compression test will not tell you if you have a bad seal!!!
you will need to do a leak down test to find that out. do a search on here and you will find out all you need to know about leak down tests. hope this helps
all but idle kit. you will have to buy it or make it. i just used some out of a old set of carbs. when you buy the kit they are selling you a tap and a drill bit that you already have. it is very easy to do. let me know. aaron

what they said. it does damage quick if you dont know how to use it. but if you insist, i'll give you a great deal on a used set up. yes you do need a battery for fuel pump,blanket,and solenoid.
coil wires fire at the same time, try plug boot or wire. are plugs wet or dry? do you have spark on both plugs? check you compression that what i sounds like to me.
craftsman and snap-on sell a special socket for rounded of nuts, it has teeth on it that grab the bolt or nut, you tap it on and then you back the nut off. works kind like an easy out.
a leak down test will not tell if you have a broken reed. it will still fire on a broken reed. if you have spark on both plugs at the same time it is not your stator. your problem is fuel or air.
crank rods can move side to side, its when they move up and down on the crank you have a problem. midwest crank in green bay wi does awsome work. email me if you would like his #. aaron
as i re-reed your post you said it jumps from bearing to bearing, ill bet your crank is bent.
