go to the hardware store plumbing dept, I'm sure you can find some rubber bushing to make your rubber grommet, just place it in between the holes you drilled. that would be the cheap fix for ya!

Why would you want bling on those brackets? They're not supposed to be visible to the eye & looks much cleaner if the were painted black. I know this doesn't answer your question but it is a forum & don't seem to like your idea. How about some pics to see watcha working with? Maybe I'm wrong....

I like how your stock orange, looks alot better than lakers or the ebay link you posted. I've seen this fiberglass front used by artists for airbrushing.
