  1. For all you know it could run just as good as a big name port job... If you're happy with it...or those you're doing it for are happy with it....that's all that matters. There's a lot more to porting than just grinding, there's pricing, customer service, turn around time...support after the sale just to name a few. Anyways...as said, no offense intended. They look badass...sleeper almost, but blinged with the PC....
  2. I don't think anyone is criticizing...if anything, more or less offering more advice for a little more oomph from your setup... No one is saying it won't run good. Just a basic port job, as you said!!!
  3. Bob of R&B is actually out of Lansing area, not quite Grand Rapids. He's a helluva nice guy... Sometimes, shops don't want to work on other's cylinders. So...if you're pretty sure R&B did the port work, I'd let them do it again for the 4 mil stroker. Before I'd tell you to ditch he 1 into 2 setup, I'd answer Kawi's quesitons of where you ride and what type? Honestly, it wouldn't be a stretch to change carbs, modify porting and get a 4 mil stroker crank and get another 10 to 20% increase out of it.   5. I agree...get a new battery for your PC. I think they're like 2 or 3 bucks. PC really rely on power to save BIOS info...after a little time. Also...disaster recover test your auto shut down for your UPS. Unplug it from the wall...see if it will shut down your PC gracefully.... Not that it should matter for the BIOS battery, but for piece of mind.
  6. Yeah, before I'd use that valve...I'd have a hand air nozzle with a quick psst....that big ol valve could be dangerous fo sho.....6 PSI is nothing...

  9. I agree...check compression first. I like to run a lot more timing, but I mostly drag race...so added heat isn't a problem.
  10. Before I answer your question, let me ask one of my own. Do you ever plan on using these 28PWKs for gas again? If the answer is yes, you should know they can NOT be converted or used for gas once setup for alky....
  11. First I've ever seen that... My only guess is it's a power jet type system....maybe it sprays fuel at WOT...are there any holes along the roof of the carb where the tube goes through from inlet to the other side... Funky.... I would think if it had anything to do with the choke circuit it would be on the intake side of the carb, not the airbox side....

  13. The PC looks Niiiccee!!! The grinding on the cylinders looks pretty good, but as I'm sure you'll agree...without numbers like duration and height....looks don't mean much on porting... Hope they run good for him!!! :thumbsup:

If you don't know what they're for, you're as smart as one...you don't need any more. Love it.
  16. Never had to. Tell you what, I have two coils sitting at my house, NEITHER of them have plug caps on the ends. I honestly don't know if either of them work. I got them in a BOX of Parts with a lot of good stuff, but a lot of junk. You send my 5.00 I'll ship them both to you... Buy new end caps, try them both....if one works, great. Send back 20 bucks and the coil you didn't use. If neither work, ship them back....call it a day. Let me know....
  17. Just replace the end caps....they are normally what goes bad 99% of the time. NGK caps are like 5 or 6 bucks each.

  19. Nope...gonna run the same combo I think. Gonna get it ported, running the slingshot lockout...that's about it. I'd like to way I'm building a drag frame, just don't know if that's gonna happen or not, though.... Good thing we bracket race...JT...we'd be getting left in the dust...LOL. I can't wait to see what Sean builds...I think it's gonna be a 3.4 to 3.6 bike....

  22. I know this is no consolation, but...going forward... I have Verizon, it's a work phone, but I have hundreds of contacts in my phone, work and personal. Verizon offers a backup service for 1.99 a month. You can back up ALL your contacts on demand or automatically on a schedule. You lose/get your phone stolen....you can get all your contacts beamed back to your phone. I know that doesn't solve the first point of some dickless ass clown stealing your phone, but....I'd be lost without all my contacts....thought I'd throw that in there.
  23. If you truly want the sleeper look, get the cylinder porting done to match the stroker crank and get the head cut so the pistons can run up into the head. In my honest opinion, I wouldn't go larger than 4 on a stock cylinder. A 7 and 10 mil crank cost the same, the cases have to be trenched either way...and you're asking a lot out of stock cylinders. A properly done 4 mil on stock cylinders will get you what you need...less cost, less hassle...to be honest. Edit... Just saw alcohol's post...I forgot TDR and a few other places make longer sleeves.... Running the piston out of the bore that much make me nervous...and the cost of resleeving, trenching, crank...etc., I just don't think it's worth the expense.....just My Opinion...
  24. Lovin your before and after, very nice. I don't know what the hell Yamaha was thinking releasing bikes with GOLD rims...sheesh. If you plan on porting it....just wait. Have whomever ports it shave the head, or if you want some extra bling, a NOSS Cool Head is a good way to lower the compression too....
