just checking to see if there's any interest in my pipes. picking up a set of pc's. they are fmf "high revs" i believe. gangsta old oval silencers, freshly repacked. could use a new coat of high temp paint, but look pretty decent. 2 new sparkys. just seeing if anybody wants to toss out an offer. thinking about putting them on fleabay. sound checked at 96-97 dB at silver lake with fresh packing.

the point where the clutch cable connects to has an arrow on it. there is another arrow on top of the case. these two should line up when there is no pressure on the clutch. you will be able to move it by hand if you have slack in the cable. if it doesn't line up you need to pull the clutch cover off and adjust it with the bolt in the center of the clutch basket. if you need to adjust it then you just tip the bike on it's side so you don't need to change the tranny fluid. you still need to drain the coolant though. and uhhhh... do yourself a favor and buy a clymers. later, bill

did you happen to notice if your trans fluid is at all runny. if i were you i'd check the o ring for the water pump/clutch cover. it's what happened to me. the reason i smoked the clutch in the first place, actually. definately worth checking out. bill

sounds like a clutch cover/water pump o-ring to me. trans fluid pissing seems as though it's probably thinning out and overflowing from mixing with the coolant. did you recently take the clutch cover off? if so you probably pinched the oring. take it off any way and check it. at least i would. later bill

help on crotch rocket situation
1000dollabill replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
honestly one of the best beginner bikes out there is the Suzuki sv650 and sv650s. at least if you like the idea of a vtwin. if you want a four, definately go with an older cbr600, they are bullet proof and great bikes. if you get a katana you will hate yourself in two weeks. that motor hasn't changed in more than ten years. oil cooled pooper. you can start on any bike you want, as long as you have self control. in the last three years i've had 8,000 miles of riding a sv, and 13,000 miles on a gixxer1. and just remeber zip ties add character, and glamour bikers are flamin. check out stuntlife.com for good deals on cbr's. later, bill by the way, i've owned a banshee for a month and can honestly say a shee will eat up a katana. not to mention they are sick lookin. no katana is as valuable as a banshee. for good insurance rates check out nationwide. i'm 22 and pay $680 a year with 250 deducts. full coverage. but you have to insure a car also -
honestly, i think the kid thought he had a piece of gold. little did he know it was a brass plated pile of poo. he had reciepts for recent work done... by a shop. what ever shop that was, probably needs to be set a blaze. he and his brother seemed to handle cosmetics, while someone else tranformed this bike into the pride of redneck engineering. i could be wrong, but i'd like to think he was just naive. yes it's irritating, but what can you do? i've sold many cars, trucks and motorcycles and they are always as is. i dont expect money back, or anything of that nature. i only wish i had known the mess i was getting into. luckily, these are much easier to work on and diagnose than say, my old super coupe. i have a gift for buying lemons, what can i say. but at least compression is good, as he stated. i guess that's a start. and for those guys that think he needs an ass whooping.... remember when you were 16-17? headlight covers, window tint, sound system, and rims took presidence over brakes and oil changes. next banshee i buy will be owned and operated by a 100 year old man, that is if i dont wind up in the poor house after this debacle. so next time you see me at the dunes, i'll be sitting on my $2000 lawn chair... but damn i'll look cool. so..... who's got some cheap parts!!!!????
-
oh, well. you live and you learn. i know he'll get his. I wouldn't kick his ass anyway. kid got 2grand for a rolling turd, good for him. it just sucks it was my money. but like i said, i don't like to half ass anything so she'll be tight when i've got way to much money into her. but at least i'm confident with MY work. team FSR.... that one stumps me..... wonder what it stands for? I've got my own ideas on that one. by the way, him and his brother found my broke down turd by our trucks at silver lake. My buddy apperently told him it was a damn good thing i was at duneland buying more parts. and they never stopped by again.....

well, it all starts here: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=44842&hl= bought this turd a couple weeks ago, nice kid, but what a rip coil ground wire was rigged, wound up cooking the coil. carb slide was glued on with silicon, top stripped, carbs kept coming out of sync. put a trinity 2-1 carb kit on, replaced coil took her to the dunes. i shit you not, 3 minutes at the dunes clutch is smoked. yep, internal adjustment is way off on the clutch. put a new clutch in in the parking lot, oh that was fun. mix and matched bolts everywhere, some of them were metric. clutch basket had a stripped hole, so instead of using the long ass stupid bolt that was in it, i had to slam a standard in it. ran for a whole day and a half before more problems, not to mention the walmart gasless shocks on the front, oh those were fun. losing the rigged up kicker was a riot as well. get home from the dunes only to find coolant in the trans. pop the cover, great. how did i miss the jb weld on the inlet for the water pump. that's right, i was super pissed off when doing the clutch. guess i'm the only one that believes jb weld is for non pressurized fixes only. apparently the proper bolt was in that stripped hole before the super long one and came winging out and cut a nice groove around the whole cover including the inlet for the pump. the cut goes straight through right where the o ring seats so that got chewed up rather quickly. of course the jb weld was peeling off as well. every bolt had vibrated loose, any i do mean every one of them. as it stands right now i need a new clutch cover, new front shocks, a case of locktite, and a whole bottle of friggin aspirin. oh, and paint too. the rattle can customs job now looks like this turd has leperacy. what next? I now have to rip the whole bike apart, try and put metrics back in it, and USE LOCKTITE. so anybody want to sell me some newer stock front shocks and a clutch cover? hope you spent my money wisely kid, cause i could sure use it now! she'll be nice when i'm done. at least i'll never be a first time banshee buyer again.
-
anyone have some front shocks they'd part with? bought an 87 nightmare that has "baja magnums" on it. no gas left in em at all. rather put stockers back on it than those walmart turds. any help appreciated. bought this thing "worked on by team fsr" fsr stands for f*ckin stupid redneck in this particular case

anybody have a decent clutch cover for sale (no welds)? don't care what it looks like exterior wise, as long as it wasn't dug up out of the back yard.. i'm located in detroit area. zip 48336 . thanks in advance.

if i had a vaccum leak can i use propane to identify the leak, like a four stroke? or am i just gonna blow it up if i do that? already tried a bunch of teflon on the carb top.
-
well it wasn't that crack. crack was just on the bolt housing not through. only other thing i can guess is the carb on the left side. the threads for the slide are nearly stripped (at the top of the carb). compression was at 135 on both today. no tors, no parking brake. gonna buy the trinity 2-1 carb thursday and hopefully that fixes me up. need to get this thing running and dialed in by next thursday any suggestions ideas greatly appreciated

i also forgot to mention that the left pipe pings at idle
-
just bought an 87 ,stock motor, k&n, fmf pipes ran like poo when i picked it up. reworked the carbs yesterday cause it was running rich. it had 25 pilots 270 mains needles on the 2nd clip ran like poo and really rich changed to 27.5 pilots 260 mains needles on the fourth clip ran like a scared deer still a bit rich took it out today to warm it up and do a plug chop ran fantastic. after about 15-20 minutes of running I noticed more smoke out of the right pipe than the left. suddenly backfired and had a huge powerloss and surging at wot. checked the plugs, they looked pretty good still on the rich side.. cleaned the plugs let it cool down. fired right up on the first kick and was iidling 2-3 times higher than normal. after about 20 secs it started to idle fine. still smoking more on the right than the left. gave it a turn of the throttle and it backfired. throttle was very unresponsive. turned it off and started looking for the problem. then i noticed that i had a crack in the left jug just in front of the intake (top left of square when looking at the side.) would i be correct in thinking that it warmed up and the crack opened up a little, creating a leak much like a vaccum leak and also leaning out my left cylinder and creating the eratic idle and backfiring. i'm going to tig the crack and check the reeds on wednesday when i get back in town to see if that helps. anybody have any ideas? i need to get this this thing running right. also, checked compression two days ago and both cylinders were good.
