Damage To Case From Rod Going Out, Bad?
jbooker82 replied to ATVridinMaNiAc's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If you would have ran it a little longer you would have only had to trench one side for a 10 mill crank -
I think if I ever had to dispute anything through ebay or paypal I would send them links to Minkia38's feedback on here.

I pull wheelies on my raptor on snow pack with 4 snows. I have mine mounted on 10" wide rims with tubes.

Look at it this way. YZ250 MX bike is 56 hp stock, YZ450F MX bike is 55 HP stock. If they were both equal and equally as fast then why do you not see 250 two strokes in professional MX races. They might be equally as fast on the top end but it is how, and how fast they get there that is drasticaly different. Look at it this way a MX race is repeated drag race from corner to corner and jump to jump. A drag race is not about top speed, it is about having the fastest acceleration.

Rear brake line won't bleed out
jbooker82 replied to locogato11283's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Try filling it up from the bleeder. Use a big schringe and a hose to force fluid in to the caliper and up in to the rez. That way your pushing the air up instead of down. It should be enough to get it pressure to bleed it like normal. Completly dry brakes are hard to get to take fluid. -
I usually point the radiator in to the wind and let it idle when it hits around 225 or so. I will shut it down at 230-235 deg f. I normally dont see temps that high. Normal operating temp for me is 180 to 210 deg F. All these temps are measured with a liquid temp gauge right at the outlet on the cylinder head.
-
the pipes aren't liquid cooled, and there is more exhaust gases heating the pipes when the motor is under a load.

Banshee Head/Piston, Does this look normal?
jbooker82 replied to DirectIntelect's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You can also pull those small bolts out of the sides of the cylinders to drain them so you dont get near as much antifreez in the bottom end when you pull the head. -
The hottest temp your going to find is under WOT after a really long straight away pass. They start to cool back down as soon as you let off, and I find it real hard to ride WOT and use in infered temp gun at the same time. Besides chrome is reflective so the gun isnt as accurate.

Because they are out of ballance. You normally dont ballance atv tires because they are used off road where you have to deal with rough terrain. Also the quality of the tire you purcahse. A good tire brand will a more unifom tire so it wont be out of ballance as bad.

I dont get it. Everyone use to say that you just throw a crank away when it goes bad / needs rebuilt. It cost more to reubild it than to buy a new one. Now you have no name cranks being put together for cheaper than a new Hot Rods crank. So why is it cheaper to BUY a NEW Hot Rods Crank vs. Rebuilding a Hot Rods Crank, vs. Assembling (rebuilding with all new parts) a no name brand crank that sells for cheaper than the first two options. The expense to rebuild a crank was suposedly the LABOR, not the parts. So with these new cranks being assembled are the guys working for less money (labor) or are the parts just super inexpensive. The cash has to be saved some where.
-
All these magical, mysterious, cranks that no one has a clue about. I would stick with real name brand Hot Rods crank. How much money are you going to save going no name vs Hot Rods? Then ask your self is saving that dollar amount worth having to possibly buy a new set of cases, another crank, cylinders, and pistons later on down the road if it fails.
-
You have the metal strap loose. It conects the case halfs, and retains the bearing behind the clutch basket
-
If you need a rebuild I would just do it right with a port job and wiseco's.
-
Hahaha. It wouldn't surprise me if they showed up chrome spray painted.
-
Does the key actually operate the switch? Also were the parts painted or hydro dipped with carbon fiber graphics?
-
Yep and according to your post your just spose to tell me how awesome I am with no bashing / flaming, because we are trying to keep it like the old HQ.
-
900-1000 cc v twins with a set of paddles front and rear are fast. Then you get guys throwing turbos on them.
-
I am not bashing you personally. My last post was for the one above it. If in deed you came that close to an 800cc raptor then there is something wrong with it. It isn't going to be the norm.

Black Aligator 160mm Wind Cutter MTB Rotor
jbooker82 replied to jbooker82's topic in For Sale - Non Banshee Related
You could probably fasten it some how to the flywheel, then run it with no stator cover for a real bad ass effect. Just hope it doesnt come loose when your on the throttle hard. -
Black Aligator 160mm Wind Cutter MTB Rotor
jbooker82 replied to jbooker82's topic in For Sale - Non Banshee Related
Sorry for the delay. Yea most newer MTB's come with 160mm rotors. I did notice a little beter braking with this one over my standard tektro 160mm rotor. There are some MTB's that come with 160mm on the front and 140mm on the rear. So this one could be placed on the front, then take your stock 160mm and put it on the rear so you would have a 160mm front and rear setup with the better rotor on the front. As long as your replacing a 160mm rotor with a 160mm rotor nothing else is required. If your going up in size then you need a new calipar bracket. Preferably the same brand as the calipars. You can also use this on a GoPed if your running MTB brakes on it as well. I run this same rotor only a 140mm verson on my GoPed BigFoot. -
Not if you dont set the castor correctly.
-
Took my banshee to the drag stip today. Ron Capps was there with his funny car. He was like want to run em. I said hell yea. Cant believe I actually won. True story, dont bash, just tell me how awesome I am.

Yep. I currently own both. 2003 Yamaha Raptor 660 which as the motor built. 102mm bore, +4mm stroker (720cc's). Kenz Cycle Tech ported head with +1mm Ferrea valves, Mega Cycle X-4 cam, 35mm Keihin FCR's, K&N's, Sparks 6x big core exhaust, +2 in swing arm 1997 Yamaha Banshee, 65mm Bore, +4mm stroker crank, FAST Dune Port, 185 psi cranking compression on race fuel, CPI Inframes, Kehin PWK 33's, K&N Pods, timing set at +4 deg, Direct Drive Lockup with 6 oem springs. On the top end both are pretty much dead even. One doesnt really pull away from the other one. That is with both riders about the same weight. We switched rides and it didnt really change anything. The raptor launches better for me because I weigh 250lbs and it has more low end grunt. That being said I wouldnt get rid of ether one.

Or maybe they just get tired of hearing tall tails, I caught a fish this big, or old war stories, what ever you want to call them. If it was a ligitmate 800cc raptor it would be in the upper 70's for hp. It is a 4 stroke so it will be way more forgiving on the launch than a banshee, and it was against a stock piped banshee. He just as well of been on a blaster with one plug wire pulled off. It would be just as believable.
