I know I sound like a smart ass when I say this...really, not trying to be. Get a dune port. Seriously... A good drag port has no bottom, little to NO mid, ALL top and a lot of it. You want average mid but still good top, pretty much a dune port! If the bike in your avitar is your duner, you'll be sorry. Those out of frame pipes are not made to take bouncing around like inframes are...keep inframes for duning, OOF for the strip.

Amen to that.... I also can assure you there are not a whole lot of cubs, cheetahs, twisters, etc., running around with trail style pipes. The VAST majority would be CPI, Shearer....drag orientated pipes with open/free flow... Throw different compression levels, timing....etc., you have a different animal....

Air leak... It's getting so hot it no longer needs the spark plugs to ignite the mixture.... When it cools down....it only has to be run to heat back up and start it all over again. Tear it apart and check it now before it breaks something....trust me on that. Look for obvious places like the intakes, boost bottle if you have one, etc...could be cracked/old rubber. Could also be a stuck throttle cable (although it'd do it more often than just once in a while and when it was warmed up most likely...), clogged passage or dirt in the carb.... Normally, if the throttle cable was sticking, killing it with the switch would shut it off. When it's detonating, it's not using the ignition spark....so the kill switch is nothing, it's not running off the plug anywho... Just my .02.

Keep in mind you'll have to run more of it than gas...just like methanol...so suddenly the savings aren't as obvious... I can buy methanol by VP for around 35 a can, but I'm probably going to get a 55 gallon drum delivered to my house this year....much easier....and WAY cheaper. Screaming Yellow...you're not far from Vitos...talk to Lane. He can find Methanol for you....

Actually....cub motors peak at or around 9K RPM, that's pretty much why I questioned the VForce thing in the first place....

It's all good... I think if there's one thing we are all learning, there is much more to learn.... It's a balance between trying something new that may or may not work better for your particular setup....or going with what everyone else has tried and true... Often the gamble doesn't pay off....but every once in a while...the house doesn't win!! Good info...fo sho!!

Add into the equation gearing, air pressure and how quick/hard your lockup actually "locks up"...and it's a helluva ride. If you're gonna run 300 foot drags, try 16/45 gearing. If you're gonna run dunes, 16/44 or 15/45...generally the races last longer... On my 10 mil I still have a little gear left with 16/44....on 300 foot, launching in 2nd. About 4PSI seems to be the magic number for our tracks. Most of us run 72 to 74 inch rollout... Hope that helps!!

This is a great thread, very informative...but it seems like any thread like this, you have to add the disclaimer, "your milage may vary...) In other words, what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander. There are a lot of Hard Core drag race guys that would tell you VFs are the best, and they are ALL over 9K motors. to be honest, there are a ton of things I'd love to take to a dyno, TDR reeds on stock cages are one of them, Nology's Silver Spark Plugs are another.... Little things like that. However, same story...works for me, might not work for you.... Good info Snop...wasn't trying to bash your thread, just pointing out what ya said in the first post. That's how I read it and understood it....

JT and I might be rivals at the track trying to one up each other, but in all reality, we're friends outside the 300' strip. This motor runs hard, has for years....and has always been right on the ass of my 10 mil, a few times even out in front. This setup will make someone a nice dune or drag bike, however you want to set it up...you won't be dissapointed. Like many of us, he's been bit by the "go bigger" bug, and has a great chance to do so (no....not my motor...lol) There should be some vids on it here, or possibly the Michigan/Silver Lake section of Planet Sand. I might even have a video or two of his bike going down the track at home...if anyone is interested... Good luck... Shayne, we still don't believe you're only gonna be 4 mil mounted this year...we'll see when the lights come down.... LOL.

Please do a search...this has been covered 1,000,000 times. All you're gonna do is start a who is MY favorite builder thread, which might not be the best choice for you. Call builders, see who answers the phone, see who calls you back, see how backed up they are, their pricing, etc. Go from there. Regardless, here's the answers you're gonna get... There is a member here that i was trying to help when shane was put in the pen. He is from Canada...and was waiting on plastics. I never got a response back from him whether the plastic was shipped to him or not. I have good reason to believe it has not been shipped. I hate to do this, but Shane has opted for a new name on PS, coronakidd...and is having a little bit of problems there as well. Would the member from Canada please post here or PM me if this issue with Strokerace has been resolved. Shane and I had a little shipping issue that after a few calls and few days we worked out. Seems like that hasn't been the case for others....and I'm hearing this from multiple sources.
