Installed Passion ported juggs, milled head, +4 timing
dajogejr replied to baddsheee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You should try and place the solder parrallel to the wrist pin, you will get the most accurate reading that way (think about how the piston rocks back and forth, but not side to side) -
what are the chances of a crank failing on
dajogejr replied to 98 shee mx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ya know...there is a couple of ways you could've put that....but just calling him stupid for buying a warranty isn't very smart. Also...any reputable builder will tell you it should be welded, they've all seen 'em break on BONE STOCK BIKES...yes, those without even pipes. Are you increasing your chances with more mods...sure... But saying it is unnessesary with only pipes is bad info as well.... I would never buy a warranty either, unless I had a 10K 4X4 utility quad or such, they're worth every penny of the warranty, but..I wouldn't call someone stupid, especially since they asked a legitimate question.... -

All of the above, and sometimes more. Bend rods, spin bearings, separate at the journals. Throw a rod, put a hole in the cases.... It's spinnin from 1000 to 10000 RPMs or higher...it can get messy!! -
Out of left field thought...but, stock coil caps are known to go bad... You can very cheaply and easily replace them...and that might help. Without getting good spark, it'll waste more fuel and make it appear rich.....just a thought.

Not sure about the Idaho...but, that LS ride sounds pretty good! That's pretty much centralized for everyone, I think.... Long time away...but, man...would that be a blast!!!
-
I'm pretty sure you need to check elsewhere...as long as you're cleaning and oiling them right. It might have an air leak, it might even be time for a top end.... Have you done a compression check on it lately? Has it been getting harder to start cold?
-
They last forever, pretty much ...IF: You keep it cleaned on a regular basis...and oiled properly, and... You don't get burn holes, holes in the net, etc. I'd say a long, long time.....why do you ask? Do you have a problem with yours?

What??? How are you going to deal with losing all that power and response that bottle provides?? LOL....J/K... Yeah, I'm bookmarking this thread for the next person "that just won't listen to reason....".... Something tells me that kid that wants 20's on his shee is smoking out of a boost bottle right now....
-
Stop shouting with capital letters and use a period or two to break up that run on sentence for starters... JB weld with a good cleaning is a quick, cheap and easy way to do it, temporarily. Complete case dissasembly, splitting cases and heliarc is the way to do it and it should be fixed properly... On my old LT250R, this hapened, a piece of copper and JB welds sealed it up for years...and I sold it. (I was 16-17 at the time, just wanted to ride...lol)... Knock on wood, I've never had a chain derail on my shee, but....will be picking up a billet case saver to be safe.

This is what you're talking about...Denny. http://www.kdcycle.com/partsdatabase.html?prod_id=200 And...no, it doesn't come with the "hot" wires...just their standard wires which are labeled "high output"... I called them on the phone and they confirmed it before I bought my Nology w/ hotwires from Jeff. Those Hotwires are the shiznit... Yeah, you can build a motor all you want, but without a real good, strong and consistent spark....you're losing out.
-
WOW...I'll say, rough day. I have a used CDI off my 96 I can ship you to try, if you don't have any laying around. It's kinda cracked...but, should test out fine. You'll have to splice wires... Or...just get a Dyna and be done with it...lol. Yeah, we got home around 3ish or 4. Hit some nasty sleet/snow round your house....slowed us down for a few miles. Other than that, smooth sailing!! Spent today just recovering....gonna start tearing it down next weekend!!!

Changes from 87' to 06' (and beyond)
dajogejr replied to Hollister_Hitman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Sure...little things like that, but I was mainly talking about is CDI connectors to the Stator.... -
Did you guys get Brent's bike to run right? Was it the Stator?? Sorry...J... I took one lap in that wind and temp, and it was a no-brainer to head on home.....
-
I agree...jet kits are a waste of money... Tony....I"m not trying to sound like a jerk, so please don't take it that way. But, it seems like you're asking us for your exact jetting specs so you can drop it in and ride. I think you've gotten enough advice to get you safely close... I'd error on the side of rich...to be safe, but....drop in the richest main you have, in this case 290....and go for a rip... I'm sure it's gonna run fine, but...from here it's time consuming and fine tuning!...and above all a valuable lesson and learning experience....

Boy....if you have an 87 and are still running stock pipes, you'd really need to get out of that bubble...ha ha ha... Gearing.... Some years have 41 tooth rear, some have 42....me thinks. As Nyuk said, electrical. 87 to 94, same, 95 to 96, Same, 97 to current....same. -
 Copied his writing style, all caps....no punctuation.... Funny stuff b-pro.... If you had enough time to come here and ask for help, complain, etc., mo....you've got enough time to type what you have done, what exactly the problem is...and we can try and help. I realize you're probably not an expert or real fast typer....there's an easy fix for that, though. The dealership....and it'll cost you. Consider your alternative!!

what are the chances of a crank failing on
dajogejr replied to 98 shee mx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
NO to mention, I'd check if it still is under warranty due to the fact you have aftermarket pipes...unless the stealership put 'em on for you. You'll be fine.... I've heard of bone stock motor's popping the crank, but those cases are very, very few and far between. Once you start playing with porting and/or compression, it's probably a real good idea! (And of course, if you're gonna take the crank out, might as well get it ported....and so the sickness begins..lol) -
I agree...David. Run that bike....you've been through enough and have been waiting long enough. If it started leaking down on that gauge like a tire going flat, I'd worry...you are just fine! I don't even wait 20 minutes.... Git R Done!!
-
Big Red 350X has a thread (it's even in his sig) about splitting the cases, step by step picture tutorial. Also...you'll replace both sets of gears, the shiftstar and the shift drum... Others may mod more too...so, ask whoever is going to do your overide tranny what parts you need to send in for core. Also, unless you're strict drag racing, I strongly recommend a dunable override vs. a traditional override...

? on Cleaning Up The Wiring Harness
dajogejr replied to White06Shee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
He's got a two into one with a twist throttle...I"m pretty sure the TORS are gone by now...lol  White06....a clymer manual will be your best friend in cleaning up your harness.... -
For the money, a Nology coil w/ hotwires is hard to beat. They're in the 140 ballpark with hotwires. If you have the extra money, I'd get that...thicker wires, better spark, etc. However, for 53 bucks plus shipping, a ricky stator coil is a good, cheap replacement part!!

Your bike had no problems taking it to poor Bob 2 outta 3 times...lol. Those guys are still up there...so, I'm hoping they get up some pics tomorrow or Monday sometime. We left the room at about 10AM, came and saw Dave and Dad, he and I went for a quick lap while Bob sat at camp, I almost ate it a few times, ...and we packed up and left. They followed us almost to Lansing on our tail...no traffic other than a little ice/snow by Brighton area....
-
Dave and Rodney, had a great time meeting and hanging out with both of you....! That little bike you got there is a runner for sure, Dave. I'm sure it'll be something simple you get figured out quick! By the way...just so you know, Bob & R&B racing's handle on this board is machwon, in case you need anything. I posted up a few pics in the media forum. I'm hoping Bob will post some up, or email them to me... I only took pics with my camera Thursday, from the parking lot. Nothing special. I hope Bob has a few mins to cut up and move some video too!! http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68671 Rod...I didn't talk to them too long. They seemed like the guys would be ok. With all that cold and wind, I packed up and got in the truck. Real nice guys, too. Couple runners, I'm sure...
-
Yeah...I didn't watch the game Thursday...fell asleep early. Rode all day yesterday, and watch the last 4 or 5 innings.... I'm not taking anything away from St. Louis, they earned it...and beat the best pitching staff in baseball! However...we are very, very young. I think you can agree the 85million errors committed may have not happened with a little more experience...but, hey...they're part of the game, it happens, and my hat's off to the Cards.... Congratulations. Again, I'm very proud of the Tigers. I'm not what you'd call a die hard, but...I enjoy a good game. When your team loses over 120 games, you can't really call that fun to watch.... However, this was a great year. I'll have to say Weaver learned all that good stuff in Detroit just a few years ago...so, you're welcome...lol... :yelrotflmao:

Great time guys...sorry we couldn't wait up for you banshdog. 40MPH winds and 40 deg. temps didn't make for much fun. Guys showed up at our hotel last night, 6 banshees in tow on a car hauler. By the time we pulled in the parking lot, I went over to talk with them and say hi...and two already went to the hospital for nosing over a dune cliff drop off. The dunes really can change overnight....hope those guys are ok!! I would've been the next one carted out...lol. Gonna post a few pics up in the images section!!
