Im doing a complete engine rebuild right now and this is what i suggest doing... -buy complete engine seal kit -complete engine gasket kit -top end kit of your choice, .20 over is good. -check and make sure the crank is good, - clymers manual (first thing you should get) -yamabond 4 (not 5) - clutch kit (comes with plates and all that stuff) If your shee is rather new which it seams like since your at std. bore, you probably dont even need to split the cases and you can just do a top end rebuild. You also probably dont need a new clutch basket, just the plates. You should get a new clutch cable too if your going to do the clutch, and take off the parking brake while your at it. You can get a clutch basket, and all that other stuff at www.magicracing.com, its a local store by me and they have everything basically, i got a billet clutch basket for 150, as compared to the hinson one which is like 200ish.
  2. I would go with stock pistons or any piston that is manufactured over seas. Apparantly over seas they can use more chemical or additive or whatever they use when forging pistons(cant think of what its called, some scientific name), but they can use more over there then here legally. The item im talking of gives pistons more heat tolerance and cause them to not swell when they get hot. Pistons made here dont have as much of this so when you buy them they will fit a little loose cuz they swell much more then pistons made overseas. But overseas pistons will fit real nice and tight. They wont give you anymore horsepower as most other aftermarket pistons will but I think there more reliable. Just my 2 cents. I learned this after I bought a Vito's super stock piston kit, which im happy with, but from what ive heard wasnt the best choice.

  6. Was wondering whats the best way to wash the cases and gears and all that good stuff before I put it back together. Also i was looking at another post that had detailed pics of splitting the cases. it showed pics of the pistons and said that they should look like that. Mine are almost fully covered in blackness. The top end has only about 4 hrs on it at the most. Could this just be from the wrong jetting? What would be a good start for jetting on my bike. .40 over vitos super stock pistons, pro circuit pipes, +4 timing advance, k&n pods, boysen reeds, reed spacers, boost bottle, jet kit. I have 27.5 pilot, and I think 330 main jet. at sea level. (its been awhile, rebuilt the whole bike, 3 yr project) And last but not least. I plan on milling the head, how far should I go, how can I tell if mine has been milled already(used bike), How much compression till I have to run race fuel. I normally run the bike on 93 octane 32:1 castor oil, and would like to keep it at that for convience. Thanks for the help in advanced!   7. I was just wondering how the hell do you get the clutch basket off the drive gear thats behind the clutch basket. I have the whole gear and basket off and tried a few things but nothings working. Need some direction on how to get these things apart. Thanks.
  8. I have a 95 shee, top end was just redone about 3 hrs ago. Clutch pushrod recently welded itself in the main gear. Now for the questions... - Should I have the crank welded and trued and new bearings and all that, or buy a new crank thats already done up. - Is there an aftermarket part that will stop the welding of the clutch pushrod to the clutch release lever and all that jazz. - Would a cool head, with domes for race gas make much of a difference. - What would a stroker crank do for me? I have pro circuit pipes, polished intake, not ported,( I polished it when i redid the top end, dont know if it helped but made me feel better) Vitos super stock pistons bored 40 over, K&N clamp ons, reed spacers, boost bottle. Any pointers would be helpful as to what I should do when putting it back together as well. Im new to this so please help! Thank you very much.
