  1. is there any advantage to vitos or toomey needles over stock or should I just get stock needles????
  2. cool, Ill geterdone tonight. Thanks!!
  3. I just got my parking break block off am I gunna leak fluid when I take the parking break off. should I consult my clymer to do this operation?????
  4. give ya a little idea of the reliability of the new 4 stroke... My friends 90 day warranty just expired and his crank bearings went and hes looking at an $800 bill for the repair. this dosn't mean all of them are not relaible Im just talking about the one I have expereince with. his reason for not getting a banshee when he bought it was that those unreliable 2 strokes blow up all the time. My 01 banshee is still running strong...
  5. idk, I think the 450 motor is very strong and produces good power Im not going to get guttsey enough to say its slow thats for sure I rode one and its not slow. However the 90 day warranty is up on the one that I rode that belongs to a friend of mine and the crank bearings went and his motor is out and at the local dealer. they quoted him around $800. good thing he didn't get one of those "unreliable 2 strokes" since they blow up all the time.
  6. I dropped one of my slides straight down on the cement and bent one of my needles. I bent it back but it was still a bitch to get back into the carb will this be ok or should I get some new needles???? If I get new needles there is no sence and getting stock ones since they are like $20 each but what kind should I get... vitos, toomey, ??? Thanks!!
  7. sorry I wrote my last post wrong. what I did was bump the main to a 300 and lowered the needle to effectively lein the needle one clip postion and richen the main hopeing that this will dial it in a little better. I thought with my needle as rich as it goes this couldnt be right I had port work and other mods on my other shee and didnt have my needl as right as it went. However I had toomey needles in that shee Idk if that makes that much of a difference or not. I cant ride it right now cause Iv got my baby with me and my gf is at work but Ill try it later. also I dropped one of my slides and bent the needle I bent it back but I still had a hell of a time getting it back in should I get new needles or will this be ok??? thanks guys!!
  8. I had 290 mains with the needle as far up as it goes but Im in the process of bumping up to a 300 main and raising the needle one clip position to see what the does.
  9. Mine dosnt have anything on those taps. I went riding last night and I lost the mounting bolts on both the silencers and didnt know it till one fell off I had to put it on and rid slow so they wouldn't fall off again. damn!!
  10. cool thanks for the pics...
  11. I have ridden a yfz 450 several times my buddy has one and it is a fast quad but My banshee felt faster. I was also more comfortable on the shee. The 450 is fast but the banshee just felt much faster. and much better for my style of riding and I think anyone who has ridden banshees for a while shares my riding style. It might be as close to my ridng style as a 4 stroke can get. idk
  12. I see the "banshee vs yfz vs raptor" question all the time and I just was in the family library (shitter) looking through dirt wheels and I wanted to post a quote from the may issue where they pitted the banshee against the raptor against the yfz 450 " A good banshee pilot, who knows how to work the six-speed manual shift gearbox (the raptor 660 and yfz450 use five speed, manual clutch transmissions), will still have a slight edge over the yfz450 in the sand. However, when it comes to modified motors, the easily modified banshee two-stroke motor is the king of horsepower. It is relatively simple and not that expensive to get almost double the horsepower on the banshee mill, going from 35-37 hp to a whopping 40-60 hp! The four-stroke raptor and yfz450 motors are considerably more expensive to extract more power from and their tendency to hand grenade multiplies significantly with power increases. " I hope this will help some of the people who ask "the question" on here all the time.
  13. v force hands down. I love em. I had ported stock reed cages with tdr reeds and then a set of boysen dualstage and I thought they where great till I got my hands on a set of v force. Now I have them in everything. My 02 xc 700 had v force 3s and my 04 xc v force 2's and both the banshees I have had I put v force 2's in. I watched a dyno chart of the same sled with v force 3's in it and then v force 2's and the 2's made more power all the way through the curve. I was told that this is why moto tassanari is dragging their feet releasing the 3's for other applications than sleds. The big sell with the 3's was that they could be totally dissasembled without any tools. The design is much different internally and I am told that this effected the power and is why they arn't delivering the same performance as the 2's Long story short I got rid of my 3's (still got em just not using them) and I now have 2's in both sleds and my banshee. hope this helps.
  14. Cool, Thanks guys. They where put on at a dealer back in rochester and I live about 4 hours from there now but Im gunna head to the closest dealer and see what they have for mounting hardware for the silencer and get it done if I have to pay at least I wont be breaking silencers.
  15. I was thinking of doing exactly that. I havent done a plug chop but when I go through all 6 gears and hit wot and hold it and pull in the clutch and kill it and pull the plugs the base ring is black and a little wet. my porcelin that I can see is chocolate but I havn't done a plug chop. I did this test back when the air temp was 45-50 and It looked about the same. maybe a little less dark and wet but I was looking at the porcelin then not the base ring so Idk if it might have been dark then too.
  16. If your lein on one side I would look for an air leak. I wouldn't jet up on one side and not the other... but Im having jetting problems right now too so I dont know if I know what Im taking about anymore.
  17. Its about 80 degrees durring the day, going down to 55-65 at night. air box lid off with pro flow dual stage foam filter.
  18. how do you delete a post you want too?????? wtf
  19. I had what felt like a little lein condition in the mid range so I raised my needles they are as far up as they go. with 290 mains stock pilots air screw 1.5 turns out about 1000 ft. My insulator is medium chocolate where you can see it. but my base ring is black and wet to about the 2 or 3rd ring on the plug when hold it wot and kill it and pull the plugs and do a plug check. My heat range seems good with br9es. but my quesion is will this rich condition make me loose that much power. It seems to rev nice and it runs great. but I dont want to cause problems should I put in smaller mains. lower my needles leave the good running banshee alone or what. all help is appreciated thanks again guys!!!
  20. Ben first I wanna say that your jetting faq page is awsome. I know how to jet but anyone who has any questions about jetting a banshee I send them to that page. Now I dont know if mine are mounted right. Do you have pics of yours mounted by chance. The only bolt holding them in is the one on the stinger tube to the frame is there supposed to be some kind of mounting on the silencer too??? They where put on by a dealer but what do they know. Any way thanks for the help...
  21. nickxcr thats me!!
  22. I love this post It just gets better and better. I looked at it earlier and put the idea into my gf's head and we're gunna ride into the woods tomorrow and do it one more good time. gotta love it...
  23. Ok I like my pipes I like the power and I like the sound. But my silencers have been nothing but a headache. so far both silencers have broken off where they are welded to the stinger tube and one mount broke. I will have a hundred dollar bill in 3 month old silencers by the time its all done. I tried several times to email fmf with no response so finally I got them on the phone today and they said mail them my silencers and they will weld them for me. Well I live in NY so they said about 3 weeks down time THREE WEEKS!! I ride every day. by the time I wait 3 weeks and pay to have them shipped I might as well have them welded locally so thats what im doing but how can I make them quit breaking??? Its just a headache!!
  24. Ya I dont see whats wrong with it. Your gas tank is no different than a gas can. watch the pump and see how much gas you put in to fill it up then add the proper amount of oil and jump on it a couple times. Do a couple hard wheelies leaving the gas station and shees fine. done it a lot with no problems.
