put it this way.ever try and turn a piece of pipe in a pipe vice.where is it easier to turn way out near the end of the pipe ? or closer to the vice.a narrower lighter axle is less rotating mass making it easier for your motor to turn the wheels.when i got my stocker narrowed from metal tech i noticed my bike launched way straighter. like an arrow. now with the 8 lb lonestar it launches harder and straighter than ever.

is it the old style pipe? like as in no o ring on the inside? get some shorter pipe springs and some high heat silicone.if you can t get some shorter pipe springs,cut the ones you have.
