  1. Im thinking of ditching my sst's for a set of T5's what do yall think???? what will my performance differences be. what kind of jetting changes will I have to make???? thanks,
  2. nope, not nesessarily... I had this happen to me twice now. I had a gurgaling sound when I shut it off and I was finding that it was going through coolant. I found both times that it was the head gasket. I took my head off and you could see black marks on my head gasket where the exhaust was entering the coolant. What happens is when you rev it up to a decent rpm and your head gasket isnt perfect it will allow exhaust to enter the coolant and pressurize the system causing coolant to leak out the overflow. ride it a little then take your rad cover off (being careful of course) and see if there is much pressure in the coolant. If there is try to look at the coolant with the motor running and see if you see any oily residue in the coolant (sometimes you can see this)... try this and get back to us... since you have an aftermarket head you may be able to take it off and see if there is any black marks on the top of the cylinder from exhaust entering the coolant Idk I have a stock head... try it
  3. I used mothers for years then I tried turtle wax chrome polishe and that was ok but I got some 3m majic wadding and that stuff is great. It comes in a chrome can and it is a wad of cotton soaked in polish you just rip some off and polish with it then use a cloath to take it off. the stuff works awsome!!
  4. mine did the same thing and it had a hole in the piston but if you have compression then it cant be that. only 4 things contribute to this. fuel, air, compression and spark. one of them isn't coming through. gotta figure out which one then why...
  5. Im trying to dial in my jetting close, I wanna leave it just a little rich cause sometimes I leave the house and its 80 degrees then im comming home late at night and its like 50degrees. I wanna be safe at 50 and still run good at 80 if possible, anyway... 2. Reading the base ring to determine jetting: The base ring "color" is very close to the color of the piston crown and is used to determine the jetting. You're looking for the soot color to be a nice light to medium brown, (color is always hard to describe) if the color doesn't go all the way around the base ring (at least one full thread turn on the plug) or the color is whitish it is way too lean. If the color goes all the way around, but there is a spotting of heavy dry soot on the top of the color, you are too rich. how acurate is this??? my base ring is black with spots of soot and a little wet on the threads (could this be from running 390 mains and mixing 20:1 durring my break in???? ) should I clean them off then ride and see if they get black again??? Im currantly running 370 mains toomey needles at 4th down from top, 30 pilots with air screw 2 turns out. foam filter with the mods in my sig. also. I believe I read that you should jet up till you have a stumble on top end then down one size. I cant seem to get a "stumble" I went up to 390 mains and I dont think I should have to go much higher than that I just have a mild "clean up" port job with vitos ss pistons, v force, and sst's... when you say stumble... when I reach the very top of some of the gears it seems to gurgle a little but I dont seem to get it in the top of 6th???? is this the stumble I hear of??? sorry this is so long... anyone with helpful info would be greatly appreciated. (Im a chicken shit and am afraid to keep going down on my mains)
  6. I have a set of axle bearings and seals along with a new axle for my blaster then I blew it up and havn't fixed it yet. now my axle on my shee is bent so I got a new one comming but I wanna know if I can use the axle bearings that I have in my garrage for my blaster on my banshee????? Thanks!!!
  7. It would all depend on the state and local liability laws. Most likely you would have been screwed. I know in NY it would have been all on the atv operator. our tax dollars at work
  8. the checks in the mail I gotta have an axle and this will be perfect. stock is all I need. BY the way... What color is it?? white??
  9. man all this fighting sucks!! I try to be cool with everyone on this site. I come here for help/advice and to give it when I can. I go to atvconnection to fight with the kids
  10. me too always... I do most of my best shit talking when Ive got a good buzz on... Labatt Blue Light RULES!!
  11. I have no problem with 4 strokes. I ride with a bunch of em. I had a warrior and if I had to have a quad other than my shee it would be a yfz 450. I dont like people who say they are gunna out run my modded shee with a yfz 450. In a straight line its not gunna happen. motocross they are the best, I dont deny that but I ride wide open spaces and long roads most of the time so a shee is the perfect quad for me...
  12. I let a friend ride my quad and my axle is bent . Im wondering if the stock banshee and warrior axle are the same??? anyone know?? Thanks guys!!
  13. oh shit roosthrower... thats gunna get em riled up!!
  14. Man that sucks I had one laying around my shop for like 3 years then like 2 weeks ago I was putting some shit on ebay and I put that on and sold it for 5$... If I still had it i'd be glad to send it to ya... bummer!!
  15. All you have to do is read the first two lines and you know he dosn't know what hes taking about. Prolly has a blaster!! Did you read that some where or did your local dealer tell you that, Never ridden a quad have ya?? Put all your addons on your 4 joke and try to keep up. on a track you have an advantage, the rock hard, uncomfortable seat allows you to move your body faster. a good pilot will smoke you on your little yfz. The yfz handles and rides better so you dont have to break a sweat riding. Heres an idea get a scrambler then you wont have to shift either!!! a piped shee will smoke a yfz from the start line until the shee rider decides to let up and wait for his buddy. You tree huggers said this about the raptor too remember. and we all know how that race turns out see ya!!...
  16. Yup I think your right!!
  17. your exactly right my friend. I ride with two yfz 450's every day one is bone stock and one has a pipe, jetted, and some rims and tires and I can walk either one of them on any surface. in a mx race on on a track it might be a different story but we run wide open roads and dunes and anytime I hear that piped yfz commin I drop a gear and hit the throttle and I pull away like crazy. from complete stops or rolling starts it dosn't matter I can walk them every time. Dont get me wrong Im saying Im faster not that I have better suspension or a better mx bike, I dont ride that style I like to go long, straight, and fast. and for that nothing beats a banshee!!
  18. exactly, get a scrambler... But then they have a disadvantage too, they are too heavy, get a raptor, but then they have a disadvantage too, they are top heavy and not very snappy, get a yfz but then the seat is too hard, get a z 400, but then they are only availabte at suzuki dealers... rotflmfao!!!! My banshee only heats up when Im pulling a trailor full of cow dung around the farm!! lol I can cruise all day at any speed all you gotta do is keep a little air on the radiator (like with anyother radiator) It needs air flow to keep it cool...
  19. there great for that kind of riding I hear... I like to run fast and straight though so It dosn't enthouse me much...
  20. Raptors have their place. Anyone can ride them so they are nice to get for a first time rider who wants to be able to keep up and a blaster or warrior isn't fast enough.
  21. alot!! lol
  22. yes yes yes... I know but no one responds to anything in there. didn't want yours anyway!!!
  23. Just wondering if anyone wants to trade their T5's for my fmf sst's. They are in great condition and I really like em but I wanna try T5's with my mods and see if they make a difference to the sst's. thats all.... If anyone is interested email me [email protected]
  24. by easier to tune they mean that the whole read cage comes apart by snapping rather than screws. You can snap the whole thing apart in your hand put in new reeds and snap it back together. As far as power if they are the same v force 3s that they put out for sleds then Id stick to the 2s. I had 3s in my sled and I was using them for a while and my dad had the same sled with the same pipe and he had v force 2s and he was passing me. I wrote it off as being one engine faster than the other (since that does happen). then an engine builder that my family knows that works very close with HTG (hot to go) racing showed me a dyno graph of the same sled with v force 2s in it and then v force 3s and the 3s produced almost 3 hp less in some places. I ditched my 3s and got a set of 2s for the sled and it perked up a bit. (Im closer to the old man now). a little different intake setup and I think I can take him Thats my take on v force. The 2s have to be taken apart by using a screw driver but you only have to take them apart and put in new reeds like every few years so I think I can take the screws....
