  1. Don't know if they had the throttle wide open but I will make sure it is when I check mine. The guy with the ported motor has a cool head with 18 cc domes. I thought that 80 and 100 sounded low. Will tyr it and see. Thanks for the info
  2. I have a shaved head and I am around 3200 ft. What is a good compression? My buddy has stock motor except for pipes and his was 80 psi. My other buddy has a ported motor and his was 100 psi. Are these numbers too low or are they about right. Also do you need a special compression tester or is one for a car alright?
  3. Ill try some 300 tonight and ride tomorrow. Ill prolly do a plug chop to see the changes between the two.
  4. That sucks, Just today me and a buddy were riding and racing. A cop pulled up and asked what we were doing. We told him and he said " are you done". We said yeah. He says Im going down the road to check on something so you just load them up and Ill be out of your hair and havea nice day. Maybe Texas cops are nicer. I get pulled over allthe time but never got it impounded or even a warning! I live in a small town though so I know all the cops, even throw a few back at the river with them
  5. I have a 2005 shee with a 14 tooth, shaved head, and t6 pipes. My buddy has a 2003 LE shee with air box mod, FMF fatty's, and a 15 tooth. In the sand in a 300 ft drag we are really close but i spin a lot though. On the street we are about even until the end of 4th gear then he starts to pull away. By sixth gear he has left me really bad. If i go to a 15 will I do better in the sand and on the street?
  6. I have a shee with a shaved head (.030), toomey t6, and I cut some holes in the air box. I am around 3200 feet above sea level. Around what size jets should I run? Also, a friend of mine has a shee with FMF Fatty's and the same air box mod. What jets should he use?
  7. Same thing happened to me but I was the ,well ,16 year old. My stepdad is cool. At first I didn't want to like him cause i figured he would be just like my real dad. But we got along real well. Don't pressure him into doing things with you at all. If he says nah, say ok cya. Push him to much you will push him away causing problems between you and the girl. My stepdad drag races at a local track. He asked me to go a couple times but I didn't really care to. Then I went and I had a blast. He showed me around, we BS'd with his friends. Now I have a drag car and actually beat him in points at the track last year. I think the most important thing is treat him more like a friend than a son. He is 15 and already has a mind of his own, he can't be molded into a little you. If he likes other things don't pretend that you like them, he will know. When I say treat him more like a friend, I mean like someone you meet at the dunes. You talk a little, then start hanging out, then become really good buds. But he also has to know that you are the man of the house. Also, if he tells his mom something, don't ask what are you two talking about. It's between him and his mom. If he wants you to know he'll tell ya. Just take it slow and don't expect alot. Maybe he will be a new kind of 15 year old that listens to his elders and respects authority I am 23 now and I still hang with my stepdad. Anyway good luck
  8. Bunch of buddies and me went out to the river to ride and race. Set up two lanes and marked 300 ft with cones. Then a group of honda 450r's came along. The all had cams, exhaust, and k&n's. We all decided to use regular tires since some people didn't have paddles. We all chipped in 20 bucks for the wining pot. Decided to make it double elemination. So it was a YFZ450( cams, exhaust, k&n), my shee (shaved head, t6's), 04LE shee (ported) , and a 02 shee (4mm stroker) VS. the 4 hondas. The ported shee wom it all followed by the stroked shee. I came in third just because the YFZ 450 couldnt come of the line worth a crap. The hondas, I dont know if the just couldnt ride or maybe the machine was scared of the yama's. I was beating them by 1-2 quads everytime. It was fun though, we all went and partied later that night
  9. I usually race 300 ft drags in sand. Im guessing that the +4 advance will help. Will the lightened flywheel give me more low end or just make it rev faster. I dont care about top end with this banshee, I just bought another one for my wife so i can always ride it for top end. Thanks for all the info
  10. What does it do?
  11. Thanks guys, I am all cleared up now, until I find something else I can't figure out.
  12. So with a 795 piston the domes need no reshaping?
  13. Does an after market head require reshaping? Also, why do people use blaster pistons instead of shee pistons? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get this figured out. There are so many ways to mod a shee I can't keep up being new to them. Wouldn't want anything else now that I have one though
  14. If you use a long rod do you need to add plates. The reason I ask is because a friend of mine baught a shee and each cylinder had a plate. It's not real thick but it's not on a stock shee. Is it a stroker kit or what?
  15. On a long rod kit do you use a shorter piston, taller piston or just stock piston with whatever bore you have? Also, do you have to add a plate to allow the longer rod to travel without hitting the head? Finally, why does a long rod help? Does it increase the stroke giving you more cc? Does it give more top or bottom end? Just wondering and sorry about all the questions
  16. Just put my shaved head on and it made a difference. I raced my buddies yfz450 and he won by about 4 quad lengths. He just got his back with web cams so I figured I would get beat. I still need to lighten flywheel and advance timing. Anyway, I used a friends set of 10 paddle haulers and it didn't bog through mid and top like it did before the head mod. Will tens be ok after the flywheel mod and timing mod. Or do I need to drop to 9 paddle or even eight?
  17. Don't judge-No one is perfect No one is a better Christian than the other-All men are created equal Big Bang Theory-White hole, God just lit the fuse Has anyone ever wondered that God created different relegions knowing that different races of people might have different beliefs? Almost everyone in this forum believes that the Banshee is the greatest quad ever produced. Go to a thumper forum and they will think different. That doesn't mean that either one of them is better. The thumper is better on the MX track, the Banshee is better for dragging. Ultimately it's the thrill of the ride that brings people to ride a quad. Whatever relegion you beleive in there is an ultimate purpose. IMO, God knew we would not agree, so he had many relegions to bring people to him. Think of Yamaha as God, they don't just produce one quad. If they did how many riders would Yamaha have? Now if they produce 8 different quads, that is eight different type of people they can have buying their quads. They may not all agree on the types of quads and may argue on which is better, but I think it is all in the scheme of things. Who knows we may be all wrong
  18. Yes he has a pipe. I believe its Big Gun Exhaust.
  19. I have a 2005 shee with a shaved head, T6 pipes, and I am getting the flywheel lightened and a +4 advance with some clamp on K&N's. My buddy has a 450yfz and he just got web cams. He also has a rev box, K&N, and jetting. It is tuned really well. The thing has a lot of torque. Just want to know if I stand a chance against him in a drag race around 300 feet long. We race longer sometimes for fun. we will be racing in the sand and he uses 9 paddle extremes and I use 8 paddle haulers.
  20. Which intake performed better?
  21. I have a 2005 shee with T6 pipes ( for now). Just shaved my head .030 and I usually run pump gas but sometimes I mix 104. What should my screws be set at. Does the difference in octane mean I need to adjust the screws when running a higher octane. Dont know if it matters but at the drag strip last night the air was around 5000. Have stack airbox with K&N filter.
  22. If I buy and install aftermarket intakes will I notice a difference in power or in throttle responce? I just had my head shaved and I am fixing to order a aftermarket timing plate and thinking about getting my flywheel lightened. Need to know who to send my flywheel to if anyone knows!
  23. I just milled my stock head .030. Just wondering if I need to add any gasket sealer to the new head gasket or just slide it on then bolt down the head. Also, can I just mod my timing plate or do I have to buy and aftermarket plate?
  24. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want a car to get around in, these two might not be the right car. If you want a car to race in they will do great. These are pretty good mods and might be fast cars. Might be!!! I don't think that someone would add these mods and just cruise around town. The were probably ran really hard and never believe what a person says is on the motor milage wise. They were probably all hard driven high reving miles. Honestly, don't get a 5.0, get a camero and drop a good 350 in it. All my friends have 5.0's and I leave them behind in the quater. I race a 1978 Monte Carlo Landau with a 350 (not stock) and run 10.50's give or take a couple tenths. 5.0's are like the banshee, you will spend a lot of time working on it and less time driving it with so many mods. It is cheaper to do it yourself than buy a car you know nothing about in my opinion. But I just hate fords!
  25. I plan on getting my flywheel lightened, my stock head milled, 2 degree advance, and run some clamp on k&n's. I currently have Toomey T6 pipes. Will I feel a big difference. I want to outrun my buddies 450 YFZ, think I can with these mods. He beats me by about 2-3 quads. He always catches me in third gear and passes me. I am getting cubs and many other mods later on but for now this is what I can afford
