might ride michigan dunes this summer...
1000dollabill replied to Yami_rider_4life's topic in Sand Forum
stickers will cost ya $40.25 for all year. however i think it's a bit more if you're not a michigan resident. 20 bucks for a whip (flag). if you're gonna ride sand more than once I'd get some sand stars or 8 padde regular haulers. you don't need the fronts. if you just want a cheap set of paddles i can sell you some geckos for next to nothing. need 10 inch wheels to go with them though. if you really want to RIDE i'd stay away from holiday weekends. if you do go remember holidays and weekend you will need a parking lot voucher. you need to get these the night before. which means you sit in line a couple hours every night. not to mention it gets really really busy. the voucher system starts may 15 or 16 and lasts all summer. I'd say save your money for parts while you're there. And bring tools. nothing worse than sitting out the weekend cause your bikes broke. anything you need help with, don't worry, you can walk right up to people and ask them what they think might be wrong and the best way to do it. I spend a lot of time fixing the bikes and helping others with their bikes. if you go on a holiday, i'm usually there with a shit load of tools and some spare parts. I've gotten pretty used to being the onsite mechanic for our crew. bill -
what needle do you have? more than likely a DEK or EEK. with just pipes, and a 35cv i'm at 190 main 52 pilot and fourth clip on the needle (EEK) at 700feet. never seen a jet that big in a cv. i would think youd be rich, but it depends on your elevation etc. your smaller domes could do it as well. get a pod filter and it takes about 2 minutes to throw new jets in. i'm thinking of making a tool with a 17 mm socket and 6mm nut driver to make it even faster. good luck, bill

i have a set of red powder coated j arms in great shape. can have pics asap. willing to trade/sell.

i bent mine back with the end of a cherry picker. hasn't bent again since. I didn't heat it cause it wasn't that bad.

i've got the same setup as far as motor. I also slapped on a -2 swinger, +2+1 arms, and a +2+4 axle. i just need some elkas and i'd be happier than a pig in shit. i'm pretty much strictly a duner. rode a %100 stock shee last weekend at the dunes, and i'd rather walk. have fun bud, bill

well pipes blued on the first run (procircuits), bought this stuff at murray's discount auto for $5. It's called "blue magic" says it's just an all metal polish, doesn't even mention blueing. it just happens to be a blue goop. This shit, sos pad, and ol' fashion elbow grease and the pipes look BRAND SPANKING NEW.

well since my last dune trip i switched to pro circuits (from FMF high revs), +2+1 ATV fourplay j arms, lonestar -2 roundhouse swinger,+2+4 G-Force axle, and sand stars all the way around (from geckos). I've never had a bigger shit eatin grin than last weekend for silver lakes opener. the bike's totally different. handles way better, wheelies like a mofo, launches awesome, and the sandstars hook a shitload better than the geckos. maybe it's the lack of real power or the better meats, but i don't think i'll ever give up my -2 swinger. I'm used to my gixxer 1000 on a +4 sprocket so the wheelies are in no way uncontrollable. this bike is too much fun to ride now. I'm thinkin some elka duners without rezzies and i'll be set for a while. i'm so glad i did suspension instead of motor work. best investment in my opinion. gotta quit spending money on this thing so i can buy a new truck. so i think i'm pretty content right now. on a side note the only parts i bought new were the tires and axle. got the swinger with carrier and brake plate for 270 shipped to the door off fleabay. well enough ranting. later, bill

i ride at 700 ft. 35 pwk, pro circuits, no airbox, otherwise stock. i'm at 190 main, 52.5 pilot, fourth clip down on a DEK needle. I'm a tad rich but not enough to foul plugs. hope that helps. Bill

my pc's did the same thing. first trip to the dunes with them. part that pisses me off is the water spots. just gonna leave it, hopefully it evens out. personally i think the bluing on my titanium header on my gixxer 1000 looks good. bill

Banshee engine in streetbike-build suggestions
1000dollabill replied to ALewis182's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yup you are right on with the weight transfer. that combined with the rake on a modern sportbike and you could be asking for trouble. the 2-1 parts will give you more bottom end power, where the banshe usually lacks. but in the dirt a little roost will fix that. if i were gonna do a similar project i'd do it with a "standard" motorcycle, not a rocket. those ninjas are pure junk anyway, atleast until you hit the six hundred class. another thing to think about is where the center of gravityfor the powertrain relates to the sprocket position on your chassis. it's a different story with the opposite hybrid (streetbike engine in a quad.) I'd be real cautious with your build, cause when something goes snap, crackle, pop, pavement at 70mph feels like pavement. -
Banshee engine in streetbike-build suggestions
1000dollabill replied to ALewis182's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
in my experience with both street bikes and quads (owned a sv650s and currently own a gsxr1000 and banshee). I believe a built banshee motor would be way overpowering that chassis. but if you're gonna do it, i'd say 2into1 carb and a 2into1 pipe to get that sucker rolling. better make sure you get that motor balanced in that chassis. Also i'd invest in a nice steering dampner cause tank slappers are gonna be it's best friend when that suckers on and off the pipe with that rake. -
problem with my new banshee, it only rev at ALL

Removing crankcase covers
1000dollabill replied to fun_on_the_sand's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
first USE THE RIGHT SIZE PHILLIPS easiest way cordless impact driver, next best way.... hand impact with philips bit. if you're in a hurry, use a large philips head, put a set of vise grips on it, one GOOD whack with a hammer. try to turn. if it doesn't turn don't strip it. keep whacking it (the screw driver) and turning respectively. worse comes to worst, get the ones you can and drill the heads off the remaining. remove said cover, remove remaing screws with vice grips, and go about you're business. do yourself a favor and replace them with stainless allen heads. (cascade, ebay, etc.) Good luck, bill -
