Whats the name of this song?
silencethevoice replied to Rebel3190's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Damn. I even listen to a lotta metal and that one's got me stumped... I'm curious as to what the answer is. As for country, I pretty much only listen to Johnny Cash or Hank III.. Most of that stuff is wayyy too pop for me.. -
Just wondering if you guys think it's worth breaking my cases apart to weld my crank, or should I check the tolerances and go from there? Need some opinions.. I will list my mods below.. 21cc Domes (170 psi compression) Stock Bore +.020 Eric Gorr Porting FMF Fatties V-Force 3 Reeds +4 Timing Lightened Flywheel Dual 33 PWKs Thanks in advance.

dajogejr is a stand up guy who knows his shit... he probably spends more time helping people around here than anyone.. there have already been dyno tests shown to prove the boost bottle does nothing... except for crack intake boots.

Needle Stuck, losing my mind
silencethevoice replied to fox_forma's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Man, that shit sucks! I just got done dealing with the same thing on my dual 33s! I did the same damn thing... All I can say is, be very careful not to damage the needle itself when trying to get the cable holder out of there.. I bent the hell out of mine, and ended up having to by a replacement slide, needle, and cable holder from sudco.. Set me back like 100 bucks! .. If you can, the best bet to get it out of there, is 1 of two things... Drill a hole down the center of the thing, and use a screw extractor to get a bite on it.. Or, cut a slot down the center with a dremel or a very small hacksaw blade by hand, and try to use a flat screwdriver to remove it... Make sure to to tape up the edges of the slide so as not to damage it when using a saw, and be careful of bending that needle... Good luck! -
Not sure if you already heard from them.... But sudco should know if there's any difference .. Number is 323-728-5407

A 4 mil stroker against a raptor? Hah! You will tear him a new one.. Not even the same level.

My Jetting From FMF to TOOMEY T5
silencethevoice replied to Infamous039's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I've got Fatty's right now, and was curious, what kind of performance diff there is with the T-5s? Are they more of a top end pipe? What do you think of them so far? -
Went to Alba just recently to get my machine work done... Figured these guys knew their shit, so I asked for some advice on dome size / timing etc for pump gas... After talking with three guys that supposedly "knew banshees" and having them measure my exhaust port height, we finally decided I should go with 21cc domes and no timing advance.. Sounds good, so I get my cylinders back (look pretty nice) and install them. After busting out the compression gauge, I end up with 172psi per side ? Very nice, but not exactly pump gas material! So I call them up and talk to two different guys, one guy is supposedly their "banshee expert".. They both tell me to go ahead and run it that way, that it'll be totally fine on pump gas... WTF? Now, I would never claim to be an expert, but I knew that wasn't right... I just can't believe they would try to tell me it was "fine" and just to go ahead and run it that way.. The shit would have detonated! just goes to show, once again, you can't trust the stealership...

Word to that... Those plastics should be illegal.

I think I tracked down my problem
silencethevoice replied to fox_forma's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Not sure if you already posted somewhere else or tried this, but just in case.. You did remove the TORS / Emergency brake circuits, right? Those mother$%#ers have gotten me a few times ... -
Am I safe with this race gas?
silencethevoice replied to silencethevoice's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That's what I plan on doing.. After all the money and time I've put into this, I'd much rather be on the safe side of things.. Thanks for all the input! -
With a decent set of pipes, jetting and filter I don't see why you can't at least smoke the 660 and the 650.. In my experience those things are slow as shit.. The 450s on the other hand, it may be up to your riding skills.. It also depends on if you're talking yamaha or honda (there's a big difference.. ) ... In my experience your biggest challenge is the yfz450s.. When I would drag with them, I would usually get beat by at least a bike length or two every time.. I wouldn't spend money on mods just to be able to beat your buddies at dragging.. Chances are you will still get beat once and a while and then it makes the money you spent hurt even more.. Just try to have fun and enjoy the new power your ride has.. My .02.

Thanks for the info... I ended up getting a set of 33s.. Really stoked on the performance so far, and it didn't seem that hard at all to tune.. Had to spend a few bucks for a unisyn and a bunch of jets.. But after a day of experimenting it was well worth it..

I hear that.. I usually wait until I'm in the dunes to practice .. I agree that 4 strokers are a hell of a lot easier.. Banshee's gotta be one of the hardest bikes I've ever tried to hold up..

what are the chances of a crank failing on

Dang. Guess I'm gamblin' a bit.. Thanks for the info! -
what are the chances of a crank failing on
silencethevoice replied to 98 shee mx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What usually occurs when a crank decides to give? Does it just spin a bearing and mind it it's own business, or does it do worse, like throw a rod? -
Am I safe with this race gas?
silencethevoice replied to silencethevoice's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I am running 1 bore over standard at .012 end gap, with .036-.042 squish and 21cc domes. I have two compression testers, one that is a hand me down old snap on tester, and it reads at 180-185 per side. But I went down and bought a brand new Actron guage as a second opinion, and it reads at 172... So either way I am guessing I would still be above the 160 mark.. Most people seem to think the actron's are fairly accurate.. I was also thinking that maybe the cylinders I bought were milled at the bottom to change port timing. I bought them used and they had the Eric Gorr Mo' Power port on them, and doing some searching, I heard of some people getting that done with Eric's cylinders.. What do you guys think? -
New Banshee, first jetting attempt
silencethevoice replied to Champ's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I would save up the cash and get all those mods done at one time. That way you'll only have to re-jet it once. Pretty much all of those mods are going to cause you to have to re-jet. Your bike will wake up the most with pipes. I have no experience with the gnarly pipes, but I have fatties and like them a lot. I don't know what your jetting should be at that altitude, but you should do the plug chop along with other tests just to make sure. All of this is searchable info... A little search goes a long way. -
Did you check your end gap on your rings? Too much gap and you could be losing some compression.. did you get your cylinders bored/honed at the same time and was it done at a reputable shop? Also, you are sure you're getting a good seal to the head with your tester, right? The tester doesn't drop after a few seconds does it? Some stuff to try.. Good luck...

Other than making it look new  what does spraying it with aluminum spray paint do? Are you talking about that high temp gasket maker spray stuff?

Am I safe with this race gas?
silencethevoice replied to silencethevoice's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Just thought I would make sure... How much compression/timing would you be running to need a 110,112 or 118 octane gas? or is that just a matter of preference? -
You should post in the wanted section... I just went through replacing the same thing, and after posting there I got a response within a few hours... Good luck.

Whatsup guys... I blew up my last engine build running on 91 octane, and this time I don't want to make the same mistake.. I have 172psi compression and am running +4 timing. The bike is run only at sea level.. I am running 32:1 Super M with VP C12 right now (108 octane) and was wondering if I am safe with this gas. It's just that I don't really trust my ears enough to actually hear detonation or pinging, the last build pretty much went without me even knowing there was a problem.. Thanks in advance to everyone, this forum is so awesome..

Do you guys ever see yourselves getting burnt a little in the whoops, though? Like at olds for example, the whoops seem to really toss me if I'm on the throttle... Wasn't a problem before I started putting some engine mods together, but now that I have more juice.. and I do have stock suspension. Could be I just don't know how to ride, this is only my second season riding my shee..

I lost to a 450R...I can't believe it.
silencethevoice replied to trashedbanshee's topic in Drag Forum
Yeah, I'm always just a bike length or two behind my buddies YFZ450... We'll see what happens when I get my new set of mods all installed.. But, I know when I drag at Olds now, my biggest weakness is the whoops. Those fuckers have gotten so big in recent days, the stock banshee suspension just doesn't cut it against raptors and 450s.. Oh well, I guess that's just one more thing to throw money at..
