I got dyno's of stock cylinder dune ports making 80+hp.. Post some of your detuned cubs... we'll see wich is the better setup.
Just because someone drag races.. doesn't mean thats all they do.
If you look at CPI's website I beleive there is a option to get the stamping on the inside.. maybe thats what you got.. The small dent is another issue. CPI's customer service is pretty good.
oh.. so now you want to compare a 68mm bore x 58mm stroke against stock bore and stroke stroke stock cylinders?? That dont make much sense...
How about a stock bore with +4 stroke stock cylinders?.. people are making 80hp all the time with a dune port.. Its nothing new. Passion and FAST both have a VERY good dune port that is more then capable of 80+hp. Hell.. A&S trail port made 72hp.
I'm done.. thread has gone far enough off course.. This debate can go on forever...
Bottom line.. The port durations on a cub dont favor T-5 or any other trail pipe.. If you have a set handy.. feel free to strap them on and go to town. It wont blow up or anything.
I think a set of dune ported stock cylinders will make just as much as a detuned 421 cub. (both on gas) And have just as good of a curve.. I'll take that bet..
Bottom line.. the port durations on a cub favor drag pipes.. simple as that.. yeah.. there are ways to squeeze a lil more bottom end out.. but its still a drag cylinder. Your trying to make it have power where it just wasn't designed to have it. Why buy a cub just to castrate it... when its cheaper just to port a set of stockers and get the same end result?
Its not that its a bad trade.. its just that people who have CPI's are probably not going to want a midrange pipe. So your kinda hitting a narrow market. You might have better luck selling your PT mids outright then buying a used set of CPI's.
Bump for a good set of pipes.
Not to mention.. cheaper. Why spend the money on a motor designed to make all its power ontop.. just to take it away by choking it down to make it more "rideable". There are other options available that will give you better performance and power spread at a cheaper price..
It dont hurt the seals... I've switched case oils every other week.. all depends on what I have at the time.. I've swtiched from gear saver to 10w30 to MTL to type F back to gear saver back to type F.. hell I've even used belray thumper oil. No problems here.. As long as its for a wet clutch.. I'll use it.
I'd go with PWK's also, Lectrons are nice carbs but.. unless you can get a steal of a deal... go with the PWK's. Havn't seen any performance gains from the lectrons up this way either.
Packard Racing is the best place to get the Lectrons if your gonna go that route.
The prices are from my work but.. Pricing will vary a little from dealer to dealer.

Here's the best pic I got of the throttle and cable at this time.. I'll have better ones tomorrow. I got out of work late tonight and didn't get a chance to snap some more.
Best place to find used chassis's is on Planet Sand or ATVdragracers.com
Usually around Feb people start to buy new stuff with tax money and they post their old stuff.
Also might send a PM to AZQUADCUSTOMS on here.. he could build a good chassis at steal of a price too. Flyhighprerunner is/was selling one of AZ's chassis's.... dont know if he still is or not..
Still got a few parts forsale. If you want pics let me know.
