  1. Yah I've got the Gorr Everywhere port on my jugs... I will definitely do a leakdown test before running this time. Gonna go to the hardware store on the way home from work today and see what I can dig up... The guys at Alba seemed to think I was really just overdoing it on pump gas... But they didn't rule out the possibility of an air leak.. They said 20cc domes, and +4 timing would probably be too much.. They even measured my exhaust port height to make sure.. So I am going with stock timing and 21cc domes this time around.. But I'm definitely testing it... Just hope I can get 'er all finished before the weekend. Glamis on Halloween is pretty crazy.
  2. I am located in California, so I think I might need to find someone at least within driving range of here... As far as what I am looking for, I am looking for something that has had some engine work done, bare minimum of pipes, reeds, and some porting. Also, would like to find one with a set of aftermarket shocks.. Something that would be comparable price wise. I will see if I can upload some pics later tonight
  3. I have a very clean 2004 YFZ450 that I am looking to possibly trade for a warmed over banshee. It's got a GYTR exhaust, Vortec Air Filter, ASV Levers, TAG X5 Bars. I have the stock rims with knobbies, and also a set of sand tires: Front mohawks with douglas rims, and ITP sand stars rear. Bike is super clean, runs great, and hauls some serious ass. Never ridden hard, I've just decided a banshee would be better for me.. Anyone interested?
  4. Wish I could have done a leakdown before tearing it apart.. There were two quarter size holes in my pistons, so that really wasn't an option! Mine ran pretty well before it went also, really strong on the bottom and mid, I could pretty much just blip the throttle in 3rd and 4th and pull the tires off the ground. But I really missed the standard banshee mid-top pipe hit. I am sure some really like it that way, but it was too smooth for me. I like the way the powerband used to surge in all at once.. Just preference I guess. The bike is getting bored at alba right now, and I am going to try a pair of 33pwks instead this time.. Hopefully all goes well. I am pretty damn sure there were no air leaks, but then again.. Can someone explain to me how a crank seal going bad can cause an air leak? The only crank seals that I know of are on the ends, in which case how would I get an air leak? Would the piston start sucking air through the clutch compartment (if I had an air leak on the stator side, I am sure I would know about it!)... Can anyone enlighten me?
  5. I know I just asked about some stockers... But I have now had the opportunity to get some dual 33s instead! What would you guys recommend? Bored .020 over, FMF Fatties, V-Force 3 Reeds, Eric Gorr Mo' Power Everywhere Port, 21cc Domes, K&N Pod filters, Stock Timing, Stock Ignition, Lightened Flywheel. Bike is pretty much a duner only... I run out at glamis (sea level).. Thanks again for the expert guidance!
  6. Yeah, I can't wait to see what this thing is like once I get it dialed in. I just got back from glamis, and was running a 2 into 1 38 setup, and blew holes in the tops of my pistons.. The bike ran pretty damn good while it lasted (I was running too much timing/compression for pump gas..) But, I was still kinda feeling like it was lacking something, so am going to go ahead and try the stockers after this rebuild. The guys out here at Alba (they're doing the machine work) set me up with a 310 main and a 32.5 pilot.. I guess it doesn't seem to far off, and I'll be sure to do a plug chop as soon as it's up and running to make sure I'm not too lean... Thanks for the advice..
  7. Still got it. PM me for details and I can send pics.
  8. Looking for a good YFZ450 steering stem, preferably with clamps, but let me know what you got..
  9. I am pretty sure I wasn't running with an air leak.. I put sealer on the base gaskets.. I did the old WD-40 spraydown around the reeds and the bottom of the cylinders to make sure there was nothing going on... I started out with a 210 when I got to glamis, then bought a 215 and a 220 to see if it would run better on top, and it did.. Maybe it was because of the compression I was running on pump gas.. Who knows.. How does one go about testing the crank seal?
  10. Looking for some recommendations for jetting on stock carbs.. Standard bore, Eric Gorr Mo' Power Everywhere Port/polish, FMF Fatties, VForce 3 Reeds, Cool Head with 22cc Domes, Stock Airbox with proflow adapter (no lid)... I am a riding at close to sea level (glamis), this bike rarely leaves the dunes. Thanks in advance..
  11. Yeah, that was definitely a bad idea to not do a compression test.. I guess I figured I would hear it pinging before something happened, and then know then that my octane was off.. That was lame. As for my pilot, I tried running a 48, 50, and a 58 in there, and they all seemed way too rich.. But as soon as I stepped down to the 42, throttle response got really nice and crisp... Oh well, put that setup on ebay I guess, and take a loss.. But anyways, if I want to run pump gas, what kind of domes should I be using? you say you are running 50/50 with 22 domes? You can't run straight pump gas with your 22s? or do you just like to run race gas... Are you ported at all? Also, I have a single 33pwk already, would it be worth it for me to buy another 33 and run dual 33s? Or would you recommend 35/34s? Thanks for the quick response.. Ryan
  12. Well, I just took my bike to glamis to try out a new set of mods/top end, and things didn't go so well.. I melted holes in the top of my pistons :shoothead:.. I am running stock bore cylinders, with Eric Gorr Mo' Power Everywhere porting, Cool Head with 20cc domes, +4 Timing Advance, V-force 3 Reeds, FMF fattie pipes, and a Trinity 2 into 1 setup with a 38mm pwk. I thought I had my jetting dialed in pretty well before I left (I live in San Diego), I was running a 42 pilot, 220 main, and the clip on the 5th from the top. I was running this on setup on 92 octane pump gas at 32:1. The bike seemed to run pretty well for me, no pinging or anything out of the ordinary. I let my brother ride it to the drags, and on the way back he was complaining about it feeling like it was running only on one cylinder, right before it died. So, where should I go from here? Does it seem like I was running my pilot lean, and this caused it to burn up, or did I just over do it on pump gas? I am seriously considering going back to duals at this point, because although it did run pretty well, it still seemed like it was capped off a bit. This bike will spend 90% of its time in the dunes, and hill shooting.. Just looking for any opinions on the situation. Thanks in advance. Ryan
  13. Looking for a 2 into 1 with a 38 Keihin, or a set of dual 30/33s... Thanks, Ryan
  14. Good condition, with extra jets, stock throttle cable, and airbox adapter.. $300 shipped
  15. Thanks guys! Just thought I'd check.. Gotta love the HQ..
  16. Hello all.. I'm in the midst of installing a Trinity 2 to 1 and a set of V-force reeds.. The trinity intake has o-ring seals, but the v-force comes with a set of gaskets to use... Which should I use, or should I use both ? What are you guys runnin'? Just tryin' to avoid any problems down the line.. Thanks in advance, Ryan
  17. thanks to all that responded.. but I found a set.. Ryan
  18. Looking for a set of cylinders that are in good shape (i.e. ready to bolt on if poss.).. Bored over is fine, mild porting would be a plus.. Anyone got some? Thanks. Ryan
  19. Hello, I am in need of a new Primary Drive Gear and crank end gear.. Got a loose screw in there, and ended up chipping a few teeth.. Anyone have a decent set laying around?
  20. Damn! I already got the one with the airbox adapter.. (just spent 100 bucks on the K&N kit..) Guess I will have to make do! Thanks for the help guys, I'll let you know how it goes!
  21. Thanks for the quick reply! But as it turns out I ended up going with the 33mm instead.. Would you recommend the same jetting for that also?
  22. Hello. I am looking to get one of these 2 into 1 kits, and was wondering if you guys could advise me of a good starting point for jetting one of these? My bike is almost stock, I've got an adjustable timing plate set at +4, V-Force 3 Reeds, FMF pipes/silencers, and a K&N w/open air box. I do most my riding in Glamis (close to sea level)... Just looking for a good starting point to work from on this thing... At 8 bucks a jet (carbparts.com) it could be pricey if I was just shooting in the dark! anyone have a cheaper source for these jets? Any help is appreciated.. Edit: I ended up getting the 33PWK instead...
