Billet water pump Impeller I had no problems running with my friends 450's and Raptor 700's up the hills ... But now some of them have gone to Hi-comp pistons and Hot cams ... So my plans are: NOSS cool head with 19 or 20 CC domes (I ride at St A. ID and Little S. UT both ~5000 ft) The stock head got a lot of "damage" from the rings being slammed into it So now do I have F.A.S.T or Herr Jugs do a DUNE port job on it along with the bore (I think .010 will clean it) and Wiseco pistons / rings / etc. ??? -OR- just have it bored locally, throw some pistons in it and hope it is as fast as it once was .... I'm worried about having only a "light switch" top end, I do only ride the dunes, but the quad always seemed to have excellent mid/low end performance. Also I can't imagine how, but will porting effect reliability ? I rode 2 years with less problems than some of my 4 stroke friends with NEW quads !!! (I do routine maintenance religiously) Any thoughts appreciated !!! THANKS ~DaVe

  18. You will outrun them EASY !!! My '99 Banshee with just MINOR mods (T5's, milled head for elevation, Boysen's, K&N's, gearing) ... Would outrun my buddies Raptor 700 easily, and also the LT450R's ... I was only about 1 bike length behind a LT450R with high comp pistons and hot cams (pipes and K&N's also) Then FINALLY after HOURS and HOURS of ridding time it finally needs a top end rebuild, it was slowing down Then a piston decided to have a hole in it ... ~DaVe
  19. +1 to that Here is the list I'm working on : Wiesco piston kit (part# PK140 in my case) COMES WITH some of the gaskets Exhaust O rings (may be in the Wiseco kit) Intake gaskets (also may be in the kit but I need 6 total since I run spacers) and of course (optional) NOSS cool head with domes and O-rings :) ~DaVe

  23. +6 length swing arm FOR SALE, black powder coated, GREAT condition (only a few rubs / scuffs on the powder coating) only used at the dunes / in the sand $160 SHIPPED to the lower 48 (O.B.O.) I can included an extended braided brake line for an extra $15, the plastic shielding on the line does have some scuffs, etc. but it is still 100% function, and does not leak. ~DaVe
