  1. checked right carb float hieght and it was 21.04mm so i think that is ok. she still will not start , but i did notice that when i got it running on premix again that it ran actually good with the choke on. maybe it is a seal in bottom end. where do i get the parts to do a leakdown test? i might try that. will my local yamaha dealer be capable of doing it? they are pretty anal!
  2. pilot is a 25, main is 260 w/fmf power. just checked float hieght it was at 26mm. i changed it to 21.5 mm. that was in the left carb i will check the right one after supper.
  3. where is it lean should i fatten the pilot? it is the pilot that i got out of the moose kit
  4. i have been trying for months now, almost ready to bring it to the "stealer" here goes 1995 banshee new crank and top end new seals and gaskets, new cool head,stock bore, no porting, and 22cc domes. when motor was at engine rebuilder i bought the moose carb rebuild kit, removed the tors, and put on a boost bottle, an a twist grip. put motor back in and it will only start when i spray premix in the carbs will run shitty and wont idle, sounds like it is running lean, tried startin fluid around all gaskets and it didnt do a thing, bike will not start a million kicks and nothing. 125lbs compression, 93 octane mixed 32:1. if I just spray some gas in carbs it will fire right up cleaned carbs twice now and it still does same thing. im pulling my hair out right now. if i open carb bowl drain screws fuel flows pretty steady out of both of them. fuel flows good out of petcock on tank. looked like carbs could be out of sinc, i will fix that tonight.pipes feel extremley hot after only reving it for maybe thrty seconds. motor sounds pretty crisp on the top end though. but idle and from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle sound like shit. a little backfiring out of pipes when im getting on it where is my problem? thanks for any help.

  7. last night at work a fellow shee owner informed me that removing the parking prake set up throws off the cdi box rev limiter. on this rebuild i also went to an adjustable clutch perch set up. removed the entire park brake setup. could this maybe be my problem? thanks for all the info. also when i adjusted me float height it was only on one carb, the choke carb.
  8. not to be a smartass or anything, but wouldnt the banshee still start up with the 25 pilots? before the overhaul the bike ran great with this set up. the only thing i changed after overhal is a boost bottle, coolhead, and tors elim. how critical is the float height? what is best way to measure it. also i only changed the height on one carb, the left one that was bailing over. i will order the 30 pilots. i just got done trying to start it about 20 min ago and it would not go, after a shot of carb cleaner it fired up but ran rough and died. then i went to the heavy stuff (start fluid) started right up and started to back fire and then die. thanks for the help
  9. ya they have nice fit. should i use some kind of thread sealer on them? thanks still will not start.
  10. also i just checked the carb bowls and they are on the right carbs. also added a boost bottle. the mains are 260 and pilots are 25. bike has fmf pipes on it. also cleaned the pilots out. thanks for any help.
  11. my 1995 banshee that has just come back from dead, new bottom and top end, new cool head,just removed the tors with the kit. 120 lbs in each hole. air screws at 1 3/4 turns. carb crossover tube is there. rebuilt the carbs with the carb kit. when i went to start it up right after i got the engine back in the frame it started on like 3 kicks. i noticed that the left carb was bailing over, so i turned it off and bent that little clip that pushes on the needle and seat. well the carb stopped leaking gas. to get it started i now have to spray tarting fluid in air box, it will start right up. it runs really good on the big end. runs like crap at low end and wont idle. when i let the rpms come down after reving it up and i sqeeze the throttle it like kinda bogs and then comes on hard. thanks for the help that you can give me. this site is really rocks. aaron
