  1. I agree with the guys that talk about how hard the shearer pipe pulls.Lots of top end.I have the RDZ(shearer)pipes.I'm not totally sold on the chrome job,but the performance makes up for that. They are the best pipes I've ever used.
  2. I agree with needing several different sprockets and tires. At Little Sahara,I was using a 13/41,but we was running alot farther than 300 ft.When using paddles, you'll probably need to gear down.Sand and paddles really pull down on a quad.It will surprise you how much the sand changes also.Talking to other competitors can give alot of help.Be careful who you believe.Try to sort though who is lying and who is really trying to help.Watch to see what type of tires they are using also.Wish it was easier than trial and error, but that's what I'm having to do right now.
  3. When my cylinders were still stock,I had T-5's(definitely get the T-5),trinity head w/20cc domes.I was using the Toomey needles and a 420 main jet.The Toomey needles are alot longer.I was glad I bought them. Also get the clamp-on K&N filters w/outerwears.
  4. If the bike will sit there and idle, but the moment you hit the throttle it bogs.I almost guarantee you it's the TORS.Those big bulky things on top of your carbs(big pieces of junk).Back when I had stock carbs.,I had mine act up when I just washed it.If you've tried everything, try this. The wire that go to the perch where your clutch lever mounts to.At the perch, see the plug that plugs into the perch.Unplug it.About 2 or 3 inches from the plug, cut the wire into. There will be 2 separate wires inside.Put the plug off to the side. Now with the wires.Peal back the coating on both of the wires.Wrap them together.Start the bike.Problem solved? If it doesn't work just put the wires back together with the plug. This solution fixed one of my friends banshees.
  5. I have shearer(RDZ)pipes.If you want alot of top end,try 34 or 35 pwk's.I have the 35 pwk's converted to alcohol.Shearers are awesome.
  6. Whether or not you have to buy a new chain, depends on the condition of your current chain. If it's stretched at all,you may have to get a shorter one. Try a 13/41.A stock chain will work with a 13/41.The shredders may be better than stock, but 4-snows are better for dirt drags.I used holeshots for a long time, and I thought they worked good.I could not believe the difference in traction with the 4-snows.Mine was ported though. What ever you decide.Go beat that yfz,and have fun doing it.
  7. A stock banshee.Is there such a thing?LOL.
  8. I use K&N clamp-on filters with outerwears.Seems to work good.
  9. They either come in 22-10-8 or 22-10-9.I'm using the 22-10-8.They are great for drags. If the trails you run on are rough at all,I wouldn't use them on the trail.
  10. My wife and I will be going to St.Joe Memorial day weekend. We'll be there saturday and maybe sunday.Should be a lot of good racing.I hope to have my banshee dialed in by then. There is more than just racing there if that's not your cup of tea,but if you don't like racing then why do you own a banhee?LOL.My wife likes to just go riding sometimes so I won't be racing all day.Just most of it.If they have not had any rain close to that weekend, you will probably need paddle tires.Especially if you have alot of modifications, but any tire will do for casual riding.
  11. I was there. My banshee was red and white with gold wheels on the front.I was winning alot of races with it.How did you do?We was at the big site by the entrance.
  12. Hey,My wife and I will be going to St.Joe memorial day weekend.I've talked to some guys on other forums and I believe there will be alot of bikes show up.There will probably be several 4-strokes.There should be alot of racing.I need some fellow banshee riders to help me out. There should be several of the heavy hitters there.I'll be there saturday and maybe sunday.I'd like the banshees to make a good showing.Anybody interested? If you are, fill me in on the mods you got,if you don't care.
  13. Hey modbanshee. If you run many dirt drags, try some 4-snows.You'll probably be surprised how much traction you was losing.Mine will spin holeshots all day long.
  14. Hey superbanshee03,I see you're from Wynne,Ar.I live at Paragould,Ar.Need to meet up sometime.I think you'll be surprised how much you gain with the shearer's.I'm using RDZ inframes(made by shearer). You don't need the out of frames. They won't make any more power than the shearer in-frames.My banshee has a RDZ(rdzracing.com) level 2 port job.Even with the 35 mm.alcohol keihin carbs.,It's still rideable through trails.I said rideable not a trail quad.Plus it's a very thirsty bike.It is alot more fun wide open.I want an override, but if you still occasionally do anything other than drag race,I would not get one.I'm going to St.Joe(farmington,Mo) memorial day weekend.Want to go?Gearing is very important too.I'm still working on that. For dirt, use 4-snows(that's what I'm using).
  15. Tires make a huge difference.I use 4-snows for dirt. They should give you alot of traction.I mean good luck keeping the front end down. They work good on mine. They also expand while accelerating giving you more top end.For 300 ft.,I would use a 12/41 gearing.Launch in 2nd,wide open when you dump the clutch. You may have to build a wheelie bar.I did on mine. You should be able to beat him then.Good luck.
  16. Shortly after I had my T-6's(upset with how they were performing),I contacted Toomey and told them all the mods I had done besides the T-6's.I was told a T-5 would do better. They actually traded with me.That says a whole lot about how great of a company they really are.I'm not sure they will still do that, but I was impressed. Now I don't mean I had them 2 years and they were all beat up.I mean a few months and they still looked new.I'd have to say Toomey is worth dealing with. How come they have never designed a drag pipe?Maybe beause of all the different styles of porting?
  17. The Toomey needles when compared to the stock needles, the toomeys are alot longer. You should be able to still use them though. If it's too rich, just raise the clip one notch on the needle.I'd at least, use a 220 main jet.Maybe a 230 or 240.The needle affects the mid range. If he rides it wide open very long,a 190 could burn it up.That's smaller than a stock jet.Isn't stock a 200?
  18. I guess you're right. The bike run good with the plugs I was using, but might have run better with resistors.Since switching to alcohol,I'm now using a br9es.
  19. Maybe it did on a stock banshee.Mine had stock cylinders, but with a dyna ignition,clamp-on fiters(no air box),and a trinity head w/20 cc. domes. They said the head was possiby causing my problem with extra compression.I actually traded pipes with Toomey. They are good people to deal with. After I sent them the T-6's and got the T-5's and installed them,It had more top end.I've actually tried them both,Have you?Not trying to be rude, just asking?Toomey will tell you, they design their pipes for stock bikes. But the T-5 just responds better to mods.Head,porting,etc...
  20. I agree with sandman about the looks of the rockets. The shearer and cpi's have them beat by a mile in the looks department. That's just my opinion. The rockets may be a good pipe, but I've never tried them.I will probably never try a set.I'll stick my RDZ's(shearer).
  21. Pro circuits are a good pipe.My friend's bike runs good.His has a 400 main jet.May be too much where you ride.Going from a pc to a T-5,won't help you a whole lot.Porting really wakes a banshee up.Good investment.
  22. I use RDZ pipes(RDZ racing.com)they're made by shearer. They pull extremely well on top end.Cpi makes a good pipe also. For a stock cylinder,I think I'd go with the T-5.Can't comment on the rockets, because I've never tried them.Cut those fenders.
  23. Oh yeah, they are well over 100db,but these pipes pull really hard.
  24. The magazines really talked up the T-6.It's all hype.I bet your lrd's will beat it.The T-5's are better than the T-6.
