  1. Actually, everything is better. The current tower has a newer, updated MB, with a better, faster processor, and it runs faster than the Dell, with less RAM. What Dell doesn't realize is, they have to continue to make parts available for their towers, for 10 years after they quit making the towers. What it all boiled down to, was Dell wanted me to spend another $600+ on a new tower, and I wasn't about to do that. I've gotten several phone calls from them, and every time they call, I get a different excuse from them. Dell has been known to use the cheapest parts that they can get their hands on, to build their computers, and when they have a mass failing of some of the parts, they chose to do nothing to fix the problem.
  2. I got it taken care of. Dell had several MBs for my computer, but they decided that my computer was too old, and that they weren't going to refurbish a MB for me. I pretty much told them to go get bent, and had a custom tower built, with parts from my old one, for a few dollars less than the MB from Dell. Anyways, I hate Dell now, and would rather dodge bullets, than buy any more of their products.
  3. My replacement MB has 4 RAM slots, with up to 1GB per slot, and it also will support two video cards. The processor is just a Pentium 4, but to replace it with something more updated, would require buying a whole new tower. That's too much money at this time.
  4. I guess I really can't complain, because the original MB lasted almost 6 years. Shit happens, when you're born naked, or at least that's what I've always been told.
  5. Yes. I didn't have much choice. Every other place that I found one, they were used, and had no guarantee at all. I'd rather pay more, and be safe, than get it cheaper, and get something that's broke. Besides, Dell's are very MB specific, and I didn't care to also take the chance of getting the wrong one.
  6. Thanks for the help guys. I've changed out almost everything else in my tower, except the MB, and I really didn't care to ruin a $200 part.
  7. Were do I need to use it on the MB?
  8. The motherboard on my Dell Dimension 8400 recently fried 6 capacitors, and I've got a new one on the way. Does anyone with experience have any tips, or what to watch for, when changing it out? If so, let me know. Thanks.
  9. Maybe you should try the See Pee Eye pipes.
  10. That's a sad excuse, and it makes you sound very lazy. People with your kind of attitude, are the ones that most generally end up on welfare. It's your life, ruin it if you want.
  11. Some spyware, and trojans can do strange things to your computer. Do not rule out anything, until you have checked it out throughly. Are you keeping up with all of your updates? Microsoft, Sun Java, Flash Player, and so on. Run a scan with Dr. Web Cure It. Here it is. Dr Web Cure It
  12. What kind of antivirus, and antispyware programs are you running? You may have other problems.
  13. Download Ccleaner, from this link. It's a freebie history/cookie cleaner. Ccleaner download, in the upper right corner.
  14. I find that I'm adjusting my air screws a lot more, than anything else. For every 15 degrees in temp change, either up, or down, the air mixture screws on my carbs need adjusted.
  15. If you install the grease zerk, be sure to take the inside seal out of each bearing, before installing them in the carrier. I did this same mod about 10 years ago, and I'm still running the same axle bearing.
  16. It's definately time for a new clutch, because anti-freeze doesn't play well with the clutch fibers. Might as well throw a pancake bearing in while you're at it. It's good, cheap insurance, to prevent the ball from welding to the clutch rod.
  17. It's the counter shaft seal that's leaking, and it's an easy fix. If you don't fix it soon, the leaking oil will attract a bunch of dirt, and sand, and work it's way past the seal into the trans. This happened to me years ago, and caused the trans to quit shifting. I had to take the cases apart, to get all the dirt out, but luckily it didn't hurt any parts.
  18. Maybe it's too lean on the bottom end, and you need to turn the air mixture screws in a bit.
  19. Black is the worst color for showing imperfections, with red being a close second. White is the most forgiving.
  20. You may be so rich on your jetting, that neither CDI is capable of letting it rev completely out. What is your alt,, and jetting specs, and temp?
  21. Yes, it would be a lot better to wait to port it, when you tear it down for a new top end. It would be best if the person doing the porting knew what pipes you were planning on running, once it was back together. I ran FMFs for years, and never had a problem with them. A lot of people don't give the FMFs their due, because they aren't the best looking pipes, and some say they like the sound of the Toomey's better, but I out ran a bunch of bikes with Toomeys on them, so it's all a matter of personal preferance, and $$$.
  22. Are you going to port the cylinders? If you do, the FMFs will work better. The T6s are designed for stock cylinders, and don't respond as well to porting as other pipes do.
  23. That bottom end lag on your friends bike is probably a jetting issue.
  24. Yes, aluminum can be welded.
  25. The JB Weld will not stand up to the gas, and two stroke oil. It will turn the JB into a clear looking, almost silicone like junk, and it will peel right off. Have it welded up, and machined back down, or get a new case.
