  1. im not trying to take anything away from the banshee , i really love the power . but if look at all the riders using the new 450s , even the privateer's that can use any bike they want because their not under contract with a big bike company . my shee rides very good with my suspension , alot better than alot of quads i ride with. but the new bike are so much better , i i agree the the raptor sits very high , feels like its going to tip easy and im 6'2'', i have 2 brothers one has trx 450 and the other has the yfz 450 , so i rode them both the yfz you said was too stiff , if you set it up for your weight and set the race sag it would be better . i also think the trx 450 rides better than the 250r just my 2 cents
  2. i have ohlins front shocks and +2 aarms on the front and a pep rear and my banshee doesnt handle as good as my brothers stock trx 450 suspension , im not even going to get into the shitty geometry or the lack of bottom end power . im not nocking the banshee at all but if you plan on xc racing get a 450 to be competitive . if you are racing on a banshee you are just handicapping yourself , unless it straight line , hillclimb or drag then its all banshee.
  3. i have them both already , fattys are a little rusty and t5s are clean , thats why , im going to just sell the other set .
  4. 97 a arm frame for sale . will ship anywhere straight , nothing bent , nothing stripped , painted white
  5. will i have to change my jetting going from fattys to t5's ?, which sounds better fattys or t5 , how about performance which would you guys use ?
  6. some companys make aftermarket j-arms , but they are expensive , denton makes them 675 bucks , for that much you can change the frame to a a-arm and your banshee will be worth more with the newer frame
  7. she was hot (skinny anna not the fat anna) but she was as smart as a rock . still feel bad for her family , little baby . she always seemed like she was high on some kind of drug .
  8. a guy i went riding with once had a j-arm banshee and was jumping it and a j-arm snapped and the quad flipped and he spiral fractured his femur . he was in the hospital for 2 weeks and out of work for 6 months and we were 8 hours from home , riding in another state . he still doesnt walk right and i end up buying his banshee for 400 bucks and doing a a-arm frame swap . its not worth it, for guys duning or dragging j-arms are probably fine but if you go and jumping or hard riding i would get rid of them and go to a- arm. btw i have a 97 a-arm frame for sale
  9. i use a kerosene space heater (bullit heater ) in my garage 16 + 34 , and it heats the hell out of it , it was like 6 degrees here yesterday and i turn the heater on for 10-15 minutes and i was working in my shop in a t shirt. the key to heating a garage is insulation , if its not insulated it will never stay warm you have to keep the heater running and wasting fuel
  10. sounds like its worth it , 1500 , buy all that stuff seperate and it probably be more . 1200 more for motor and carbs and your set , its better to build your own banshee because you know every thing is new . you never know what you are going to get when you buy used shit ,someone elses headache . plus you can build it the way you want
  11. thats crazy , even the little girl could do it , that why the first thing i put in my house was a alarm. i mean second thing ( first was a shotgun)
  12. need a axle nut for a durablue
  13. you think that the only reason you see all the 450's at the races is because they are the newest thing ? i think its because they are just better at racing then a banshee with a 20 year old design . not taking anything a way from the banshee , i love mine but if i was to start racing it wouldnt be on a banshee , 450s have way better suspension and geometry , and bottom end power that you never get out of a banshee , i race motorcross and i got rid of my cr 250 and got a crf450 , not because all the factories are pushing them , just because they are faster , turn better and get traction out of corners , and i put down alot faster lap times on a 4 poke . i will agree some type of racing suit the banshee , desert racing , hill climb , drag , but a banshee is not for everone , it take alot of aftermarket parts and money to get the suspension right on a banshee . i have ohlins front shocks +2 a arms and pep rear and it doesnt handle a good as my brothers stock trx 450. just my 2 cents
  14. what kind of axle is that (199)
  15. yes sounds like 2 different problems , water in the tranny is water pump seal but that wouldnt make it smoke , you changed the head gasket , could be the base gasket , maybe burning oil (crank seal )like Banchetta said but i had a bad crank seal once and it didnt smoke at all. it was blowing oil out of the owerflow tubes. i would do a compression test , leak down test and pressure test the cooling system
  16. they look like shit , my dirt bikes doesnt have them amd that sprocket never came off , im going to loctite them and see what happens. any body else take them off ?
  17. i tjink you should get a aftermarket water pump , cool head , water wetter or engine ice and you wont need a fan.
  18. putting a new sprocket on and i was wondering if anybody puts the 3 metal tabs that stop the nuts from backing off back on or do you use threadlock .?
  19. me too , those stock hangers are shit . just bought a set of aftermarket billet hangers off ebay , i will let you know how they work out . the rubber on my stock ones always spilt , the last time i drilled a hole through them and put a bolt to hold them together , worked pretty good.
  20. clymers repair manuals have all the wiring diagrams , if you get the latest edition it probably has the newer wiring diagrams in it , maybe you could goto their website ? im sure you could just add wires for the harness because the stator is the same . then you just have to get the switches. i will see if my friend is using the harness today and i will let you know.you can find them cheap on ebay , probably easier than rewiring your harness
  21. i just gave a 2004 harness to my friend , i will see if he still has it. you probably could make your stock harness work , there are extra wires going to the tail light and from the front and rear switches , i think the front master is different on the 2003 and up , look up a wiring diagram for the newer models , the newer repair manuals should have it . it might just be easier to get a new harness from yamaha , i looked it up and a new harness from yamaha is 100 bucks and the rear brake switch is like 30 more , probably find it alot cheaper on ebay
  22. you need a 2003 wiring harness and a switch for the rear break that mounts right above the r brake pedal
  23. maybe crank seal, or air leak in intake
  24. elevation has a lot to do with jetting , at sealevel with those mods i was running 290-300 main and 25 pilot
  25. i knew it came loose because it died in the middle of the woods at 12;00 at night , pitch black, stayed with my shee while a friend went and got my truck , i was scared shitless two deer ran right by me and i pissed myself . i got it home and kicked it and heard a noise on the flywheel side and found out it came loose. as for the spark plugs i just tighten them by hand then go about 1/2 a turn or so with a wrench , "slow idle "? does that mean it doesnt idle at all? what do you mean by slow idle ?
