Hot Rods connecting rod
Stellar Performance replied to 2strokesmoker's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I hate to burst your bubble greg. But the amount of force it takes to move something is determined by the amount of resistance it has. So by you stating that the resistance is the same, then the force must be the same. There is a hole in your comparison to the weight on a broom stick over a scale. The piston is limited to only a vertical stroke, staying in a straight line, not being able to shift left or right. The crank shaft can only rotate, not move vertical or horizontal. The rod is strictly being used to connect those two items (all of these things we know). But where your comparison fails is that all of the components you used (weight, broomstick, scale, etc) would have to be setup in a matching enviroment. In other words, the scale would have to be mounted in a fixed position like the crank (not be able to move verticle or horizontal). The broomstick would have to be fixed to the scale like a rod(not being able to slide around freely). And the weigh would have to be fixed to the broomstick (not being able to tilt freely). And if you were able to rig up all of those items as stated. Well I think we all agree that 100 pounds whether it is directly over the scale, or offest by a foot, is still going to weigh 100 pounds. Greg....do not read this and think I am trying to be an ass. Its not meant to call anyone out or say this person or that person is right or wrong. I do think that some times these threads can get interesting. And arguments some times lead to better knowledge for everyone to read. But lets get real. Not one of us graduated MIT with a masters in physics (that I am aware of...lol). Not one of us is going to spend the time and money to do the proper testing to prove their "theory" right or wrong. And in this application because of it being a rotating load at 358 out of 360 degrees of movement, all of our statements of what it true or what is false simply are "THEORY". I dont understand why everyone is being so hard headed on this anyways...lol. It seems that we all agree on everything except the bearing life being extended. My stand on that stays the same in regards to the most amount of resistance on the bearings, rod, piston, etc is during the compression stroke at TDC when the rod is perpendicular to the crank and piston anyways. So rod length would not change that at all, only combustion area (cc's) would. Now let's get some beers and go racing  -

:yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: Im not one to take sides at all. Ive stated than on many arguments before. But in the end, the same ammount of force is being applied to the bearings. Just because the rod is at a different angle, the load on the "bearings" will stay the same. I see where greg is trying to go with this, but realistically in the end, the highest amount of force applied is when the stroke is at TDC on the compression stroke (depending on how the timing is set). No matter what, that is when the most amount of force/energy is going to be transfered from the piston to the pin to the needles bearings to the rod thourgh another needle bearing and onto the crank......period. And by changing the rod length, thus BARELY changing the rod angle, the presure applied to the bearings throughout the rest of the stroke is only going to change at what degree it is appplied to the bearings. We all agree that the longer rod will help improve piston life by giving less side load to the skirt of the piston. And I hope we all agree that you should have longer rod life due to it being more perpendicular on the compression stroke. Now stop argueing ya bunch of know it alls  -

I decided to sell me 4mil cub. Everything was basically new when built. Not a bunch of used parts thrown together. It has seen one trip to glamis and one trip to Dumont, thats it. It runs very hard. Was setup on alky for my stock chassis drag bike. I am asking 3000.00 shipped with all the billet and the complete PVL ignition. If you dont want certain parts, we can discuss the price. I was running this with 38mm mikuni's (alky) along with big bore shearer pipes. Here's a list of the build......please dont ask about parting it, I really dont want to. RDZ Drag ported 68mm 4mil Cub 4mil 115 rod hot rods crank w/TZ bearing on output side Ported Cases (top case polished) Noss billet head w/ 19cc domes w-c-r 1-5ndown override tranny Hinson billet basket Hinson Billet pressure plate Grand River Racing Lock-up and Cover Needle bearing clutch pusher PVL ignition (set at .085 btdc) Vforce 2 reeds Billet intakes (38-41mm) Billet water impellar Billet E-Z Drain cover Billet water pump cover Billet Shifter Billet Dip Stick

Alright guys. I hate to do this, but they need to go. These are a brnad new set of -2+3.5 drag arms for the Honda 450R. I built them for a client almost 2 months ago whom I cannot get in touch with. They were never paid for, so its time to move them. They are made from 4130 Chromoly, fully tig welded and Include aluminum Tie rods, heim style tie rod ends and heim style ball joints. They also include the delron bushings (60.00 a set), so you do not have to use your stock hardware. This is also nice because it eliminates the heavier metal bushings and bearing in the stock arms. These retail for 420.00 for the set plus 60.00 for the bushings, but I will let them go for 400.00 shipped. Chroming is available for an additional 160.00. Thanks guys, let me know!!!!

whats going on in the dunes.hardly anyone there
Stellar Performance replied to bada450r's topic in Sand Forum
I hear ya brother. Presidents day in Glamis was pretty weak compared to previous years. And I think the economy has began to takes it toll in our sport as well. Dont get me wrong. There were still a lot of people there with expensive toys. But nothing like we've seen in the past. I know a lot of us have this disease where we spend way too much of our money on our toys. Even when times are tough, we some how manage to find ways to buy new parts. The last thing I really need to do is build a new bike right now, but I am! Thats just how it goes. And I also agree that it would be nice to see more builders taking the time out to be able to make the big weekends and show us who the current top dogs are. I would love to see some of the respectable builders from this site "M&M, HJR, F.A.S.T., etc" show up and see how there builds do against the builders that are referred to as "The best in the business" by other sites. And by other sites, I'm sure you all know which one I am talking about. LETS KEEP OUR SPORT ALIVE AND GROWING -
Now for all of you guys having unprotected sex........always remember this post. Because this is what happens when you get your woman pregnant :shoothead:

And $3500.00 is a smoking price on a new lonestar chassis. Not too many people can go and get one ordered for that price. You are just in bed with Jon.......lol. Or you cook him some damn good Carne Asada  -

A&S, RDZ vs. RB racing
Stellar Performance replied to 87sheerips's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thanks Jeff. Its pretty crazy how many little changes I have made even since November/December when I built those parts for JD. I am always trying to make my products better. I'm sure you guys do the same. I saw the changes you guys made to JT's frame.....it looks great. It now looks like a respectable chassis. I was pretty sceptical of it before you guys got to it. Nice work  -
A&S, RDZ vs. RB racing
Stellar Performance replied to 87sheerips's topic in General Banshee Discussion
There is only one answer for this JD. ITS THE CHASSIS AND SUSPENSIONS COMPONENTS J/K......Its a great feeling being the underdog and winning races. The same thing happened to us at Dumont. There was a bike from Inland ATV that was a 14mil big block twister. (close to 700cc). Absolutely gorgeous bike, ful lonestar drag chassis, the works. We could tell it was running extremely rich and wasnt putting out anywhere near what a bike of this caliber should. In the end, I ended up beating him and other big bikes with one of my customers bikes. A full stellar hillshooter chassis with a McCoy 4mil super cub (472cc). But like Cajun said.....it comes down to setup and getting it dialed in. Some people bolt the bike together, get it running good and never play with things like gearing, different paddles, air pressure or fine tuning. But I am also a firm believer that there are quite a few less known builders out there that can build just as good as a motor as the big boys that just havent gotten any recognition yet. It takes building a good client base and also start competing in bigger events like Planet Sand top really start getting that kind of reputation. -
